What did the Royal Navy and HMS Cornwall do?
NOTHING. They WATCHED a bunch of ass-backwards third-world camel-jocks KIDNAP over a dozen sailors WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT, then they made NO EFFORT to rescue them.
@ironhorzmn Yeah, the US would probably have opened fire on the Iranians if it was their sailors.........causing yet another war they can not handle in the process lol! You see, there is such a thing called a declaration of war, opening fire would have caused such a war. So yes the US would have opened fire because intelligent diplomacy is non existant to cowboy run goverments like yours lmao. Still at least our Special forces do not leave crashed helicopters behind where ever they opperate lol.
IDIOT. Iranian armed forces attacking and kidnaping Royal Navy forces was NOT a warlike act?
No wonder nobody respects the UK anymore. You guys are a fuckin joke.
Did you know the two OFFICERS in charge of the operation made public propaganda statements as ordered by Iran APOLOGIZING for being 'in Iranian waters' when in fact they were NOT?
Are you proud of these men who rolled over for the enemy while US troops throughout history have endured torture and murder in resisting their captors?
@ironhorzmn An attack on Iran after YOUR debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan would be seen as an attack on Islam! I know that its hard for Americans to understand that there is a whole world outside of your inwardly looking, young nation. But that is the reason we did not kick off another war.The same reason you have not gone after your spies captured by Iran. We British have been fighting wars for a thousand years and have learnt diplomacy through it. Your nation shows its immaturity in such cases!
The fact is that at the moment of truth, when your crew and equipment were under assault by a hostile force, (even if it WAS only a couple of rowboats) the Royal Navy FAILED to protect them.
Your officers not only betrayed them by failing to act, those in the captured crew also betrayed them by giving aid and comfort to their captors.
Your leaders are cowards, your society is rotting and you're held in contempt by your enemies.
Oh and why don't you type this into your search engine. " British SBS soldier to recieve medal of honour" Then look up all the unit citations granted to British Units by American presidents from WWII to the present day.SAS,SBS & SRR are all used more by the US command than by our own, thats for a reason, this was proven recently when Washington started crying about us redeploying to aid our forces and not yours. So to answer your question Inferiority complex? Nah mate, supperiority! enough said!
Oh and another fact. All of our wars we've fought since WWII (With the exception of Iraq and Afghanistan, which were American led, regardless of the fact that we've been fighting terrorists for 60 years and know more about it than you......You just fund terrorism-IRA. Which is why i was not in the least bit sad when terrorism came to your shores in 2001) We've won! How many have you? lol. again, enough said.
@ironhorzmn My god you are boring me now. read what i said "with the exception of".........idiot, you read what you want to read dickhead. Speaking German?? No i do not think so. as i have said previously, WE stopped opperation Sealion before you even got your overweight asses of the fucking fence! Oh and yeah, what langugae is you speak again? Or try to fucking speak lol
@ironhorzmn You wouldn't by any chance be running out of insults would you? Its just you are being very pedantic in picking me up over a pure typo lol! With regards the baseball bat thing to communicate....you people have been using that method for years so its not saying much is it?
@Saxonsoldiers I was being easy on you...I didn't mention 'opperation', 'of' instead of 'off', 'i' instead of 'I', 'read' instead of 'Read'...forget all the grammar and punctuation errors. Dreadful.
If you're going to lecture someone on 'speaking' a 'langugae', you'd have a bit more credibility if YOU don't come across as a refugee from a sixth grade writing class.
@ironhorzmn LOL. listen you do not feature in my list of people i need to impress. I have much much more important things in my life than worrying about using a spell checker to someone who can not even answer the questions i have asked. You answer them and i might put abit more into the punctuation that you so desire. And besides, the way you Americans play about with the English language when you drop letters from words, i thought it would be a little bit more easy for you to comprehend! LMAO
@ironhorzmn They were navy personel. Not soldiers. And what are you doing to get back the American "hikers" (as you call them, when spies would probably be more apt. Suddenly, because they were captured they're innocent hikers lol lol lol.) recently sentanced to 9 years in Iran? Absolutley nothing! Why? Because for the same reason an act of hostility towards Iran would be more than a little skirmish. CONT
It wasn't the NAVY who ordered the crew to SURRENDER. It was the BRITISH GOVERNMENT.
Their ROE prevented them from resisting.
OUR ROE do not. That's why you won't see the US surrendering to rowboats.
And at least HALF of the sailors, INCLUDING the two SENIOR OFFICERS, rolled over for their captors and provided WRITTEN and VIDEOTAPED ANTI-BRITISH propaganda without any real resistance. What a bunch of wimps.
Who gives a fuck WHAT Iran thinks? If they attack US we SINK THEM. Life goes on.
@ironhorzmn Funny, all too quick to throw the shit when it suits you about our sailors.......Strangley silent on the fact that your special forces leave helicopters behind when they depart from every mission. Also absent was the defence of your spies, sorry hikers presently detained and doing a nine years stretch in an Iranian prison lol lol lol. My work here is done.mug!
When your ADMIRALS and MINISTERS SURRENDER to the enemy without firing a shot, your OFFICERS become cowards and roll over for the enemy while your other ranks hold out, and Britain has to ask 'pretty please' to get their crew back, the world quite reasonably labels the UK impotent, irresolute and incompetent in both domestic AND foreign policy.
The UK is an international joke, pal. A sick, tragic, ludicrous, farce.
@ironhorzmn Have you heard Sir Mark Stanhope speak? He is far from a toothless roll over admiral. The UK remains a revered fighting force. I'm not sure where you are from but if it happens to be the US, as is usually the case in these youtube spats, I remind you that our special forces train yours. I remind you that we fight side by side with you and our allies. I remind you that we are never ones to back down not do we favours the colour blue when it's on blue. A little respect perhaps.
Yes, I am from the US. We don't surrender to rowboats.
While not every US sailor can resist physical abuse, we at least can be reasonably certain that our officers won't star in propaganda films for the enemy.
As far as 'respect' goes. I suggest you go up this page and read the posts by the ungrateful low-rent moron 'Saxonsoldiers' and see who's demonstrating more 'respect'.
@ironhorzmn State of the art??? They were Gemini inflatables! LMAO that you think thats state of the art. And how am i embarrasing myself, your the one shirking questions you are blatantly to embarrased to answer lol. Hikers/Spies....had nothing back on that, your not so special forces leaving behind souvenirs after every mission....nothing back on that. The fact of the matter is you pulled British troops from Helmand for being too aggressive, speaks volumes about the quality of your troops lol.
@ironhorzmn This is what I love about youtube. If you sre serving or have served or an expert of law, I apologise, but without being there or being a part of this incident you presume to judge. Go and research the UNCLOS, UK & UN ROE and RN Standing Orders, then come back to me. Until then, I suggest you keep your (ill informed) opinions private, it will preserve any sense of dignity you may yet still possess. As for HMS Cornwall, it was 10 miles away, 20.6 minutes at max speed and irrelevant.
Law had nothing to do with it. Those boats weren't even in Iranian waters.
HMS Cornwall detached boats and crew that it could not or would not support by fire or even overwatch.
When the moment of truth came, and Iranian RAFTS attacked the Cornwall's boats, the ship did NOTHING. It sacrificed its crew and equipment so utterly irrelevant morons like Saxonsoldiers could claim they obeyed the 'law'.
@ironhorzmn Law has everything to do with it. The crew were not certain and Cornwall had it's flight team following to observe and report. Cornwall in turn requested approval with action but were told to hold. On scene it was 2xRIBs vs the Iranian patrols and is neither here or there. It's small arms vs small arms and the Iranians had more plus the civilians inbetween. I repeat, go and research. As the US firing back, just that comment alone shows you have no idea what you are talking about.
Was the Iranian action 'lawful'? Remember their initial complaint gave a position NOT in Iranian waters. They had to falsify a second one.
The Cornwall's standing ROE were to 'de-escalate' (i.e. NOT open fire) even in a case of clearly hostile action by an aggressor. The Royal Navy was paralyzed. They couldn't even fire a warning shot.
HMS Cornwall requested orders from the Ministry of Defence They were told to 'hold fire'. This clearly implies the Cornwall COULD fire back but did not.
US commanders, on the other hand, have standing authority to open fire on their own initiative if they believe their ship and crew is in danger. They don't need Whitehall to hold their hand.
Plus basic military doctrine, taught to US recruits, requires that forward elements must be supported, by fire if needed, by an overwatch element. The Cornwall failed this very simple task. The boarding party was exposed and easily overpowered.
@ironhorzmn Read the comment properly.......WE redployed our SAS to aid OUR soldiers, not yours. Note the emphasis on WE! If you're refering to the Helmand comment, yes you brought in American troops, apparantly because getting results through shere aggression is beyond your mandate, but also you struggled to hold it with 15,000 troops while it took us 5000 to hold the same area. Speaks volumes about quality! lol.
@ironhorzmn Actually a US commander would not have fired since in this arena s/he would be bound by the same ROE. They would request instructions from command authority in exactly the same way. It was not Whitehall that made the decision but the RN Command Structure. The CO did exactly what he is trained and authorised to do. He ensured his crew were monitored and capable of being protected if the need arose. It is clear to me that you have little knowledge of international law or military law.
@ironhorzmn If the Iranians believed it to be territorial water then yes, quite lawful. The fact is the exact defined boundaries have been in dispute for many many years, far predating the Gulf Wars. In terms of Cornwall's ROE, in this circumstance is is a positive command decision only as there are international ramifications. The RN was not paralysed by any means. Cornwall could have fired, quite right, but it would have been in contravention of UNCLOS, RN ROE and UN ROE.
Remember Libya 'believed' they owned the entire Gulf of Sidra? I was a carrier flight deck crewman in a US task force that gave Gaddafi a crash course in geography. He doesn't say that anymore.
The Iranians were wrong and they knew it. That's why they had to falsify a second set of coordinates which, again falsely, put the British in their waters.
If HMS Cornwall had fired, Whitehall would have court-martialed the CO or at least relieved him for violating standing orders.
@ironhorzmn I'll run along when you acknowledge the question about your "not so" special forces leaving helicopters behind where ever they go lol. Also the fact about non land combat troops being captured by Iran, when you have Citizens/hikers/spies languishing in an Iranian jail........WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THAT? Nothing except keeping quiet like the pussy nation you are. You cleaned them wheels on ya house yet?
@ironhorzmn I happen to support bestshowontheweb and his/her's criticism of you and your atrocious manner of spelling and capitalization. You NEED to be criticized, mercililessly. I hereby anoint and appoint bestshowontheweb as the grammar czar of YouTube, with full dictatorial powers subject to appeal only to myself.
@JDVowellJr Oh and while i'm musing at your comments, we were mounting thousand bomber raids on Germany to induce firestorms through their cities and cause devastation and death that made the London Blitz look like a firework display........9 months before you joined the war! All you did was help US invade Normandy, and even then you'd have been fucked without the British inventions ,P.L.U.T.O,mulbury harbours, flail tanks and swimming tanks. Not to mention the loan of OUR ships & landing craft!
Also the battle of New Orleans was AFTER the peace treaty! Anybody can beat an enemy thats stood done after peace was declared. I believe its called a war crime.
@Saxonsoldiers well considering the telegraph hadnt been invented. it took weeks to delivery that message probably by horseback. it must of took weeks till either side new the war was over. so war crime sounds like a far cry all of a sudden.
After thirty seconds of interrupted service, practically every viewer would have abandoned BBC America and tuned to a news channel that was more on the ball...and when the newsreaders finally come back, they're apparently too dumbstruck (or just too dumb) to say anything.
David Cameron's Defense policy, a seat for himself, his family and other Conservative and Lib Dem big wigs and their families on a requisitioned British Airways Boeing 777 departing London Heathrow destination Bermuda, before the first Iranian ten kiloton yield range nuke detonates over London. Put the Nimrod MRA4 in to service, keep the Harrier GR9 in service and kick Cameron out of 10 Downing Street.
@dickrammer69 It did exactly that at 1:06. Notice "Video Feed BBCWNA 1 Lost". This was meant to have been broadcast by an alternate source as soon as the feed was lost.
Lol the governments shoul;d just have an interrupt all channels thing that as soon as its obvious the missiles are coming (Americans will see from space for us:)) you get a TAKE COVA!
This is unlikely at best. If the communication systems had been totally destroyed even what you provide would not be transmitted (all communication originate from earth - even standard "technical errors" messages). Also, the U.S. has major redundancies in place - so this could only happen to a foreign network that had not sufficiently planned ahead.
u could have also used the emergency alert system. its the warning system used in the united states for emergencies (like in this video a nuclear attack)

Saxonsoldiers 6 months ago
Are you proud of these men who rolled over for the enemy while US troops throughout history have endured torture and murder in resisting their captors?
ironhorzmn 6 months ago
@ironhorzmn An attack on Iran after YOUR debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan would be seen as an attack on Islam! I know that its hard for Americans to understand that there is a whole world outside of your inwardly looking, young nation. But that is the reason we did not kick off another war.The same reason you have not gone after your spies captured by Iran. We British have been fighting wars for a thousand years and have learnt diplomacy through it. Your nation shows its immaturity in such cases!
Saxonsoldiers 6 months ago
Whatever helps you sleep at night, pal.
Goodbye, mate. L my FAO.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
Oh and why don't you type this into your search engine. " British SBS soldier to recieve medal of honour" Then look up all the unit citations granted to British Units by American presidents from WWII to the present day.SAS,SBS & SRR are all used more by the US command than by our own, thats for a reason, this was proven recently when Washington started crying about us redeploying to aid our forces and not yours. So to answer your question Inferiority complex? Nah mate, supperiority! enough said!
Saxonsoldiers 6 months ago
Oh and another fact. All of our wars we've fought since WWII (With the exception of Iraq and Afghanistan, which were American led, regardless of the fact that we've been fighting terrorists for 60 years and know more about it than you......You just fund terrorism-IRA. Which is why i was not in the least bit sad when terrorism came to your shores in 2001) We've won! How many have you? lol. again, enough said.
Saxonsoldiers 6 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers You've won? Tell that to the families of those 52 killed and 700 wounded in the London bombings of 7 July 2005, moron.
You've won? How about the two other attempted London bombings in July 2005 and June 2007?
You haven't won shit. You'd be speaking German and/or Russian without US troops and equipment.
You'll probably be speaking Arabic and/or Farsi before too long, thanks to your chickenshit toothless politically correct 'leaders'.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn My god you are boring me now. read what i said "with the exception of".........idiot, you read what you want to read dickhead. Speaking German?? No i do not think so. as i have said previously, WE stopped opperation Sealion before you even got your overweight asses of the fucking fence! Oh and yeah, what langugae is you speak again? Or try to fucking speak lol
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers I apologize for saying you'll be speaking Arabic soon.
Based on your semiliterate rantings, you obviously have enough problems with the English 'langugae'.
(Kind of sad, actually...an Englishman who's got a problem with English.)
You're probably not alone. Far too many of you hooligans have abandoned the 'King's English' and rely on Louisville Sluggers to communicate.
(Louisville Slugger is a baseball bat, not a Southern middleweight boxer.)
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn You wouldn't by any chance be running out of insults would you? Its just you are being very pedantic in picking me up over a pure typo lol! With regards the baseball bat thing to communicate....you people have been using that method for years so its not saying much is it?
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers I was being easy on you...I didn't mention 'opperation', 'of' instead of 'off', 'i' instead of 'I', 'read' instead of 'Read'...forget all the grammar and punctuation errors. Dreadful.
If you're going to lecture someone on 'speaking' a 'langugae', you'd have a bit more credibility if YOU don't come across as a refugee from a sixth grade writing class.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn LOL. listen you do not feature in my list of people i need to impress. I have much much more important things in my life than worrying about using a spell checker to someone who can not even answer the questions i have asked. You answer them and i might put abit more into the punctuation that you so desire. And besides, the way you Americans play about with the English language when you drop letters from words, i thought it would be a little bit more easy for you to comprehend! LMAO
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn They were navy personel. Not soldiers. And what are you doing to get back the American "hikers" (as you call them, when spies would probably be more apt. Suddenly, because they were captured they're innocent hikers lol lol lol.) recently sentanced to 9 years in Iran? Absolutley nothing! Why? Because for the same reason an act of hostility towards Iran would be more than a little skirmish. CONT
Saxonsoldiers 6 months ago
Life goes on.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn Funny, all too quick to throw the shit when it suits you about our sailors.......Strangley silent on the fact that your special forces leave helicopters behind when they depart from every mission. Also absent was the defence of your spies, sorry hikers presently detained and doing a nine years stretch in an Iranian prison lol lol lol. My work here is done.mug!
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers Not even close.
A sick, tragic, ludicrous, farce.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn Have you heard Sir Mark Stanhope speak? He is far from a toothless roll over admiral. The UK remains a revered fighting force. I'm not sure where you are from but if it happens to be the US, as is usually the case in these youtube spats, I remind you that our special forces train yours. I remind you that we fight side by side with you and our allies. I remind you that we are never ones to back down not do we favours the colour blue when it's on blue. A little respect perhaps.
MrSatireTube 5 months ago
All I've said about the Royal Navy surrendering two heavily armed RIBs and fifteen sailors to a couple of glorified Iranian sailboats is FACT.
They allowed themselves to be taken without a shot being fired. Their mother ship did nothing to defend the boats.
Now THAT's 'backing down' in my book.
Many of the crew, EVEN the two senior officers, provided PROPAGANDA films and letters APOLOGIZING for being in Iranian waters when they WEREN'T.
Obviously Admiral Stanhope wasn't in command that day.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
Yes, I am from the US. We don't surrender to rowboats.
While not every US sailor can resist physical abuse, we at least can be reasonably certain that our officers won't star in propaganda films for the enemy.
As far as 'respect' goes. I suggest you go up this page and read the posts by the ungrateful low-rent moron 'Saxonsoldiers' and see who's demonstrating more 'respect'.
A little gratitude perhaps.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn State of the art??? They were Gemini inflatables! LMAO that you think thats state of the art. And how am i embarrasing myself, your the one shirking questions you are blatantly to embarrased to answer lol. Hikers/Spies....had nothing back on that, your not so special forces leaving behind souvenirs after every mission....nothing back on that. The fact of the matter is you pulled British troops from Helmand for being too aggressive, speaks volumes about the quality of your troops lol.
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers The fact that WE can redeploy YOUR troops at will speaks volumes about the quality of your LEADERSHIP.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn This is what I love about youtube. If you sre serving or have served or an expert of law, I apologise, but without being there or being a part of this incident you presume to judge. Go and research the UNCLOS, UK & UN ROE and RN Standing Orders, then come back to me. Until then, I suggest you keep your (ill informed) opinions private, it will preserve any sense of dignity you may yet still possess. As for HMS Cornwall, it was 10 miles away, 20.6 minutes at max speed and irrelevant.
MrSatireTube 5 months ago
Law had nothing to do with it. Those boats weren't even in Iranian waters.
HMS Cornwall detached boats and crew that it could not or would not support by fire or even overwatch.
When the moment of truth came, and Iranian RAFTS attacked the Cornwall's boats, the ship did NOTHING. It sacrificed its crew and equipment so utterly irrelevant morons like Saxonsoldiers could claim they obeyed the 'law'.
The US would have fired back and Iran KNOWS it.
That's why they go after YOU.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn Law has everything to do with it. The crew were not certain and Cornwall had it's flight team following to observe and report. Cornwall in turn requested approval with action but were told to hold. On scene it was 2xRIBs vs the Iranian patrols and is neither here or there. It's small arms vs small arms and the Iranians had more plus the civilians inbetween. I repeat, go and research. As the US firing back, just that comment alone shows you have no idea what you are talking about.
MrSatireTube 5 months ago
Was the Iranian action 'lawful'? Remember their initial complaint gave a position NOT in Iranian waters. They had to falsify a second one.
The Cornwall's standing ROE were to 'de-escalate' (i.e. NOT open fire) even in a case of clearly hostile action by an aggressor. The Royal Navy was paralyzed. They couldn't even fire a warning shot.
HMS Cornwall requested orders from the Ministry of Defence They were told to 'hold fire'. This clearly implies the Cornwall COULD fire back but did not.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
US commanders, on the other hand, have standing authority to open fire on their own initiative if they believe their ship and crew is in danger. They don't need Whitehall to hold their hand.
Plus basic military doctrine, taught to US recruits, requires that forward elements must be supported, by fire if needed, by an overwatch element. The Cornwall failed this very simple task. The boarding party was exposed and easily overpowered.
The CO should have been relieved over this farce.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn Read the comment properly.......WE redployed our SAS to aid OUR soldiers, not yours. Note the emphasis on WE! If you're refering to the Helmand comment, yes you brought in American troops, apparantly because getting results through shere aggression is beyond your mandate, but also you struggled to hold it with 15,000 troops while it took us 5000 to hold the same area. Speaks volumes about quality! lol.
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers Iran showed the world how 'aggressive' the British are.
Run along and play, now. The grownups are busy.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn Actually a US commander would not have fired since in this arena s/he would be bound by the same ROE. They would request instructions from command authority in exactly the same way. It was not Whitehall that made the decision but the RN Command Structure. The CO did exactly what he is trained and authorised to do. He ensured his crew were monitored and capable of being protected if the need arose. It is clear to me that you have little knowledge of international law or military law.
MrSatireTube 5 months ago
@MrSatireTube Not true. US forces answer to their own commanders, not spineless wimps who can't even fire warning shots.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn If the Iranians believed it to be territorial water then yes, quite lawful. The fact is the exact defined boundaries have been in dispute for many many years, far predating the Gulf Wars. In terms of Cornwall's ROE, in this circumstance is is a positive command decision only as there are international ramifications. The RN was not paralysed by any means. Cornwall could have fired, quite right, but it would have been in contravention of UNCLOS, RN ROE and UN ROE.
MrSatireTube 5 months ago
'Lawful'? Bullshit.
If HMS Cornwall had fired, Whitehall would have court-martialed the CO or at least relieved him for violating standing orders.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@Saxonsoldiers Our Special Forces leave helicopters behind?
The Royal Navy left ALL its boats and equipment 'behind' with the Iranians...including SECURE voice communication and navigational gear.
(Not to mention the international reputation of the UK and the honor and integrity of fifteen Royal Navy officers and O.R.'s.)
Please. You're simply embarrassing yourself here.
ironhorzmn 5 months ago
@ironhorzmn I'll run along when you acknowledge the question about your "not so" special forces leaving helicopters behind where ever they go lol. Also the fact about non land combat troops being captured by Iran, when you have Citizens/hikers/spies languishing in an Iranian jail........WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THAT? Nothing except keeping quiet like the pussy nation you are. You cleaned them wheels on ya house yet?
Saxonsoldiers 5 months ago
You really ARE stupid.
Two ARMED COMBAT boats with fifteen ARMED COMBAT boarding party members SURRENDER to a couple of Iranian LIFE RAFTS without firing a shot.
Their mother ship, already under orders to do...NOTHING, DOES nothing.
The only way you got YOUR troops back was by kissing Ahmadinejad's hairy ass.
AFTER he'd wrung out all the propaganda he could, he graciously gave your crew back as a fuckin' GIFT to honor the Prophet's (MHBIH) birthday.
(Find your fuckin' BOATS yet, fool?)
