  • Nice job!

  • Every year, this 'theme' song applies to me as well haha.

Great band, great song... and a cover that certainly did not disappoint. Thank you for this.

  • Just beautiful! Love the acoustic :)

  • Good job. I have always loved hearing this song around The Fourth of July. Its coming up soon:)

  • the first time you say 'mexican'... you kinda do the white man politically corect quick version like ur not sure if you can say it.... um...that deflates all the emotion in the song...if you had the first clue about what this song is about...well... suffice to say... one can do better...

  • Great song! a little fast, wheres the Feeeling?

  • went searching for this song because of today... it's been my theme song for the 4th for years. hope you're single.

  • Well done. It's especially poignant considering Jay Bennett's death - "Whatever Happened, I apologize."

  • What is Jay Bennett's connection to this song?

  • Just before he died, Bennett released an album called "Whatever Happened I Apologize."

  • Part 2

If anybody should have apologized for anything it should have been Jeff, but he was completely silent even after Jay died -- his death at such a young age no doubt connected to his being fired in the way he was fired from Wilco. And the rest of the members of Wilco didn't do anything at the time to make Jeff realize he was completely out of line for doing what he did. They just fell in line.

  • Part 3

They have something to apologize for, too, but nobody from Wilco said one meaningful word about Jay's passing. The whole lot of them suck royally and I can't really enjoy Wilco's music anymore. Frankly, despite the generally positive reception the new album seems to be getting, I think it's clear that it's far from their best work.

  • Part 1

Thanks for responding. I may be wrong, but I think it's a fair assumption that borrowed phrase was meant for Jeff Tweedy which makes me that much angrier that he publicly fired Jay (in the film "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" -- aptly titled) for no reason. The fact that the firing was for no reason is especially reflected in the "Whatever Happened" part of the phrase and it just pisses me off that Jay felt HE had to apologize at all to that dick Jeff.

  • great song....
