  • Marilyn McCoo once confessed that she did not want the group to record this song--she thought it was "too sweet."

Also, no on ever said to Ell Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughan: You sing too "white." There's a lot of jazz in the 5th's sound. Their harmonies are tight and they swing. We should admire them for their talent and not pigeonhole them (or anyone else) into sounding "black" or "white."

  • @Branner Well said!!! I'd give you 100 stars for this post if I could. :)

  • @Heidibud This is the best song on a really excellent album. It has such a positive vibe and it brings back memories of summers past. I heard an updated more hip hop version a few years ago. It didn't even come close to the 5th's version. I would think your parents wrote many great songs!

  • My parents (Denny McReynolds and Karen O'Hara) wrote this catchy little song. Brings back a lot of good memories for me.

  • @Heidibud Your parents sure wrote a great tune here. So many warm memories for me with this song from a very special period of my life. Please give them a very special thanks and thanks to the 5th Dimension for a great performance.

  • @Heidibud That is really incredible! I have always been a fan of The 5th and discovered this song around 10 years when their albums were released on cd. It quickly became my favorite. Your parents wrote an amazing song!

  • @Heidibud It really is a GREAT song. Positive and full of GREAT energy!

love it, love it, love it!!!!!

  • Any idea who wrote this one? I know Jimmy Webb wrote most of their piece, did he do this one too?

  • @samk1101 No, Jimmy Webb didn't write this one, McReynolds & O'Hara did.

  • just made me smile =)

  • One of the many favorites of my teen years!!

  • One of the great 5D gems that was not a hit. I first saw this performed on a Sinatra special in 1967 and it showcased the great harmonies that made this group fantastic.

  • Awesome ! Really positive ! We all need that now ! Love Zootsutti

  • Good song to wake up too! Along with Day by Day that is. This is my morning "alarm" song.

  • @MsTexas73 two really good choices
