  • "Never ever give up!" The wisdom of Sir Winston Churchill and the resillance of the Royal Navy:) I believe the Royal Navy is invincible, you are forever invincible, Brittania rules the waves:)

  • hmm sry to complain just like to voice my opinion:Dwas churchill a hero? "we will fight them on the beaches"-would he have or would the people?funny how he had a plane ready to fly to america isnt it?and also gallipolix2 in both wars he decided to attac gallipoli at a high cost u thought hed of learnt ya know?finally the people were rationed and he sure didnt look at all hungry:P like i said its just my opinion feel free to comment but try not to be nasty:D

  • It's not the place of leaders to fight on the battlefield unless you're some backwards tribal nation waving spears. That and he was about 60 or something at the time.

He was most certainly a hero. :P

  • Very well played and sung mate. Sends shivers down my spine whenever this is played.

    Thank you,

    Strout

(A very patriotic 20 year old)

  • Awsome! I commented on this, but I have to again, cause you did a great job. A compliment from a yank:D

  • Schönes Lied!

  • Great stuff David - this tune has great meaning for me, as it was played at my father's funeral as his coffin was carried out of the church. He was a Navy man and would have marched to this tune many, many times. I've never heard the words before - thanks for posting this.

    Cheers, Graeme

  • Well done. Blackbeard does a great version as well.

  • Its also the canadian navy anthem

  • Thanks for this information

  • The song dates from 1759 rather than the reign of Elizabeth I. The lyrics were by David Garrick and the tune by William Boyce.

  • omgosh

  • Well done, carried this one with decorum

    Kay

  • Thanks Kay and pleased you enjoyed it.

    David

  • nice :-)

  • Long live the Royal Navy!

  • thank you for keeping history alive!

  • You wouldn't be out of place in a Welsh Choir David. This was really beautifully done. You'd be more than welcome in any Church singing like that. I will be adding that one as a favourite right away.

How about doing some Zulu for us like...Men of Harlech for us or God Bless the Prince of Wales two of my favourite tunes of all time. I'd also like to hear you do Loch Lomond bonney lad. There's one thing for certain you're getting better and better.

  • Say

    David...

I know this classic sea shanty well. Point of fact, it is among my favorites (favourites). Nothing beats a story song...and sea shanties are indeed the master format for such tales set to music.

I am delighted that you have chosen to perform this ditty with the utmost respect and integety of the original.

I thank you for renewing my faith that folks such as yourself are doing their part in perpetuating these sea shanites for the next generation.

    Peace,

    Stewball

  • Have no fear, Heart of Oak is the official march of the Royal Navy, and of the Royal Canadian Navy.
