I own 4 differeent versions of American Strats, including a custom shop '60. My Fender Road Worn '60s Strat is a better playing guita among all of them and has become my go to guitar.
I still don't get the idea of " vintage" guitars. Ok, maybe those which aren't being manufactured anymore these days, but not normal strats getting extra dirt and being stored in damp rooms, what's the sense?? Get youself a normal strata
Thanks! Some parts of the guitar are road worn down to bare wood, for example around the area where the right forearm rests and the back of the neck. There are also small areas where bare wood is showing around the body. It is really a great playing guitar.
While they aren't the best pickups available, I think they do SRV (and other, more classic strat tones) a hell of a lot better than TS when a TS808 is added to the mix. Tex-Mexs are in no way horrible pickups. They're good enough until you get enough cash to upgrade. But to each his own.
By comparison. I have 2 G&L ASATs with 7.25" and 2 legacys with 12" and my RW is closer to the 12". It also has a fairly hefty c shape neck back. Of the 20+ RW's I have played this one has the biggest and flattest neck, perfect for me. Just a lucky find I guess but there's got to be others out there-anyone have one?
Consider yourself lucky. You may perhaps found a rare road worn. All the 60s road worn I have played have the modern C shape, perhaps your neck was mistakenly shaped to the U shape found on the road worn teles? Check out the road worn teles and compare the neck.
I have a white 60"s RW with a relatively flat neck, approx. 9.5 in. radius. I bought it because it was the only flat necked RW that I could find. Awesome guitar! Anyone else have a bigger than 7.25 radius?
Thanks!!! The guitar is completely factory setup, and off the rack, only about three hours old from time of purchase. The strings are factory installed. I believe Fender uses 10-46 on the road worns. It plays great, and it does feel and play like an old worn guitar.
Way too much 'bite' on this guitar imo. (maybe it's the amp)

Does anyone notice that Strats sound horrible on Vox's VT series? Specialy at AC30 simulate?

@Vladymir1916 Yeah I have the VT-50 and pretty much every setting sounds like shit, and on the vox they just add loads of treble...

No. It's made in Mexico. probably not worth the price.

Its made in Mexico and certainly worth the $499 shipped new with gig bag. Musicianfriend had the roadworn on special a few months ago.

Like the guy said... made in Mexico by Mexicans or made in California by Mexicans...
what's the difference? I have one made in Mexico and I can't tell the difference!

You should put texas specials in there. Those tex-mex pickups aren't near as good.

I'd take the Tex-Mex's over Texas Specials anyday. TS are way too hot, IMO.

Tex mex's are way too punchy for my taste.

Wow..that is pretty rare that you were able to get a 60s RW with a 9.5 radius. How did you determine that it is in fact a 9.5 radius?
gmlasam 2 years ago
All the roadworn Strats in Olympic White are 7.5" radius - none are made with the 9.5" radius.
