what happened to Limahl in this video( lead vocalist in the track" too shy") ? did he leave the band when they went to america ? weird name kajagoogoo sounds a bit chinese .....
Limahl had been sacked by the band well before this. They continued in various forms until reforming and playing live last year with the original line up.
A great song from the 80s..Quite like Kajagoogoo but I think this is the best song they did-and Limarl didnt lead sing in it. Just as good, if not better, without him-but thats just my opinion
His name is Nick (I so fancied him when I was a kid( he writes songs for others now...bloody excellent...he was the brains behing the band as well as x
I had the album 'Islands' on vinyl years ago, and I used to love the instrumental 'The Loop', haven't heard it since the late 80's. If anyone reads this, please put it up!!! Thank you!
Kajagoogoo have reformed n are touring UK during Sept n Oct.........dnt no if thy r doing ne European dates go to their web site ....go to Google n type in Kajagoogoo n it will tell u where n wn thy r touring....thy r all a friendly bunch on the website....honestly like one big happy family
This the first time i've heard this ever since it come out in the 80's.Its weird seeing it again,i remember liking it but thought it strange the guitarist singing it.Anyway...
@matthewcole13 Music has become so utterly commercial that everything has to be 'pap' aimed at the lowest possible common denominator. Therefore anything slightly 'creative' is far too big a risk to spend £££s on the adverts..
The single has an extra part during the first verse. Something about targeting his rival, and crossin' the street is a dangerous game, the stakes were survivor, or something like that. o_0
same here. I haven't heard this song in ages. thanks for posting. we should probably start an 80s collection. can someone suggest a youtube link. lazy to search :)
for example.. the band Queen.. some songs were sung by the drummer (Roger Taylor) and some by the guitar player (Brian May) but the lead singer was still Freddie Mercury ;)
They really don't need Limahl, they are great without him.)Limahl was just a big mistake. He have good style singing but that style have nothing to do with the Kajagoogoo sound.Limahl made a record singing their masterpieces like "turnYourBackOnMe etc" The result? Embarrassing. If since the beginning too shy had been sung from Nick Beggs, all would have loved it in the same way...This is just my personal opinion.
why do you write it by all the limahl songs here on Youtube? Personal conflict with Limahl? Stop swearing. like in theatre, u know. like it? clap? don't like it? STFU!
Everyone got so caught up in slagging this Band back in the 80's that we all failed to notice that they were creating great Music.Check out the album 'Islands'
Since I FIRST saw them, I fell in love with them. To this day I still bring out my vinyls with their songs, and Oh Yes..I STILL want to bang the sh*it out of their drummer Jez Strode. He's delicious!!!
You people have NO idea what you are talking about!! You had to just BE THERE when the 80's shifted from Punk to 'New Age'!... i.e. Duran Duran, Simple Minds Etc.Etc.!
I really wish I was I mean the music nowadays isnt anything compared to this seriously..I mean everybody has the same sound imo nowadays and its just ugh!! from hip hop to rock etc..
Limahl is a better vocalist than Nick without discussion! The band hired him, then fired him, and so their success, likewise, came and went. That's karma for you. Super egos were the cause of it, I'm sure, by all parties involved.
I actually owned the Kaja album Extra Play on vinyl in 1984. Unbeknownst to me, it was also released as Islands in other parts of the world. I bought my copy in the Philippines. It is long since lost but I still have a cassette recording of it. I thought this was a great song and it still holds up today. I had never seen the video before so thanks for uploading it.
Why does everybody slag Limahl off? He was sooo tiny and cute... After he had gone solo, he came to Madrid to do this TV show... Back from the airport, he got his clothes stolen from the car, right in front of the record company... He had to rush to El Corte Ingles to get himself some new "outfit"... Which made him look like some funny hobbit... I was part of the show audience that day, and was asked to move from behind Limahl (we were dancing around him on stage) as I covered him up!
Kajagoogoo was much better than what they got creadit for. Nick is a great bassist, jez was an amazing drummer, Steve was a great guirarist and stuart was nice harmony. Limahl is ok on his own, but this is so awesome.
What a great song! I never got to see this video though. Yea Limahl was lame, too much of an ego to associate himself any further.. regardless, it's all priceless. Kajagoogoo is one favorites for its era!
Come on. I actually enjoy Kajagoogoo. I like stuff like Ooh To Be Ah, Frayo, Magician Man, and Lion's Mouth. But you have to admit I'm not out of line asking those questions!

Nick was a different singer than Limahl. Apples
and oranges. It's not a contest, just different.
One can argue all day why Jeff Beck was better
or worse than Van Halen. For what. Respect the
difference. The song is amazing. Few put jazz/
funk elements together in new wave so well. I
can only think of Level 42 doing it that well.

Limahl is a better vocalist than Nick without discussion! The band hired him, then fired him, and so their success, likewise, came and went. That's karma for you. Super egos were the cause of it, I'm sure, by all parties involved.
