Text books there (especially in SC) even give more focus on their stupid racist confederate war than the civil rights movement. All textbooks proclaim the heroics of the US of A and their god given religion, that's pretty much it, history is essentially written as "We, the people of the USA, are the guardians of the world."

No one has learned anything back there.

Japan would have starved and forced to surrender. IN case you haven't noticed, the american people haven't used nuclear weapons since, and what is going on in Iraq is response to terrorism and Iraq's failure to disarm itself of its own nuclear weapons. We'll never know how many more lives would have been lost on both sides if the war continued. The hatred and dehumanizing that occurred on both sides was awful, which probably made the decision to use the bomb easier. The Japanese propaganda said Americans were sub-human dogs, and the American propaganda said that Japanese were uncivilized rats. It was a terrible thing to happen, as is all war, and it is great to see how someone can use something so bad happening to them turn it into a positive.
