  • It is a very nice song. I love it.

  • I enjoyed reading your song info. The part about "undoing barters" reminds me of a quote, "a young man will gladly ruin his health trying to accumulate as much wealth as possible, then when he is older, he will gladly give up every penny he has to get his health back"

  • @OriginalCompositions hi OriginalCompositions, yes, your quote is appropriate to a universal situation. thanks fo much for taking the time to listen. be well, chuck.

  • hi Dave. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. i appreciate it. hope you are enjoying these cooler days, be well, chuck.

  • you always amaze with your great lyrics, great stories and always done with feeling keep them coming, cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • @TheMakemFolksinger hi dave. thanks for taking the time to lisen. i appreciate it, chuck.

  • Hi Chuck, everytime I watch you playing in this room under the roof, I have to think about your interesting profession. Great to hear a new original song of you. I like the bass line very much. And there are some fine chordchanges in it.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • @TanteA hello Anette, thanks for stopping by. BTW i really enjoyed your latest original song about your family and the beach. such a pretty, simple, touching story. be well, chuck.

  • What a wonderful song, Chuck, and so expertly performed too. I like Sting's thoughts about the shed too. To me, I interpretated that as we have to distill things down their purest form. That's kind of like life too, and maybe what's in your song. We spend a good part of our lives as adults just grabbing and getting, forgetting the innocence of our youth and all the fun we had. But as we grow older, maybe we start to get that back again. We come 'round full circle. Great job. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. i do so agree with your take on this. it's nice that you "get" it. peace and love, chuck.

  • A prayer said in a shed with humility and sincerity is as acceptable to God as one said in a great cathedral...or anywhere for that matter. Religion 101. This shed music is lovely Chuck. Nicer to listen to and containing more warmth than many a million selling pop song infesting the world in its current stage of obsession with materialism.

  • @CurtisMateer thanks Pete. i respecet and value your opinions. looking forward to your own next fine original. be well, chuck.

  • I notice that as a younger man I was forward looking... always looking to the next adventure. As a geezer, I find myself reflecting back a lot more. I look at my younger self and am not necessarily too happy with how I conducted myself. Nice performance. You really paint a pictures.

  • @dmio2 I think you're right about looking forward/backward. when i was young i did things i would never even consider today. my change of direction began i think, when my son was born. i started to feel responsible, not only for paul, but for elaine and myself. the so called party was ending, but that's OK. in the words of pete seeger, "to every thing there is a season". or as dylan said, "the times they are a changing". now, i feel blessed that i am still able to do a day's work, thanks

  • As we grow older we all tend to start thinking deeper thoughts...I do. i miss the care free days of my youth when I was free to dream rather than free to stress or worry. I enjoy your thought provoking stories Chuck. You always have the ability to stop me for a moment or two and ponder what was being said or told. Thank you for your songs and a little bit of your wisdom....

  • @Patrick GMoran hi Pat. you remind me of care ffree youth. after i got out of the air force, for one summer I only worked friday nights, saturday nights and sunday nights, as a bar bouncer (with LOTS of help from the other bouncers) up 'till midnight, then from midnight to 3 am i played guitar and sang at an after hours joint. so, every week from monday morning to friday afternoon, i spent living in a tent at Piedmont lake, OH. had a small sail boat, good food and not a care. peace, chuck

  • Great work Chuck! You got my mind bringing back some mental images of me, my girls, and my grandchildren boarding those big yellow buses. Although times have changed greatly over there years, I suspect the fears and dreads of the parents and the children on the first day of school, and their joys and apprehensions on the last day remain the same through the generations....

  • @mountnmonkey hi Ron. i agree. this is I think universal. i imagine all cultures and nations have their own versions of this special time as the very young are cared for and loved by family. God, family, west virginia. that's where it's at. thanks for stopping by, chuck.

  • Very nice work, chuck. then as I read through and you mentioned the adjustment(s) it reminded me, we took our oldest grandchild to the bus stop last friday for her first day of head start. She did great, but she kind of a scared face as me and my fiance exited the bus. It made 'me' as scared as she looked. As we walked the little sister back to the jeep, I almost couldnt hold in the tears. I was able to hold it in undetected til we got home, tho. ;-) keep up the good work!

  • @rhonjon08 hi John. you are right of course. there is absolutely no bond as strong as that of parent to child or grand child. but until you experiece that , you can't imagine just how powerful it is. before son Paul was born, people would ask, "aren't you excited". No, i was not at all excited. it was just some other event on the horizon, no big deal. BOY WAS I WRONG! when i first looked at paul in the hospital, the world stopped and it was like a punch to the heart. thanks for sharing.

  • Circles, cycles... a thoughtful, mellow reminder of the circular-cyclical nature of life. A good one, Chuck!

  • @cadwalladee hi Scott, i agree, that's the kind of a song it tries to be. thanks for taking the time to listen. i appreciate it, chuck.

  • A timely song for me Chuck ..one child is in school and one child is napping. A beautiful melody to remind us that the ordinary life is not ordinary at all..it is a gift to discover, explore and enjoy. Wonderful song Chuck!

  • @nessyvt hi Vanessa. i'm sure you know this already, but it is amazing how fast they grow up. enjoy them while you can. when they go off to college and such, there is a big adjustment in store. thanks for the nice visit Vanessa, i am always pleased to hear from you. be well, chuck.
