  • ow. Thats too long ago

  • what happened to Limahl in this video( lead vocalist in the track" too shy") ? did he leave the band when they went to america ? weird name kajagoogoo sounds a bit chinese .....

  • @rokderboat

Limahl had been sacked by the band well before this. They continued in various forms until reforming and playing live last year with the original line up.

  • Hillarious, not one bit of irony, lyricaly or visually. Don't you drag your heels.

  • hearing this song makes me so happy......stil playing it almost every day!!!!

And have to sing with it also (sorry everbody at work...lol)

  • A great song from the 80s..Quite like Kajagoogoo but I think this is the best song they did-and Limarl didnt lead sing in it. Just as good, if not better, without him-but thats just my opinion

  • Nick is da mann!

  • His name is Nick (I so fancied him when I was a kid( he writes songs for others now...bloody excellent...he was the brains behing the band as well as x

  • music now is shit !! this is classic!!!

  • @mcbethme To answer your question

  • I had the album 'Islands' on vinyl years ago, and I used to love the instrumental 'The Loop', haven't heard it since the late 80's. If anyone reads this, please put it up!!! Thank you!

  • thank god we have hair products that can fix that these days

  • Hm, shut the fuck up

  • back to 80

  • This was a classic tune!!! Too bad Limahl wasn't in the group at this time because they were just hitting their stride when he was let go.

  • one the greatest songs of all time

  • great song of a funny aera.

thx for this song to the

    uploader and kajagoogoo!

  • I have the original vinyl single of this song ha!!

  • Thanx from Hungary

  • Thanks from Poland! :)

  • loving that bass guitar...damn...Limahl who?? lol

  • Comment removed

  • I had a very similar haircut in the 80s... without the beads though. did it myself and got a friend or my Mum to help me do the bleaching.... :D

  • this vid reminds me of the movie the warriors

  • I prefered Islands to White Feathers.

  • At a guess i'd say this was 1983??? I can barely remember my sisters listening to this..................whatever happened to Kajagoogoo??

  • this is just after they kicked limahl out....but where have you been? there back together..all five originals

  • they fired Limahl, lost popularity and stopped puttin music out

  • Kajagoogoo have reformed n are touring UK during Sept n Oct.........dnt no if thy r doing ne European dates go to their web site ....go to Google n type in Kajagoogoo n it will tell u where n wn thy r touring....thy r all a friendly bunch on the website....honestly like one big happy family

  • Haha hes basejumping! :P

  • wow what a song i love it,,

  • Funny (peculiar) now that Manhattan is so discredited these days

  • Ja pierdzielę... Jest ktoś z polski , kto yo jescze pamięta ??

  • great song

  • This the first time i've heard this ever since it come out in the 80's.Its weird seeing it again,i remember liking it but thought it strange the guitarist singing it.Anyway...

  • This came out after Limahl has left the group.

Thehy should have stayed together as I don't think either of them lasted all that long seperately.

  • True. Shame, really.

  • this is great. what has happened to music?!

  • @matthewcole13 Music has become so utterly commercial that everything has to be 'pap' aimed at the lowest possible common denominator. Therefore anything slightly 'creative' is far too big a risk to spend £££s on the adverts..

  • Men were so beautiful in those days ;-) great song.

  • Where's the Monochromatic video. That would just blow my socks off!

  • That is some hella cool drums, Jez was very underrated in this group. This song kinda reminds me of something Duran Duran would have wrote.

  • Without Limahl who sounded better. But a good song in any case.

  • damn the bass player knows his stuff

  • yes, he is Nick Beggs, the singer too.

  • well done , chris put wigan on the map !!!!

  • Remember the 12"? Great drumwork in the start!

  • test

  • Great toon ! Brings back many happy memories of being a teenager in the early 80's. Far better track than "Too Shy". Thanks for posting.

  • wow!

    kaja,Big Apple

    in,japan

  • wow!

  • better song than too shy

  • iam gussing the guitarist took over vocals from lahmal eh good song

  • nick beggs is incredible, not to say that the rest of the band isnt great, but nick's bass/chapman stick playing has really stood out for me

  • just seen them perform in Denmark june 14 with the original set incl Limahl. Very good

  • their best song

  • top tune, bring back the 80's!!!!

  • No stupid, "Too Shy" is :)

  • chintesenta anilor '80

  • Good song!

  • this was my first album, i was about 10 y. old, and still loving it, i was so deaply in love whit that nick guy... mmmm it's great to see this...

  • The village proves to be a major force in our culture, especially in the music scene. The graff on the trains sure takes me back...

  • i like "to shy" more, but this is still good

  • The single has an extra part during the first verse. Something about targeting his rival, and crossin' the street is a dangerous game, the stakes were survivor, or something like that. o_0

  • The entire original lineup, including lead singer Limahl, has reunited. They'll be touring as well as working on new material.

  • one of the best 80ies bands

got it all know it all

  • (\__/)

    (='.'=)

    (")_(")

  • This new singer is better than Lhimal but he aint no looker is he LOL

  • This Singer is Nick Beck! Greetings from Switzerland

  • Nick Beggs

  • Bloody hell i havent heard this for about 20 years!

  • was very once, but very much super was!!!

  • Was ist aus Kajagoogoo geworden?

    What makes Kajagoogoo today?

  • loving the 80's

  • great stuff i know. start chatting limahl and beggs..get it back now..

  • OMG is that an AMC? LOL

  • love this track. awesome 80's

  • same here. I haven't heard this song in ages. thanks for posting. we should probably start an 80s collection. can someone suggest a youtube link. lazy to search :)

  • I love the 80's.

  • I haven,t heard this in 20 years.

  • Half man, half pampas grass

  • I see why this band fizzled out after Limahl was voted out of the band!! This guy isn't any good as a singer...

  • Limahl should have stayed..

Limahl would have sang his songs and Beggs his ;)

whould have been a great team..

for example.. the band Queen.. some songs were sung by the drummer (Roger Taylor) and some by the guitar player (Brian May) but the lead singer was still Freddie Mercury ;)

KajaGooGoo lost alot of fans with Limahl :(

also i think Beggs can sing well ;P

  • agreed.

both Beggs and Limahl are great, should have co-operated ;)

  • Yes,the band could create a solid foundation with songwriting and instrumental abilities. Add a frontman and the jigsaw was complete.

  • God I hated that guy. Preferred Limahl LOADS better.

  • Nice hair!

  • I saw an interview once where he suggested he always washed it in Lenor fabric softner. I think he lied !

  • They really don't need Limahl, they are great without him.)Limahl was just a big mistake. He have good style singing but that style have nothing to do with the Kajagoogoo sound.Limahl made a record singing their masterpieces like "turnYourBackOnMe etc" The result? Embarrassing. If since the beginning too shy had been sung from Nick Beggs, all would have loved it in the same way...This is just my personal opinion.

  • why do you write it by all the limahl songs here on Youtube? Personal conflict with Limahl? Stop swearing. like in theatre, u know. like it? clap? don't like it? STFU!

  • I know him personally and i've meet him two times... I like him as a solo writer but i don't like him in Kajagoogoo. That's it.

  • Thanks, takes me back to the autumn of 83 when I'd just got back from NYC and was missing it a lot.

Quite a melancholy song really. Whatever happened to this band? They just vanished off the face of the earth!

  • no way... wait some days and i'll show you how great they are now... eh eh...

    give me some days...

  • What happened was that Nick Beggs lit a cigarette & with all that hairspray on the bands heads they all simply combusted never to be seen again!!!

  • god bless that eighties optimism ive never known a time when the skys seemed to high

  • god bless that eighties optimism ive never known a time when the skys seemed so high

  • Nick Beggs looks like Brigitte Nielsen, but it was a good music and good old times

  • Everyone got so caught up in slagging this Band back in the 80's that we all failed to notice that they were creating great Music.Check out the album 'Islands'

  • Since I FIRST saw them, I fell in love with them. To this day I still bring out my vinyls with their songs, and Oh Yes..I STILL want to bang the sh*it out of their drummer Jez Strode. He's delicious!!!

  • This takes me back, I love it

  • Awesome music! A far cry better than this so called rap crap of today.

  • You people have NO idea what you are talking about!! You had to just BE THERE when the 80's shifted from Punk to 'New Age'!... i.e. Duran Duran, Simple Minds Etc.Etc.!

  • I really wish I was I mean the music nowadays isnt anything compared to this seriously..I mean everybody has the same sound imo nowadays and its just ugh!! from hip hop to rock etc..

  • dont make them like that anymore (shame)

  • nick beggs knows to play his bass guitar

  • Dear god, seeing this video makes me miss New York, even though it's circa 1982, not 2006.

The very 1st 'Now That's What I Call Music' album had this song, and that's where I first heard it.

  • They all have weird faces and facial expressions...i guess that whats makes it memorable.

  • Nick has the weirdest facial expressions I swear lol

  • Facial expressions borrowed from Cat Deeley no less...

  • That DID look like Anthony Michael Hall!! Great song - haven't heard this one for years!

  • ifjú korom egyik legjobb zenéje és +határozó zenéje!

    Viva Kajagoogoo!

  • Nick was a different singer than Limahl. Apples

and oranges. It's not a contest, just different.

One can argue all day why Jeff Beck was better

or worse than Van Halen. For what. Respect the

difference. The song is amazing. Few put jazz/

funk elements together in new wave so well. I

can only think of Level 42 doing it that well.

  • Limahl is a better vocalist than Nick without discussion! The band hired him, then fired him, and so their success, likewise, came and went. That's karma for you. Super egos were the cause of it, I'm sure, by all parties involved.

  • don't believe the truth...

  • I actually owned the Kaja album Extra Play on vinyl in 1984. Unbeknownst to me, it was also released as Islands in other parts of the world. I bought my copy in the Philippines. It is long since lost but I still have a cassette recording of it. I thought this was a great song and it still holds up today. I had never seen the video before so thanks for uploading it.

  • Why does everybody slag Limahl off? He was sooo tiny and cute... After he had gone solo, he came to Madrid to do this TV show... Back from the airport, he got his clothes stolen from the car, right in front of the record company... He had to rush to El Corte Ingles to get himself some new "outfit"... Which made him look like some funny hobbit... I was part of the show audience that day, and was asked to move from behind Limahl (we were dancing around him on stage) as I covered him up!

  • Thats fine when you've met him for like - an hour or so! Any longer and.....

  • Some funny little hobbit..thats freaking hilarious!

  • Kajagoogoo was much better than what they got creadit for. Nick is a great bassist, jez was an amazing drummer, Steve was a great guirarist and stuart was nice harmony. Limahl is ok on his own, but this is so awesome.

  • What a great song! I never got to see this video though. Yea Limahl was lame, too much of an ego to associate himself any further.. regardless, it's all priceless. Kajagoogoo is one favorites for its era!

  • thank god limalh left kajagoogo, he was out of context

  • So much better...without Limahl. Too bad that too shy was their only big hit over here. This is one of my favorite songs from the '80's.

  • 1 answer: Your a dick and Kaja pwnz!

  • Come on. I actually enjoy Kajagoogoo. I like stuff like Ooh To Be Ah, Frayo, Magician Man, and Lion's Mouth. But you have to admit I'm not out of line asking those questions!

  • Questions:

    1) Is that Anthony Michael Hall getting into an argument with a girl in the train station?

    2) How many beers did it take to get these guys to do this?

  • Nick has a bit of a Martin Gore look going there. Of course, Martin didn't wear the beads and wrote good songs.

  • I'm really digging those beads/mullet combo. I wonder why it went out of style. That was pretty damn cool :)

  • Ditto...bigtime! Kind of strange seeing the video after hearing the song all these years.

  • Was a fan of this album back in the 80's, always wanted to see this. Thank you.
