I like to play around with Capo's as well.. and I sometimes use a 'DADGAD' capo which allows DADGAD tuning without retuning the guitar from standard tuning..of course the fingering is slightly different with the DADGAD capo than with retuning to DADGAD This Capo is also good when used with a conventional 'full string barr capo' as it means you can move your DADGAD capo position up and down the neck.
Its true what you say about singing in different keys..I know many of my friends who always play in the same key because they say it suits there voice..but I disagree some songs sound better in certain keys and you should try to learn to sing them in those keys.
