Lol. I shot a Glock subcompact in .40, and the XD40 subcompact...I could tell very, very little difference between the two. I ended up buying the XD40, because the gun shop was having a "$100 off XD40" day, so I went with it. 1500 rounds later, I have zero regrets.
@saigawhite308 Funny, lots of other old designs never get complained about... Mausers, AKs, ARs. The 1911 is the best combat pistol there is... period. Capacity doesn't matter; 8+1 is plenty, especially when the magazines are so thin (which makes them easier to carry and manipulate in the first place). Beyond that, you're shooting those rounds with superior accuracy and recoil mitigation, from a 1911 versus other pistols.

My CCW is a Glock 19 which I carry all the time. The Glock is lighter weight, holds more bullets for it's size, plus has a low bore axis. The XD has the nicer trigger pull, and it's fun to shoot, but I'm way faster and more accurate with a Glock. End of story.
@brassman31 Got both Glock and XD, recently purchased the XD. Love them both. I've been carrying Glock 30sf and 19 for conceal carry. But really warming up to the XD because it shoots so smooth. In fact its the smoothes shooting gun i've ever shot. Now i'm also carrying XD for conceal and its my bedside gun as well. I think Springfield took the Glock blueprint and made it alittle better imo. And this is comming from a Glock guy. :)
No to act like a fanboy, but XDs break, they rust, and the bore axis is too high above the grip to allow for a good, high tang grip. There's a pin in the slide that breaks after you put a couple thousand rounds through one, which requires a trip back to Springfield to fix. I know - I regularly send them back. If you came here looking for an opinion: buy a Glock. I came here looking for a laugh, not to flame, so please take what I said as an honest opinion and nothing more.

I recommended the XD to my dad for a few reasons but the main was the 45 style back side grip safty. Why? Well if you slack hand any auto pistol it will most of the time double feed, jam or not cycle all the way and the case will get stuck half way out the ejector. If you don't hold the XD grip safty right in it will not fire. This in return mean he has to grip it right to fire and then in return it will not jam.
Please note that when washing the Glock in the dish washer don't use soap. After the dishwasher stops take Glock out and run another full cycle with soap to clean out any lead. The Glock will not rust....Do not wash the Glock with dishes.
As far as XD goes I shoot just as well with it and love them both but just seem to go with what know.
My dad asked me what to buy for him and I did recommend the XD.
I live by Glock. I shoot combat competiton and I only use Glock. I just got the new Glock 22 and the new grip is very nice. I replace the trigger, spring, mag release, and slide release. I add a buffer and have it buffed to shoot smoother.Then I black out the rear sights. Brake it down throw in diswasher alone. Take it out wipe down and very little lube, clean inside barrle and ready to go again.
It's the same old story, BLAME THE EUIPMENT! If you're shitting your pants, it's the pants, if you can't drive straight and crash, it's the car, and if you put your finger on the trigger, pull it and it goes boom, it's the gun.

@DaedalEVE First let me say that I shoot a modified weaver stance. That being said iso does offer a couple tactical advantages. The first being that if you are wearing body armor you are presenting it to the threat, where if you shoot weaver your showing the threat the weakest part of your armor. Second it generally causes the gun to recoil straight up which leads to faster follow up shots. The weaver by its very nature will cause the gun to go up and to your weak side. Just FYI

Great video! I prefer Glocks for CCW but I may in the future get a nice XD, problem is my shopping list is getting large and my wallet is still anorexic. Unfortunately a mutually exclusive experience. I purchased the Glock 26 because if I pull the trigger it goes boom, the .380 my dad gave me has an external safety and I always manage to forget the thing so I tend not to use it, nor carry it. I was in my boot at a range for almost 5 seconds before I realized it wasn't broken, the safety was on!

Glocks are inherently ambi because they lack the thumb safety. Personally, I've always pressed the mag release with my index finger, so I don't need an ambi mag release, either.

Great video. My only beef with the XD's is that are not asthetically pleasing to me. They are bulky and too complicated in style and just don't flow. I look at glocks and they are just plain sexy, sleak, and stealthy. Before you shun me, looks go a long way. Just look at the X-32 and X-35(aircraft). The X-32 out peformed the X-35 but the deciding factor game from the pilots, citing the X-32 was ugly. Behold the F-35, the DoD's new financial black hole!

Shot both own 2 Glocks, It is just a preference... And you dont need extra safeties unless your an idiot. Dont get me wrong XD's are nice but the Glock is a classic in my opinion...
PS.....DO NOT BUY THE 357 unless its for big nuts display, the ammo is SOOO gd expensive, payn 22 dollars a box for ball ammo...=( gonna grab the 9 mill one next payday, also the 357 has too much power, so unless you plan to use frangable in home defense expect every round to pass through your target and shoot a neighbor....midas well be using a Barrett for home defense lol
great video. both are great guns. the glock grip angle isn't the worst part of the grip, its the straight "wooden block" feeling. nothing like a human hand. the safety is fine on the glock, as long as you can keep it away from kids. (if not, its a disaster)

Great video. My only beef with the XD's is that are not asthetically pleasing to me. They are bulky and too complicated in style and just don't flow. I look at glocks and they are just plain sexy, sleak, and stealthy. Before you shun me, looks go a long way. Just look at the X-32 and X-35(aircraft). The X-32 out peformed the X-35 but the deciding factor game from the pilots, citing the X-32 was ugly. Behold the F-35, the DoD's new financial black hole!

I love Glock an have three 17,19,21 an that's all I've ever shot. But fair is fair the XD is a better Gun plain an simple. They took what Glock has done with there Guns an used the Glock platform an made it better. Sorry Glock!!!! But you can't stay the King forever. I'll be buying one soon.

Shot both own 2 Glocks, It is just a preference... And you dont need extra safeties unless your an idiot. Dont get me wrong XD's are nice but the Glock is a classic in my opinion...

PS.....DO NOT BUY THE 357 unless its for big nuts display, the ammo is SOOO gd expensive, payn 22 dollars a box for ball ammo...=( gonna grab the 9 mill one next payday, also the 357 has too much power, so unless you plan to use frangable in home defense expect every round to pass through your target and shoot a neighbor....midas well be using a Barrett for home defense lol

great video. both are great guns. the glock grip angle isn't the worst part of the grip, its the straight "wooden block" feeling. nothing like a human hand. the safety is fine on the glock, as long as you can keep it away from kids. (if not, its a disaster)

i agree, my father is an Awfusser of the lawl...his service pistol is a glock, 40.cal. i can shoot both my XD357 and his glock one after the other, both hit the target, seems the xd is more comfortable for lont term shooting, but then again, who long term shoots with a pistol, thats what the M4 is for ;p......both weapons are great imo ;p

The grip angle and the loaded chamber indicator sold me on the XD but otherwise I cant find many thing wrong with a glock

it is the extractor, but on the newer glocks it sticks out a little bit and functions as a loaded chamber indicator (it was a conscious design by glock). on the older glocks there was no loaded chamber indicator... i will try to find some pics or something.

outstanding. if you buy a glock or a springfield xd, you've made a good choice. There are a million worse guns for less or even more money that you could have chosen. Both will do a nice job for you.

The HK P7 does not have an aggressive grip angle at all. Its grip angle is similar to a 1911.
