mary this is a beautiful version, reminds me of the girl next door who unknown to me had a crush, her Mom told me years later she cried her eyes out when she found out i was getting married the next day!! she was only 13.
I'm one of the Shannons and just discovered your postings of our recordings. What spectacular memories they bring! It was heaven to sing in harmony with my best friends. Thanks for the memories...
@marycowley Thanks so much for your comments! It's amazing to hear from a member of one of my favorite girl groups, one that is especially hard to find information about. Thank you!
This is a great cover version of the original by the Poni-Tails. It's hard to believe that this version is from 1968.. ten years after the original was released. I've never heard the flip side "Don't Ask Me". If you have the flip side, can you please share it? Thanks.
Glad you like this version! "Don't Ask Me"? The flip side that I have is "Mister Sunshine Man" and I have it posted along with the one other single release by the Shannons.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. The two reference books I had indicated that Don't Ask ME was the flip side. I do like Born Too Late much batter than Mr. Sunshine.
Oh yes, I love that too! Sounds like a harpischord. The only thing is that this version is so short, it seems to fade out before the ending but that's how it was recorded. So beautiful though. I think the Shannons were produced by one of the Ventures. There is some Venture involvement in there somewhere.

GREAT VERSION - I especially love the instrumental background music fluttering with the intricate harmonies!
