  • Is it just me or does this demo sound alot like something that Nobuo Uematsu would compose?

  • is a huge fan of vienna most my stuff use it

  • did you have this programm only for 90 hours ?

  • I think I'll be able to afford this along with all of the other Vienna libraries I wish to have in about 10 years...

  • This and many other libraries won't stand a chance against IOSL's Leviathan:

    iosl.webs.com/apps/webstore/products/show/2662600

the future seems to get better!

  • For a crash course in film scoring that doesn't require you to back to college and spend 4 years there, or spend a lot of money visit filmmusicjobguidebook. com/webinar.

  • thats the realest strings

  • hate his accent

  • I just bought the special edition, can't wait for it to arrive.

  • @OktoberStorm How are you finding it? Are you using Vienna Instruments Pro?

  • @orchestranova1 I've been thinking of getting it, but so far I'm very happy with Vienna Ensemble. I'm not a very good composer (really a classical guitarist trying out composing), but you can hear VSL at my soundcloud page: oktoberstorm

  • What player does this work best with? Gigastudio or Kontakt?

  • @DanielMcDrtcomposer You don't need a 3rd party player - the samples run from VSL's own Vienna Instruments Player or the more recent, incredibly versatile Vienna Instruments Pro player..

  • Wow... Arnold's intellectual cousin is promoting Vienna. Who would've known!

  • But if you suck at music nothing you buy will make you a better musician .that being said you might make money anyway fooling dim wits …HAVE FUN SUCKAS

  • If you really want to "command control" over these libraries your best bet would be to buy a 12 core Mac Pro w/ thunderbolt port… just sayin…

  • Sounds very good, but for the $, I have to go with LASS and Symphobia 1 & 2.

As with all of the very good virtual string options available,(HS, CineOrch,VSL,etc) we all have our favorites and I feel in the final analysis, it is preference and application that decides what is right for us all. The debates and arguments seem so unessesary, we should simply be thankful there are so many quality libraries to choose from.

  • can somebody tell me if my Mac 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo/Xeon-Prozessor Mac OS X 10.6.6) compatible for this program ? the Vienna Symphonic Library VSL Special Edition.

  • perfection in it's best, planning to buy the complete bundle, worth each cent...

  • Wanna get the super pack but its so dang expensive over $ 12000

  • Quick question, guys. Can I use VSL like a standard VST, and do my compositions in midi? Furthermore, what's this slave computer business I keep hearing about? Why can't I work with single instruments in Cubase like I do with my synths?

  • sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger

  • This seems to sound more convincing and refined than East West.

  • Hello, my name is David, I would like to know which computer is using to move all those tracks without having any problem, what features are needed?

  • pompous company charging an arm and leg for shite.

  • avaiable for fruity loops i suppose... right?

  • That is very nice

  • This is absolutely amazing!!! I have EWQLS and it sounds good, but VSL has more articulations which makes it sound a tad bit better. Project Sam has a good sound, but again I think it's 2nd to VSL.

  • The God of all soft synth strings. I am saving money to buy one for me. O by the way, SuperPawuk, you need to actually start buying the softwares before commenting anything as ridiculous as you've. If VSL is bad to your ears than next thing you should do is set an appointment with an ENT surgeon.

O on the second thought a Neuro Surgeon should be a better choice.

  • would love to buy it, sounds incredibly good

  • LMFAO dude drop thousands on software dnt even kno how to use it. WTF @SuperPawuk are you on coke ?

  • LOOK PEOPLE,IT'S LIKE THIS.THERE'S ONLY THREE V-ORCHS WORTH CONSIDERING TO HAVE GREAT QUALITY SAMPLES & ARTICULATIONS FOR REALISTIC MOCKUPS.

    1-VSL.PERIOD!

    & THE OTHER 2 THAT CAN FIGHT FOR THE NO.2 POSITION,ARE EWQL'S SO,& SONIVOX'S SYMPHONIC...& OBVIOUSLY I MEAN COMPLETE VERSIONS,COLLECTIONS OR WHATEVER U WANNA CALL IT.& BETWEEN THOSE TWO,I'D GO FOR SONIVOX'S LIBRARY.IT'S GREAT,& I'M NOT SAYING EWQL'S SUCKS.BUT YEAH,,,NO DOUBT VSL KILLS ALL.

  • @BESTUNDRATEDEUCER what do you think of new hollywood strings? what is the best for violin runs, i need it for a disco track.

  • @cortezforever How ya doing buddy?Great I hope.Well look I havent personally worked with that library,( & well the best perspective 1 can have on something is achieved when actually trying it oneself),but I have heard great reviews on it.It is said to have a vast ammount of unprecendented articulations, features like finger positioning, there's the advantage that it's studio recorded(as opposed to in an orchestral hall like the SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA,& thus leting u reververate to ur liking),,,,

  • @cortezforever Recording quality is of course immaculable, ships in its own hardrive, etc. But the issue here is always how one may feel with the results achieved on personal projects. But as all quality libraries,it's not cheap,& running it requires a great deal of cpu & ram.i7's are recommended,as well as at least 8 gigs RAM to run it decently.I for one have no other need than VSL.But then again that's just me & many others. If u are looking for just strings, check out LA Scoring strings.=)

  • @cortezforever For more than acceptable quality of course,,& well if u need something straight forward,& with indispensable basic articulations,& not to heavy on ur resources, check out Cinematic Strings.Maybe that can work for what u require.IF u want the best, well without a doubt check out VSL string packs.U just might consider investing on a product forever garanteed to deliver,at high costs, but the best results IMO .I've yet to make my personal comparisons between VSL strings n EWQL-HS.=)

  • @cortezforever Session strings

  • !!!EWQL Hollywood Strings!!! > EWQL Symphonic Orchestra > Vienne Symphonic Library

  • I don´t know ,but EWQL sounds better ;P

  • "One midi channel for 1 instrument, no matter how many articulations you wanna use" so is that means I can plays as many articualtions simultaneously as I want using on midi channel? Let say sustain violin going with spicato?

  • omg i dropped thousands on this shit! VSL YOU SUCK I WANT A REFUND! the strings are waaaaaaay shit!

  • @SuperPawuk You dropped thousands on software you didn't even research or look into beforehand? Not sure why you deserve a refund...

  • @SuperPawuk You obviously need new ears

  • @ScorchinBeats I SOOOOOOOOO AGREE DUDE.WTF IS THIS GUY SMOKING???VSL IS THE BEST & MOST COMPLETE V-ORCHESTRA EVER CONCIEVED.O YEAH,& THE DUDE WHO ASKS IF ITS BETTER THAN MIROSLAV,,,THAT'S JUST TOO FUNNY.

  • @SuperPawuk VSL is known for their pure and straight orchestral sound, which a lot of "purist" in Hollywood actually use! Like John Williams and (early) James Horner just to mention a very few. But If your looking for that big fat epic Hollywood blockbuster sound you should check out East West libraries. What you also can do is to tweak the VSL with plug-in effects like reverb, delay, filters to make it more your "own sound" if your miss pleased with the sounds inside VSL. Good luck!

  • @cinemats

hahah john williams would never use vsl ;) but hans zimmer does ;)

  • @SuperPawuk Your brain cells seem to be malfunctioning, vienna symphonic is amazing. Research before you go out and waste your money on something you don't like.

  • @SuperPawuk

What's exactly wrong with the strings? I don't see anything wrong with them...

  • Indeed this is the ultimate sound when it comes to classical, orchestral and traditional music, but still it's very expensive for normal customers to buy the large version (550gb at 5000+ dollars price).

If you are intermediate level composer and want to get a purchase a solid software (for various styles) I recommend the Komplete 6 Bundle Pack from Native Instruments. And again, this is for high level professionals and is the most high quality sound in the world. :)

  • so does the program they give you to use allow for import and/or export of midi files? if I have something already written but I just want a more realistic sound with Vienna instead of my current vst, can I export the midi file to vienna's program?

  • VSL is the most realistic orchestral Virtual Instrument on the market to this day.

    Period.

  • this is nice but you just cant go wrong with project sam

  • Is all of this done with a piano?

  • Yeah im pretty sure it is mate

  • a midi keyboard yeah.

  • what is this

  • its a program so i can record music from my keyboard

  • This is a video tutorial for a virtual software instrument. This instrument can be played my using a music keyboard (like a hardware synthesizer, or a MIDI controller) attached to the computer.

The keyboard essentially triggers sounds from recordings of real orchestral instruments, which have been sampled note-by-note (chromatically). The sounds reside on the user's hard-drive(s).

It allows composers to write very complex orchestral music from a modern computer.

  • Man.. The Vienna Superpackage which contains all the samples they've made costs around €15k.. Wicked ;)

  • I know this might seem like a dumb question, but could an experienced musician tell that this isn't a real orchestra on the first listen?

  • @Xiricon not to easily my friend. Im listening to this now and i know its fake, and i find that very hard to belive. the amount of samples for each instrument is rediculous.

  • probably not

  • Yes you can,

    The articulation of the strings.

Fast movements are the hardest to reproduce,

    Slower parts more easy.

Still it is a great library.

  • @Xiricon The answer is yes.

  • Where is the song or the music session or project?? I didn't find it in the dvd's

  • @proprotools1234 It is in the User section on their website

  • Круто!

  • can you use this with Kontakt Player 2 or Sibelius? I notate everything.

  • I'd imagine. It can run as stand alone or a vst plugin. I notate everything in Sonar and from what I've read it would be a breeze setting it up. No different from my EWQLSO Silver.

  • You can run this with Sibelius, but not Kontakt 2, as well as with Finale. The sound sets can be found on the vienna instruments website.

  • Comment removed

  • @gtb224 You can use it with Sibelius - on VSL's site you can access soundsets to get you up and running in Sibelius...you wouldn't be able to use it in Kontakt player as VSL use their own player to run the samples...Vienna Instruments Player or the more recent Vienna Instruments Pro..

  • Man, this product rocks!

Wish I could afford it X_X

    :D

  • this does sound better than miroslav

  • Logic

  • Can I use it in FL studio??

  • Yes you can. Every DAW support VST.

  • Ok thanks ;)

  • Hey guys which is better? EWQLSO Platinum Pro XP or This one? The EWQLSO Platinum Pro Xp Eats lots amounts of CPU you probably need 4 Computers with 16GB ram and 2 Core i7 Xtreme Processors... how does VSL behaves with system requeriments?

  • Will this work with my Cakewalk Music Creator 4 or my SONAR 7 Producer Edition?

  • idk about Music Creator 4, but it definitely works with SONAR 7.

  • Wow. I've always loved Vienna.

I can't wait to get the Special Edition. T~T

  • I bought the whole Orchestra samples, all of them in the 1st addition - then VSL dropped us all in the .....by not helping us get to upgrade - wanted to charge a fortune - will never buy from them again

  • @hootersnooter I also bought the 1st edition orchestral cube with performance set. Then gigastudio shut down never to be used again. I, as a customer, feel deeply hurt, sad and mistaken for giving VSL $10.000. They just dropped me like that. They should have made a VST conversion for their original files for people who PAYED them with their life savings. Never support this company. They will rip you OFF, and their supportsystem is TERRIBLE. I feel like I was betrayed after my big investment.

  • very nice..but thıs ıs server mind..a few comp,a few producer,a few rme or apogee :D ana 1 fkkcn powerful host pc..

  • Wish I could afford vsl. :P

  • I own it. Suck it, bitch! :)

  • Heh heh, I'm jelous. One of my friends in Hong Kong managed to get it too. I have EWQLSO Silver . . . a far cry from vsl :P

  • Hey that's not a bad libarary. :) Jokes aside, I had to work very hard to afford VSL, but their prices came down a lot in the last few years. Honestly, the VSL "Special Edition" is an AWESOME library and a good intro to the whole family. I have used it on many projects and it does just fine. The only other library I have had to buy is "Soprano Choirs". Are you a producer / composer?

  • Hey. I'm a hobbiest, and compose for fun. I do some alright stuff. Doing som arrangments for a friend as well who is just beginning her singing career. Yeah I've looked at Special Edition. Definatley attempting to save some coin to get that. And I like that you can buy individual instruments as well as downloads. I'd like to get the special edition and build on it with singles and such.

  • Have you got EWQLSO Silver for free?

  • Nope. Had my bro use his credit card, and had to help him pay it down to use it (I don't have a credit card).

  • The demo song around 1:30 is absolutely beautiful.

There has been so much attention put into the detail of the song. Great work. :-)

  • 1:31 has a strange Strings marcato
