RALPH STANLEY WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MY FATHER...HE SINGS FOR EVERYONE!!! HE IS A RESPECTABLE MAN! I AM PROUD TO KNOW HIM!.......LOVE YOU RALPH, KEEP IT UP! YOUR SURE TO ENTER HEAVEN BEING WHO YOU ARE!
how can a man who puts GOD before everything as he seems to claim, how can someone like stanley then sing for ...the queen of england, the worlds biggest land owner, a totally obscene criminally insane madwoman !?? it seems that the sex pistols were more religious and god fearing when they sang: god save the queen she is not what she seems, she aint no human being, but apparently america still very much is the home of bigotry
gareof, are you nuts. if all you pro-ljfe people would support a cradle to grave coverage for all these babies you are so concerned about maybe your smug piety might make better sense. Ralph Stanlet is a great man
Interesting song - ME (first) and GOD - - Poor ol' ralph will soon step up to judgment & meet with God - - it doesn't matter what you say or sing people, - we know that actions speak louder than words - and ralph stanley supported & endorsed obama, who is the #1 baby killer in the USA (Romans 1:32)
My dear... Ralph Stanley??? He's an American monument, he is one of the best in US. Americans should feel as a privilege be born in the same country. He's an angel.
ralph stanley is and always will be a bluegrass legend in my book.i commend him for his singing and for just being a great man to look up to.we could all take a lesson. always put GOD first in what ever you do.
Good points, "Unforgiven". I learned how to sing listening to Ralph. He's the best.
Everyone says I have a great voice but sometimes I think they are just being nice. Check out my version of the Stanley classic, "All MY Day" at my youtube page.

Lost respect for him as I went to see him and he only sang one song himself and the rest was his sons and they are very mediocre, so it was very misleading, I could see that for him most of his being there was about money, so it was sad to see him selling out like that.
Ralph did the majority of his singing through the years. He only did less as he got up in age. That should be expected some by anyone. Notice in this video he was reading lyrics. The mind starts to get a little fuzzy when one is up there in years. He left behind a legacy and he IS Dr. Ralph, a title so deserving.
well he only has ONE son with him on the road....also he never was billed as a lead singer until after Carter died really. He was the high part in the duets or trios that the stanley brothers did. His voice grew into an "old sounding" one very quickly through the years and O Brother thrust him even further into the position of a lead singer. Therefore, him singing to OTHERS is him doing what he is known for. Like Curly Seckler does show nowadays and sings mostly just tenor, it's what he does
This little Mexican kid that grew up listening to him all the way out in California... He captured my ears with his singing and tunes.. It never left me... all the way back from the early 1970's and never left... Thank you sir for posting this song and video..
God bless Ralph Stanley. Not only has he been one of the most instrumental voices in shaping and defining bluegrass and gospel music, he has helped ensure the survival of both into the twenty-first century.
