I went to school at the University in the early '80s for Coach Bryant's last few years. Yes we did that cheer except we would do it during the game and yell "we're gonna beat the hell out of you". Then when Coach Bryant passed, Perkins came and he is the one who stopped the cheer.  Then after he left and Curry came, the cheer came back.

It's an old tradition that started god knows when. It's sung almost after every game Alabama wins...even if it's close because in context as an fan or Bama player it's a team no one thought you'd beat ala GA or Clemson or one you struggled or played half @ssed againsted and still one, like Kentucky...though I wouldn't have played it after that one. Rammer Jammer was the schools old newspaper...I don't know if it's still there today, and Yellow Hammer is the state bird.

You should watch Alabama on saturday's because you are going to be hearing alot more from now on. Before you make stupid comments check your history. First off I dont need to answer or prove anything. The Yea Alabama comment was a typo I meant Rammer Jammer. But if you need to know I will tell you. Ethelred Epp Lundy Sykes which was a student in 1925 who won a contest wrote Yea Alabama. And the meaning was from the Rose Bowl win and was the start for other southern teams to be competitive with the other teams in the country. Now stick that one in your pipe and smoke it.
