nope the 06-08 are all rev-up. however, the 07-08 uses the HR engine and the 06 uses the DE engine...the 06 is indeed a rev up

@UncleCbo I also have a 2009 350z stock manual and the best 0-60 I have achieved is 5.3 which means I should be looking at the Dodge Vipers tail pipes from start to finish. Plus the stock 350 is limited to 155 were the dodge will top 190mph. However if the Nissan has a Stillen Turbo unit on it pushing 600bph you would be looking at 3.8 approx 0-60 so a 3 sec Nissan must be a nitros drag racer !!

Most 06 models are RevUp models. For all models prior 06 arent RevUp, this allows the car to ref after 6600 (stock prior 06), limits round 7200 and below 7600RPM.

stop the insult man... i was just wondering what's on his slip if he's been to the track. I ran a 13.9 (I usually run right above 14 seconds) but his 03 Z managed to pull steady 13.7 and when I drive the 03 Z it felt a tiny faster from 0-40mph.

It will probably help a lot. 3rd gear should be good for about 100 even, and you might cross the line at redline, instead of having to shift to fourth, unless you are trapping a lot more.

Btw, the reason why your friend's 03 might feel quicker to 40 is because they have more torque and at lower rpm than the rev-up. Top-end, you should get him.

ambientflier, you are absolutely correct. i stay on 3rd gear at the track and this definitely helps. i trap around 102mph.

@BlueZ33 I have a 2003 and I usually trap 99 in 4th, so you definitely pull on the older engine in the top end.
