I though that Johnny Depp was the perfect actor for working with Tim Burton, but when I saw this movie... ufff Ewan is SOOO GREAT!

@piemakesmelol > yeah I agree, Ewan represents a serious straight simple merry hero here - Johnny could not do it this way, cause he is playing somehow more in a mad, tragical or ironic way (although HE is also amazing in it). but johnny would make a complete different movie out of it. by the way I liked to see the orchester play in that scenes : )

No, it would not. Ewan made this film different and fresh!, he did a terrific job. Johnny would have made it "another Tim Burton film", Burton should try using other actors like he did here.
