I saw Viedo games live, and the orchestra did scars of time. The flute was much louder and it didn't cover the guitar. Unfortunately, there was no solo violin :(. I guess finding balance is hard for this song

I don't like to criticize, but this wasn't a good interpretation of the theme, the flautist plays like a beginer, at 0:49 he plays a dirty note, guitar is too loud and the violinist makes a mistake at 1:36. The flautist has time mistakes too, he didn't entered at time, so...

like as in a thing to make it sound louder....no i don't think so. I mean you could stick a microphone in front of it, and do that but there is nothing that actually "plugs" into a flute, it's esentially a piece of metal with holes in it and a mouthpiece. You could make one though....don't know how that would work though

Oh I work in theatre and stage work, I know how to amplify wind instruments, however, the sarcastic reply to the person who said you could barely hear the flute over the guitar, was obviously lost, Thanks for taking time to reply to this, though.

I think the real problem with this song is that the flute doesn't have a mic. Also, the mics are probably going straight into the recording, so this likely sounded better live. Also, compare to other performances on youtube, like the MGS one.

The guitar was way too loud, and the flute... It was difficult to hear. Then i think the lead violin speeded up a bit in some parts but it was good.

Still i liked it, but nothing can beat the original.

awesome performance.cant really hear the flute that well or the bass, which is an essential part of this piece. the guitar was also too loud. all in all, performers + conductor get an A. sound people get a C(i've heard much worse sound)

Unh. There's been a whole bunch of comments about certain instruments being too loud. Did you considder that the guitar and viloin were miked, and the recording of the song was taken close to a speaker? Evidence: Have you ever heard an audience clap so quietly?

It's not about importance, flute doesn't need a mike, it can be heard over the instrumanets in an orchestra. The fact that it shows up AT ALL proves this, a lot of other instruments can't be heard (back-up violins...)

Guitar on the other hand, is rarely IN an orchestra at all because it's so difficult to hear.

As for the violin, generally it can be heard, but there were other violins, so it would get lost.

I know that. The composer is Mitsuda, he does some game sondtrack, like a Film Music. But the style is near classical (correct term: "neo-classical" since it's not 1750-1800 but 1990-2???)

He have some element of chamber Music, musical theater and even symphony with are sub-categories of classic music.

But, when you have a notation sheet, you do also some "improvisation" and some modification: That an arrangement.

In this one, the guitar is in a rock manner,like Satriani playing Vivaldi ;)

True, you could hardly hear the flute, at least not in this recording. Like I've been saying about a lot of these clips, this orchestra doesn't do justice to a lot of my favorite pieces. The musicians don't suck individually, but compared to the original pieces - which already sound perfect - this production is flat out sloppy and half-hearted.

Meh...I dont like this version. The song itself is absolutely beautiful, but...there's too much going on. too many musicians. the orig song called for one violin, one guitar, one flute and one percussionist. not entire sections. lead violinist was also a little shy i felt. theres another version that eminence does that's GORGEOUS THOUGH.
