  • The engine is a Chev ... So the bow tie is appropriate ... The car is a Holden ... So a bow tie on the grille or back is not appropriate

  • @simondgw1965 How wrong you are The MOTOR is GM, not Chev at all. Chevrolet isnt a Car or Motor manufacturer per say, GM is. Chevrolet is a Brand for General Motors New Brands for Chev include Corvette,Camaro Cruze , Impala. Its like saying I have a Commodore motor in my Car. Putting Chevrolet badges on a Holden is only done by fools who believe the Motor is Chev, YES the Motors are in Chevs. Where on your Motor does it say Chevrolet ?

  • This is a GM Motorsport Streetracer, custom grind, 231/237 @ 113LSA ... so it's a big cam. The car is running 4 into 1 extractors, high flow cats, 3" cat-back and Varex mufflers, Russo OTR CAI, MAF-less tune, omp Cams push rods, GMM lifters and valve springs. This is result was on a Mainline ... so it is VERY hard, but VERY accurate. If I had retuned it to E85 I would have been getting around 330rwkw Or ... are you getting rwkw confused with rwhp? This is just over 440 rwhp.

  • around $3.2k for cam, pushrods, valve springs, timing chain/gear, fitting and tuning. about $3.5k for extractors, high flow cats, cat back with varex mufflers. $600 for Russo OTR CAI. big HP gain for small investment!!! got to love the L98!!!

  • I want $48k (It's an SSV with sunroof, roof mount DVD, redhot trim. Also has Cadence wildbeast sub in boot, MB Quartz splits in front, Cadence 2-ways in back doors ... big Sony amp. I've had it since new ... delivered Sept 07 ... only done 45,000km ... mods were only done last Oct. It really is immaculate. Won heaps of trophies. Was in Street Commodores a couple of months ago.   • Simon - What sort of fuel figures you getting out of a 113 lobe? Just about to do mine, want it choppy but it's an everyday driver so bit worried bout the fuel.

  • cheers bud, mine is actually an auto that runs a 3.25 ratio. the cam is a custom grind 240/244 by camtech, as for power i am making 301rwkw. I'm not a hundred percent sure what type of dyno that was used to tune my ute though.

    Ahhh ... that's a big cam grid ... mine is 231 / 237 @ 113 ... that's why you're pushing the big torque numbers ... and the lower kw is prob due to the stall converter.

    Good grid for an auto!

  • @simondgw1965 haha yeah, a stally is next im my ever extending list of mods to come. having a bit of trouble with the stock one, wont convert even enough torque to spin the wheels doing a static. just hovers around the 2.7k mark much to my dissapointment.

  • not a real great torque output for the mods listed, my VE Maloo makes 740nm with a cam, tune, CAI, four into 1 headers and full 3 inch exhaust. and its only a ls2 6L

    That is a good result ... nice job!

    Actually 650nm is pretty typical of this cam size and mods to an L98, however the 3.7 diff ratio in your HSV as apposed to the 3.45 in my SS would also help your torque number.

    What are your kw's out of curiosity? Your cam grid may give higher torque lower kw ... which for example is good for drift cars. And also what was the dyno? This was on a mainline which is hard but accurate.

  • Thanks very much! Have done a bit more since this was shot. Colour coded the mounting brackets that tip back the radiator for the OTR, the dipstick end, and the washer and coolant reservoir caps. About to change back mufflers for Varex - will repost once done.

  • Its a full polished stainless Xforce with 1" 3/4 extractors, high flow cats, and 3" cat back. I'm about to change the rear mufflers to the Varex - this thing is very lumpy and very loud, I want to have the option to quieten it down. Exhausts are very personal. I went X-Force because they were amazing value for money and look incredible underneath the back of the car. Willall are only Adel so speak to GM Motorsports. They are the suppliers of the cam I'm running. Google them for details.

  • Just over $3k for cam, pushrods, valve springs, fitted and tuned. $2700 for the full exhaust, $600 for the OTR. Cannot describe how different it is ... BUT you have to enjoy really driving it every moment... which I do. If your R8 is an LS2 then you should also budget $2800 for a set of Higgins heads if you want to achieve this sort of power. LS3's have the same head design as the L98 in the SS which already breathe well. Good luck!

  • Powdercoated by Steve Wicks & Sons in Adelaide. $250 total to have the five mags acid dipped then coated. Although I doubt if he'd do them again for the same price ... apparently they needed a lot of work once the origional paint was off to get them smooth. Sound like GM's wheel supplier uses a fair bit of spray putty to get the smooth finish.
