I don't know... I think that killing a goose while there are others around would be harder than you think. Maybe a lone goose, but not one with its pals.
I believe this is completely real. We had a very large fox come and try to kill some of our ducks, but our geese were around to scare the crap out of it. If it happens again I'm getting a video. The fox was so obstinate too, I went out to chase it away and it just sat there, I had to run up to it.
the fox said "geesh these are the biggest ducks i ever seen"lol.good video.notice how the geese showed themselves bigger to protect the younger ones or the ganders.that neck posturing is done to intimidate the fox.this is real footage, that's real behavior.
Interesting to see how the geese spread their wings to intimidate the fox. I bet if he went for it he could kill a goose easily but it just wasn't confident/hungry enough to do it. tfs
Sure, but I still think it would be fully capable of killing a goose. Stoats kill rabbits which are far larger than themselves. If the fox got a goose by the throat i'm pretty sure it could kill it.
@cabelas1987, in some circumstance a fox might be able to kill a goose but it isn't easy. There appear to be a mated couple here continually facing him so if he went for one both would be after him. They can also move their necks very fast like a snake and their wings are capable of breaking bones. If they got him by the neck and began beating him with their wings he'd be one sorry bruised fox.
@cabelas1987 , actually a fox can't kill a goose 'easily'; you notice the adults keep facing him so he can't get behind them and if he came ahead to get one adult both the gander and goose would be on him. They are very brave birds; not a lot to fight with but they use what they have. Their very strong wings are also capable of breaking a bone. They also move their necks fast like a snake so it's not easy to get them that way either,
geese are too big for a fox...

Fox is as tame as the geese. Looked right at the guy with camera 20 feet away and smiled.
