  • mike stroud has the best headbang ever

  • i was waiting for somebody to shout YOU'S TROLLIN

  • The drum beat defiantly came from a beat machine. I use it in some of my work. They could actually be playing the keys/guitar, not sure i would have to be there live.

  • did you people really think the drums from their albums came from a drumset? give me a break

  • Ratatat is DA SHIT!

  • douche, dont show me the theater! show me ratatat!

  • Imagine been baked while watching this Live!

  • Imagine dropping a dose.

  • @WompWomp92 and dropping the bass :O

  • so fucking want to be there. love ratatat so much. come to the uk you bastards!

  • Comment removed

  • is this at the logan square auditorium?

  • @equinequeen yep, it is. good eye.

  • must be a cultural gap

  • blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

  • awesome i wish i was there lol

  • How are their drums made live? Beatpad? Pre-recorded?

  • playback

  • id say prerecorded.. definitely not real live drums

  • @LilMaxo4President well theres no drummer on the stage so clearly its a recorded beat

  • maybe the guy's doing it on the keyboard

  • @LadyObese nah i think hes playing the keyboard on the keyboard.

  • weeell maybe that would be because THERE IS NO DRUMMER but i dont know im just guessing

  • basic beat ?

  • Their genre is FUCKING best mlb the show song ever.

  • haha i was at this show

  • What type of organ is that? Keyboard (I think it's a Nord or Moog)? Does the keyboard come with organ preset engine...Achieved sound? Digital or Analog? Enlighten me...Not trying to copy but am curious as to how they achieve their sound.

  • i ask the same question every time i here them if you find the answers please pass on that information

  • I'm pretty sure its a Nord Lead (on the wikipedia page for this instrument it claims Ratatat as a user and in some of their other live videos you can clearly make it out). I guess it tries to sound like analog (and obviously does a great job at it) but its really digital.

  • they r awsome :D love it !

  • BEST ratatat song, damn it.

    love these dudes.

hope i'll see them in LA

  • Ratatat's genre of music?

    That's easy..

    It's called "Good Fucking Music"

  • LMFAO true fact i sk8 to them

  • Same here. I longboard to them. Its great!

  • COME TO MEMPHIS PLLLEEEAAASSSEEEE

  • they are so fucking good live! i have yet to see or hear a bad ratatat live show.

  • you guys are ridiculous its def electronic music no JAZZ ?!?! They are from brooklyn and they grew up in the rave scene the just wanted to bend the sound a little bit.

  • jazz? for sure

    they do alot of improvisation

    by they way

i didnt said that they make techno

  • then take a look at their myspace site!

rock / electronica / hip hop

    whats wrong with that?

i mean, they have 2 remix albums full with hip hop stuff!

one of the best bands in our time for me!

  • everytime i hear this song i keep thinking my phone is ringing haha

  • hhahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahaha!!!!

  • My, what a well performed piece.

  • I fucking love Ratatat

  • ha the synth player screwed up at 0:11 but still i wanna see ratatat live soo bad

  • Sometimes they don't "Mess Up"

If it's not exactly like the albums it doesn't mean it's a mistake.

A lot of musicians play the songs different than the albums when they play it live!

  • He messed up there, listen

  • Actually, he played that "offkey" note twice in the song. I agree with Takenbysilence, its a variation on the song.

  • twice, but different parts in the song. you are just show that he messed up twice.

  • I doubt he played it wrong, just in a different key....

  • NOICE song :p

  • um isn't this more like electro/rock/indie/whaterver with hip hop/break beat influences

i mean techno is more mono rhythmic usually and harder sounding richie hawtin and the like

anyway i think it has a very vintage nostalgic feel to it much like most of our youth culture today

  • ur right about what u thought it is more like

    its not techno dude

  • Actually, when you put their CD into iTunes, the default type is Electronic/Indie or Electronic/Dance.

  • but itunes has no clue what its talking about. i put in a bayside cd and it was trying to tell me they were electronic/hip hop

  • no this is this generations music it has very little to do with jazz at all more like really good techno man dont start mixing up incorrect music genres

  • actually this structurally has much more to do with jazz than with techno so eat your own face.

  • exactly. u have to pretty small minded to think the way of making the music dictates what it is.

thats like me saying beethoven isn't classical because i played it on keyboard instead of a piano

  • this is so our generations jazz music

  • i think our generations jazz music is still jazz

  • uhm can't it just be 'music' we don't need it to be classified to enjoy it. i think it sounds awesome that's all i need to know

  • im not saying the label IS the art. labels help us conceptualize and discuss art.

  • depends on ur generation i guess. im refering to the fact that most generations make their own contributions to history and art, and sometimes they serve a similiar purpose as previous advances.

ratatat pushes musical envelopes and makes you make your own opinion about it by not providing lyrics to restrict the meaning.

  • SAW THEM LIVE LAST NIGHT! I was at the front of the mosh pit. They were epic.

  • u've experienced my dream...and i hate u for it, jk
