They don't make games like they used to.... For being a ps2 game it was more real than any other of these new games. camping and moving slow was the only way to survive unlike the new ones where you run around frantically and can't hide anywhere. It's to bad they're messing up socom 4

socom 1,2 and 3 were the best, combined assault was okay, confrontation was decent and socom 4 is not even socom, it was just some generic third person shooter, i was playing campaign and i was eating bullets and surviving, taking rocket after rocket from helicopters while mowing down enemies, i know that the NAVY SEALS are badass but they are not God.
@xxxCODExxx1 did you know that when you play on easy you can take more hits then on normal or hard? try buffing up the diffeculty level for a bit more realism. also, in what way is SOCOM 4 not SOCOM?
@TheSpeedslayer yes i know the difficulty can be raised, the reason why i said it's not socom because it just dosen't feel like Socom at all, i know they want to keep it fresh and new but they didn't have to completely change the entire game into something else, it's a good game but it never really gives me that Socom feel, it's kind of like playing a somewhat generic third person shooter, it's a pretty good game but it does not feel like Socom at all, sorry that's just my opinion.

@Tick386 Socom 4 is far from a COD clone. Theyres nothing COD about it. No first person, no killstreaks wiping you out non stop. Have you even played socom 4? Its not socom 2 but its far from COD. Socom 4 still has lots of strategy, you cant just run around looking lost unless you want to die in 10secs in classic mode. And in other modes like bomb squad you need actual team work to stop the bomb tech or to get your bomb tech to A,B,C safely to disarm bombs and win and so on in other modes as too
@PrinceVampiro In COD u cant run around the map and shoot ppl. From what I saw, but not played. I can tell it has a 3rd person COD feel. Plus the single player pissed me off the most. Run and gunning and health regen. Also Socom 2 u could switch to a somewhat 1st person view. Thats the view I played on so Im upset about that. The gae has just been dumbed down like The Call Of Duty Series. Luckily Treyarch put some strategy back in that game.

@Tick386 It depends on the game mode, when team work is needed you get it. If you ever play a socom game you will hear more ppl on the mic telling locations of enemies then any other shooter. And yes you can win demo and headquarters both without communication. I play COD, or did but I cant stand it anymore. Ppl play for K/D, A win doesnt matter as long as they get a good K/D. Someone killing an enemy close by you doesnt count as teamwork btw. And what ideas from COD? Name some, because I cant.

@PrinceVampiro I dont know man. COD started hit markers. Started the showing points earned after kill and showing what challenged you did while killing them. A lot of games (Socom 4 being one of them) took that idea. Oh also health regen. U can't show me a shooter that doesnt do those things now. What I liked that I saw in Socom 4 was that recoil still exist, but then I heard from a couple ppl that. U get a lot of random head shots that shouldnt happen. meaning it isnt skill. its programmed.
@Tick386 Well times have changed now. Gaining experience for unlocks and things are good which is why its caught on so well. But socom 4 has both worlds. It has the classic mode that made socom what it is, which is no respawn, no health regen ect. And it also has adapted to whats popular now, the whole respawn and health regen things. Having both will allow them to reach a wider audience because alot of ppl would complain and not buy it if there was no respawn type gameplay as well.
@Tick386 S4 is still in beta. They just released a new patch that pulled the camera back more for better vision and they fixed accuracy issues with guns and grenades. The headshots were sometimes random because the more you held down the button to shoot the less accurate the guns became and bullets sprayed around randomly a lot especially while firing from the hip. But they fixed accuracy issues much better and are still tweaking things, game should be good on release.
@TheGenericInk You just don't get it, I could lose a whole weekend playing SOCOM 2, not just because of the game, which was unbelievable, but the community. The banter in the lobbies, the ability to write your own taunts, the teamkill respawn games which had everyone in hysterics, no open mics and you may not believe this, getting nervous before a clan match. All this has gone and this is why SOCOM vets cannot relate to SOCOM 4

@Tick386 It depends on the game mode, when team work is needed you get it. If you ever play a socom game you will hear more ppl on the mic telling locations of enemies then any other shooter. And yes you can win demo and headquarters both without communication. I play COD, or did but I cant stand it anymore. Ppl play for K/D, A win doesnt matter as long as they get a good K/D. Someone killing an enemy close by you doesnt count as teamwork btw. And what ideas from COD? Name some, because I cant.

@Tick386 Oh and another thing.. It doesnt matter what shooter comes out, all the little kids and fanboys claim that its a COD rip off. So player reviews means nothing at all. Just like if we were talking MMO's.. All the WoW fanboys say oh this mmo stole wows ideas blah blah. When in fact WoW stole games before it ideas. Same with COD, if you say one shooter copied COD then youre dumb. Because COD took ideas from everything else. Except maybe killstreaks, but socom doesnt have killstreaks anyway

@PrinceVampiro I dont know man. COD started hit markers. Started the showing points earned after kill and showing what challenged you did while killing them. A lot of games (Socom 4 being one of them) took that idea. Oh also health regen. U can't show me a shooter that doesnt do those things now. What I liked that I saw in Socom 4 was that recoil still exist, but then I heard from a couple ppl that. U get a lot of random head shots that shouldnt happen. meaning it isnt skill. its programmed.

@Tick386 Well times have changed now. Gaining experience for unlocks and things are good which is why its caught on so well. But socom 4 has both worlds. It has the classic mode that made socom what it is, which is no respawn, no health regen ect. And it also has adapted to whats popular now, the whole respawn and health regen things. Having both will allow them to reach a wider audience because alot of ppl would complain and not buy it if there was no respawn type gameplay as well.

@Tick386 S4 is still in beta. They just released a new patch that pulled the camera back more for better vision and they fixed accuracy issues with guns and grenades. The headshots were sometimes random because the more you held down the button to shoot the less accurate the guns became and bullets sprayed around randomly a lot especially while firing from the hip. But they fixed accuracy issues much better and are still tweaking things, game should be good on release.

@TheGenericInk You just don't get it, I could lose a whole weekend playing SOCOM 2, not just because of the game, which was unbelievable, but the community. The banter in the lobbies, the ability to write your own taunts, the teamkill respawn games which had everyone in hysterics, no open mics and you may not believe this, getting nervous before a clan match. All this has gone and this is why SOCOM vets cannot relate to SOCOM 4
