How could you put the words free with Spinal taps?? Do you know how painful that is? I would rather be shot in the leg than allow more than one Spinal tap on my pet. What is wrong with you? To allow a pet to go through this when thousands of homeless dogs are put to sleep every month and you expose your pet to this, I am just sickened about it. You do not deserve another pet in your life....................
@1313ginger It's important to do medical research on animals--to help improve the lives of future animals and humans alike. Narcolepsy is dangerous for anyone to have since those with it cannot control when they suddenly fall asleep. I think it's great that this dog has been enrolled in a narcolepsy study. New knowledge about medical conditions isn't easy to get, and volunteers to participate in studies are important.
Yep, that's would happened to our min-pin/chihuahua mix. One minute she'd be up and going and the next she'd just fall to the floor. She once slid 10 feet on the kitchen floor when an episode hit as she was excitedly playing. Her little legs just folded under her like a folding chair and down she went. Snout first across the lineoleum.
Poor girl. I notice your last comments regarding her treatment were 10 months ago. What is the latest news on Cocoa please? I am also a daxi owner of two boys who are loved so much.
uncontrollably laughing!....there is this man that sits at a gas station in my town who suffers from this. He has often said that if we see the top of his head while he is driving down the road to pull over cuz he fell asleep...true story. We watch him fall asleep in his chicken all the time. He will be talking and then, he is snoring. It's funny to see a dog do it too. :).......and yes.......they still let him drive, don't know how, but he does.
awww thats so sad but sweet all at the same time :( hope it doesnt choke on the food! love these dogs have 2 :) glad her medicine works for her and that she is well loved and cared for :) ty for posting vid and update
Thank you for you comment. No new updates other than the fact that Cocoa is a very happy dog. She no longer has her narcoleptic episodes when she is on her medication. (:
Yes, she has recently been accepted as a study dog at the University of Georgia. They are 100% sure it is narcolepsy. Since she is a study dog, she is given free spinal taps, and free medication (Imipramine HCL 10mg) to help the hyper-ness, causing the narcolepsy.
@jordanleighhughesx3 i am really glad to see that you try to help your little buddy!!! many owners give their dogs away when they're sick and this makes me so sad :( i have to tell people like you that you are heroes! you stand by cocoa's side no matter what happens, i'm sure you have a very big heart!
i hope he has a long and joyful life with his family :)
poor little baby :( my dachshund is 4 and she has seizures. are you sure though about the narcolepdy? cause my baby's mouth does the exact same thing during a seizure..
