Pandits and Muslims are the same ethnically. Muslims are those pandits who converted into Islam, while Pandits today are those who resisted the conversion. The SUNIIS (Sheikhs) in the Kashmir valley are ALL Pandit converts.....Shias (Syeds) on the other hand are NOT pandit converts but have come to kashmir more recently, from Iran.
