That's not what he said. He is talking about three concepts: the Me, the Myself, and the Ego. He tells the interviewer that the solution is to "align yourself with Me". Where does he say "you become a good disciple and we don't have a problem"?
The guy is a fraud (was a fraud), it's obvious. When someone is truly enlightened, it just shines through, it's not a person talking but the Divine through that human being. Just check out Adyashanti, Gangaji or Eckhart Tolle... this guy claims HE HAS THE SOLUTION and tries to convince you of that. A true spiritual teacher invites you NOT TO BELIEVE HIM but to investigate deep inside yourself and to discover the truth.

Actually, BL told people not to beleive him, but to live their truth, too. Why do you judge him when you obviously don´t know anything about him? Enlightened or not ?.. You can never know what enlightenment is. But you can sense, see and thus, to some extent, know what it is not. You can easily identify the ways of the ego, in yourself and in others, and aspecially if someone is trying to fake enlightenment.
This guy was a mess, like most of us, and it's very obvious. He was misleading himself and others... As a "spiritual teacher" he was a fraud. As a "spiritual seeker", maybe not.
Then there are those who say that Nisargadatta wasn't enlightened since he was a smoker, and so on... I personally think that God's ways can be very, very surprising. The truth is : I DON'T KNOW. I don't know ANYTHING. And what a relief it is, to not know anything! Maybe Barry acts "as if" he had an ego, just to shake your beliefs about egos and enlightenment, and guide you to the DON'T KNOW place?
Oh don't get me wrong, i couldn't agree more with you, my friend. It's wonderful to "not know" and to accept the natural resistance that the ego opposes to that. At first it's very hard, and then resisting the resistance fades more and more. That's my experience of it...
At best, BL can give a few useful "pointers" but a teacher's best asset is not his teaching but his aura, his radiant enlightened persona. So yes, in a way, listening to BL is a step up from being enslaved in materialism. ;-)

Of all the so called selfhelp books I've read so far, only the words of J. Krishnamurti and B. Long brought deep understanding on me. That's because something so unconfortable, so unpleasant to our culture and the way we are used to "be" and think can't be but the truth.
But that's of course just my opinion, and, as we are entering an era in which everyone is encouraged to be his own master, whatever doesn't touch you heart in the way Barry's words did with mine, you can just skip.
The only way to know a master is to be it within. The only way to be it within is to surrender all concepts, including those of how a master should be, or I am tied to the ground and can never soar in the timeless void that this master is. Listen, to the truth with your heart, not your head, listen within, and you will sense the true depth of Barry Long, and of you.
This man is not enlightened. Many of the things he is speaking of are true, some of them are false, but he is clearly not in a state of enligtenment. In fact, he is entirely confined by the realms of his own logic.

That's not what he said. He is talking about three concepts: the Me, the Myself, and the Ego. He tells the interviewer that the solution is to "align yourself with Me". Where does he say "you become a good disciple and we don't have a problem"?

The guy is a fraud (was a fraud), it's obvious. When someone is truly enlightened, it just shines through, it's not a person talking but the Divine through that human being. Just check out Adyashanti, Gangaji or Eckhart Tolle... this guy claims HE HAS THE SOLUTION and tries to convince you of that. A true spiritual teacher invites you NOT TO BELIEVE HIM but to investigate deep inside yourself and to discover the truth.
By the way, pay attention to his breathing... he's far from relaxed here.

How can we recognize true enlightenment? Certainly Eckhart Tolle (the others I don't know) has a striking appearence, which adds power to his words, but is he Divine? I question it..

There's nothing to question, just open your beeing to what's coming from them, or him - for Eckhart Tolle. Either it hits something in you, and you'll resonate with it, or you won't... "Divine" is just a word meaning "our essence" : Eckhart is no more "divine" than you and me. He just realized the true nature of all things, thus his own nature, or in other words, the "essence" of us all comes in an untainted form through a human being - Eckhart Tolle, or Adyashanti or Gangaji, or Ramana Maharshi

Actually, BL told people not to beleive him, but to live their truth, too. Why do you judge him when you obviously don´t know anything about him? And had you met him you would have experienced his truth shining through him so deeply and gracefully. As in Eckhart Tolle (the other two I don´t know of). Furthermore, he had the honesty to admit he is just a person too. Not a perfect saint as we usually expect masters to be when we are still tied to a conceptual understanding of the HOLY.

I know enough, i mean the guy's main concern was : "how to make love to a woman, the Barry Long way". LMAO. Now how spiritual is that ? Funky old perv, trying to pass himself as a spiritual teacher... and even if i didn't know about that, just look at the guy, i don't find anything awake about his behavior or words. Shortly put : he's a fraud. But a fraud has a pupose too, just as a bad book, or a bad apple has : to point us toward what is true by incarnating what is false.

No, you don´t know enough. I´m sorry you have no knowledge yourself about how to become one with the divine mystery through love, any love, not just between man and woman. Because love truly is the way. I see no love at all in how you talk about him, no truth. Only anger. If his words are wrong for you, okay. Don´t listen to them. You have found masters who are more right for you. But you can never be sure about another who they are. Everyone is God. Don´t drag them in the dirt!

No Problem. The thing about comments is that everyone has a right to make them whether negative or positive. What I have observed is anyone can criticize that's easy. And the person that says so and so is full of crap doesn't make it so. Are they assume they themselves aren't full of it.Post their beliefs and their explanation on how life should be lived. We have enough critics. More examples are needed.

Enlightened or not ?.. You can never know what enlightenment is. But you can sense, see and thus, to some extent, know what it is not. You can easily identify the ways of the ego, in yourself and in others, and aspecially if someone is trying to fake enlightenment.
This guy was a mess, like most of us, and it's very obvious. He was misleading himself and others... As a "spiritual teacher" he was a fraud. As a "spiritual seeker", maybe not.

Then there are those who say that Nisargadatta wasn't enlightened since he was a smoker, and so on... I personally think that God's ways can be very, very surprising. The truth is : I DON'T KNOW. I don't know ANYTHING. And what a relief it is, to not know anything! Maybe Barry acts "as if" he had an ego, just to shake your beliefs about egos and enlightenment, and guide you to the DON'T KNOW place?

Oh don't get me wrong, i couldn't agree more with you, my friend. It's wonderful to "not know" and to accept the natural resistance that the ego opposes to that. At first it's very hard, and then resisting the resistance fades more and more. That's my experience of it...
At best, BL can give a few useful "pointers" but a teacher's best asset is not his teaching but his aura, his radiant enlightened persona. So yes, in a way, listening to BL is a step up from being enslaved in materialism. ;-)

Of all the so called selfhelp books I've read so far, only the words of J. Krishnamurti and B. Long brought deep understanding on me. That's because something so unconfortable, so unpleasant to our culture and the way we are used to "be" and think can't be but the truth.
But that's of course just my opinion, and, as we are entering an era in which everyone is encouraged to be his own master, whatever doesn't touch you heart in the way Barry's words did with mine, you can just skip.

This man is not enlightened. Many of the things he is speaking of are true, some of them are false, but he is clearly not in a state of enligtenment. In fact, he is entirely confined by the realms of his own logic.

Wake up you are asleep. Teachers do not always speak in pleasant overtures, take the Aghoris of India who are well known for their unkind ways. Aside from that, you do not have the ability to comprehend Barry's teachings because you are not ready.

You give up anger by not identifying with it. For example, this Barry dude might have displayed anger, but you don't know his inner world. He may be completely unidentified with it, just the watcher. Or so is my limited understanding at this point.
