The ThinkPad X300 has an optical drive. You can even change it to an extra harddrive, battery or other stuff.
You might refer to the X200, the 12" subnotebook from Lenovo.

IBM (Lenovo) will always top Apple in the engineering department. I don't like OSX, but everyone has their opinion.
