  • scary pineapple... :'(

  • All the top comments are the authors ... bet its her friends just liking them

  • @geowar42 Yeah, and I'm sure that's why it has over 100,000 views too. BYE!

  • at 3.25 are holothuria,in my city in italy named "sea's dick"

  • amazing footage,thanks

  • in 1:47 ... 1500 kilo? or what?? how much in dollar? thanks

  • This is a awesome adventure thanks for sharing this.

  • I really liked your video. Been searching for a video that captured the market so that I didn't just see people eating at the market but actually looking at the amazing fresh fish.

Keep going with the videos! I just suscribed :)

  • @zombieman82091 LoL certainly not. I do find it quite difficult to get my hands on eggs that are obtained by my standards so I generally don't eat eggs. Beef in Alberta (where I live) all has to be killed quickly and humanely as does all livestock so I eat meat from wherever not roadkill, healthy farm reared beef. Cheese and dairy products I have to buy at a holistic and natural foods market to ensure that they were made cruelty free. And that's pretty much it. No I'm not a manson.

  • @zombieman82091 I'm proud of everything I eat. I don't eat species that are threatened, I don't purchase meat from companies that slaughter livestock inhumanely, I don't eat processed meats, I don't eat eggs from farms that keep their chickens in small cages, or milk/cheese from dairy farms that confine their cattle to stalls. So anybody who has a "hard dick" over anything that I eat is overreacting. Animals don't suffer to feed me, and no species is threatened becoming my meal.

  • @powersqbpdl I think she's saying she later learned that it was false that it was Mink Whale. Because mink whale aren't endangered.

  • cool video

  • Hey! @Emirichan317 ! Play through your video till you get to @8:05 . How cool is it to see yourself eating dolphin? Seriously. 80% of the time that's what it is, because a lot of the time they're easier to catch and a ton cheaper. You also just ate mercury which makes me a little less pissed at you, because at least something shitty happened to you as a consequence.

  • @fantabulousK 1: I was told at the time that it was Mink whale, which they also said was not endangered, but I later learned that was false. 2: It was a Japanese custom I wanted to try and according to the info I had then, it was fine to eat 1 piece. Now I have learned two more important things. 1: The Japanese are not abiding by the laws regarding whales, and 2: idiots like the ones on Whale Wars are getting PEOPLE killed by illegally stopping a Japanese livelyhood. They are BOTH wrong.

  • @Emirichan317 hey, just wanna say great job on the footage. Looks like you both had a fantastic time. Its my dream to get there someday as well. Thats my first stop. Take care!

  • @asspunchquarterpound Thank you very much! I hope to do more of these videos when I get back there and edit them in higher quality when I get a decent laptop. I hope you make it there too!

  • @fantabulousK And as you know, two wrongs don't make a right. You don't get to go into a Mid-East country and stop ppl from stoning a woman to death for showing her wrists by accident, but it's ok not to go through proper channels and negotiate for a stop to whaling instead of blundering into someone else's livelyhd and endangering people as well? We keep jobs going here in the States because people need them to live, even if it's deforestation or oil trucking when we have other means of energy.

  • @fantabulousK The point is, people often keep destructive jobs so they can live. I don't agree with this either. And to conclude, wishing something "shitty" on someone else doesn't make you a better person, dear. I am all for whale conservation, but I'm all for people conservation too. I will try to be less "pissed" at you for being indecent and remember that you meant well, but I'll also pray that you find a more humane way of treating your fellow homo sapiens as well as whales. Good luck

  • enjoyed your video.very intresting

  • liked this video untill you got to the whale... such a shame.

  • "The Radish Spirit!" I loved the Spirited Away reference! LOL

  • i wana tsukiji fish market

  • But what kind of squid is that ?

It seems so cute ! i don't ever seen one before..

may i know what's its name?

  • @AnnHomusic If it's those tiny ones the size of her finger I think their firefly squid because they glow like fireflies in their natural environment.

  • WHAT IS THAT AT 2.55 ?!!!?!?!

  • @AnnHomusic It's the beaks of the squid. Pretty cool, huh? I guess they want to use all of it if they can.

  • THanks for sharing this video. Seafood eaters heaven

  • i wanna go to that market :O

this looks so fun! i have a few friends who were there :)

  • @Gienzelientje8875 Howzabout you try to be polite and argue your point instead of automatically being horrible so that no one has no desire to listen to you at all? Keep your comments polite and I might actually listen to what you have to say. Having respect for animals is no reason to have no respect for humans. Goodbye.

  • @Gienzelientje8875 LMAO!! How can you kill something that's dead?! Of course you have to kill them when they're alive!

  • nice video.

  • cruelty to animals you say... if you eat beef, pork, or chicken, or anything animals that walks, how do you think they get slaughtered? At least the shelled fish you can put them in the freezer and let them sleep calmly before cooking them. makes me glad I dont eat meat.

  • Some of that stuff is insanely overpriced.

  • very exotic!!

  • Music at back ground from great Nusrat Fateh Ali from Pakistan.

  • Boy am I hungry now, thanx for sharing good vid.

  • I love how I'm either evil for supporting Japanese culture and not liking being in the States, or I'm too American and need to learn more about Japanese culture. MAN people are bitchy! Something in the water lately? Goodness. Spread a little love, for God's sake!

  • @Emirichan317 very well said......theres always gonna be childish little small minded ppl who are just jelous of you having a great time and good attitude........i really enjoyed the vid..........thnx peace

  • Are you guys Russians? You have a Russian accent.

  • @MrJackassjerry I sound Russian? Huh. Cool... I'll go with that! My Japanese always seems to end up shaping my accent in a weird way. Thanks!

  • @MrJackassjerry That's not a Russian accent! Not even a little!

  • @MrJackassjerry Russian with that english ? GZZZZZZ brain

  • they all looks good to eat to me +)

  • @tomnatwil Wow. You don't know me at all, do you? Waste of comment space again. sigh. Dude, I'm moving to Japan for good, I do not like it here in the US, and I never eat that rat poison they call fast food. Go comment somewhere else. I was setting up the scene for those watching and who can't actually smell it. Go bother someone else. Thanks.

  • You know what, whale isnt technically sushi/sashimi. It's mammal, it's not fish. No surprise it tastes like steak, it's related to steak.

  • Reminds me of the simpsons episode where burns has that huge net and just grabs every single creature from the sea...

  • those "clams" are called Goey Ducks

  • what kind of fish is it on 0:6 ?

  • Very cool video. Only thing that bothers me is the blatant disregard for the species being so over fished. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "OMG WE NEED TO STOP EATING ALL SEAFOOD!111!" people, but I do believe there should be some sort of stringent regulation system put in place.

Regardless, awesome vid. Wouldn't mind going there someday myself.

  • @DurandalThoth

you have no obligation to put silly comment.

    no one overfished.

  • kamenote is not literally turtle's feet but Pollicipes mitella.

  • @shachikujira Thank you for the scientific name! I always think it's cool to learn the root names.

  • really nice

  • wow whale sushi that must really be exciting. Is it better than tuna?

  • What is the fish @ 4:16?

  • @94jg I believe it is a codfish, or hirame

  • @Emirichan317 Sole maybe, not Cod

  • omg give me some of that tuna! i eat tuna twice a week (not more cuz of mercury) but ma i'd go overboard and eat a whole one if i had it

  • @dyingromeo ok i remember the point i was trying to make (before i was interrupted by my own penis related announcement) and that is that i no longer remove fish from the sushi at sushi train restaurants, because the last time i did, the chef and i met gazes, and he was... err... looked like he was going to make ME into sushi, so i stopped out of fear

  • Whaling is NOT good. You should see how they hunt the whale.

  • @Axxisss sry but a sushi master rly, lol

why would he care...hes the one getting paid

  • LOL going to a fish market and complain that it smells fishy...haha

  • @wenjilu I know, I know-- trying to set up the scene, we could tell we were getting closer by the smell but couldn't see anything yet. The smell worked as a clue and got us all excited, but I guess if you weren't actually there it's not as cool or exciting. I mean everyone knows from the title where we were headed, but we hadn't made it there yet etc. etc. Anyway-- I was trying to get ppl pumped for the scene.

  • They are showing some species of whale in the Pacific are displacing and making other species endangered. Minke whale (the one that she ate) is said to be the culprit keeping many other species of larger whales from recovering due to their overpopulation and consumption of the food supply...

SAVE THE WHALES BY EATING MORE WHALE!!!

  • Wow! I loved this video ^_^ <3! You and your friends are sooooo lucky!!! And very funny might I add lol :P! Thanks for the great vid :D!

  • Please check my and zigmaleho's comments. I can't help it if it broke before I could get it in my mouth! I did not-- repeat, NOT-- break it on purpose! Once I felt the rice break under the fish, I talked to it. I do that.

And you know, everyone who tells me how impolite it is to do everything seems to not know you're supposed to eat nigiri with your hands in the first place. People do it a few ways if they aren't at a 5 star sushi place. I try to be as polite as possible, but things happen.

  • @Emirichan317 I eat them by dipping them into soy sauce O: it brings great taste especially with wasabhi.

  • What on Earth were those things at 1.30?

  • Those were actually just regular shrimp or prawns. They look cool though, don't they?

  • @Emirichan317 Almost EDIBLE one could say! ;-)

  • theyre called pissing shrimp or mantis shrimp

  • AMAZING video..thanks for posting!

  • for my job i was stationed in japan for about 6 years so i went to the market bought a octopus as a pet beats 1300 normaliy

  • MASSIVE shrimp. o_o The size of lobsters? I'd be scared in a fish market.

  • "Tsukiji Market" is the place that appears as "Fish Market" in the Photo Mode of the game for the PS2, Gran Turismo 4, right?

  • what is that 2:56??

  • Those are squid beaks. Squid don't have mouths, they tear up fish they catch with kinda parrot-looking beaks, so I guess they sell them here for... flavor? I dunno... Maybe like adding beef bones to soup, they can add flavor to stuff. Anyone else know?

  • i eat meats but... but i kill them and i eat them and not whit such mass..... so many living fish and it should be dead

  • I'm a little lazy to look around. But how was the sushi? I landed there during silver week and the fish market was closed the entire time. Had to fly out shortly after.

Would love to know if it's any better to eat the morning's catch.

    Thanks.

  • It was pretty awesome. Very fresh, very flavorful, although I didn't get to try everything. I would totally do it again, but then I love pretty much everything about Japan. ^^ Hope you get to visit again!

  • good on you for eating the whale meat... after all we do to try and stop them from poaching whales... Don't know about you, but I kinda wanna show my grandkids what whales are. and not on a video or photo...

  • I am a chef and I agree you can't get much fresher than still alive, but breaded crab that's moving? come on be serious!

  • Those weren't really turtle feet @ 6:06 haha XD they are nicknamed for their look, but they are actually "goose barnacles"

It was hilarious hearing your shocked reaction hahahaha!

  • Hello there interesting video, I enjoyed it. Although please don't be stereotypical "British idiots" is in the description. I'm not an idiot *wipes tear.*

  • I am sad that you westerners have eaten whale meat!

That carries Japanese brutal whalers away.

Whales are not to be killed & eaten!

  • Mmmmm....whale meat, yum. =)

  • I love sushi and fish. You are very lucky to have been there. WOW, you ate whale.... why? Tasted like fishy beef huh?. DANG that is so weird! I read an article about Blue whales in Nat Geo I think they and some other species are going extinct. I really hope that our oceans can support our love for eating fish. Safe travels to you thanks for the video.

  • ya'll are funny. thinks for uploading

  • Those were shrimp? Wow...

I don't really like fish too much, but for some odd reason, I liked the smell of that place.

    :\

  • sorry for the question but which music have you played in the background?! if you dont mind me asking?

  • probs smelled really bad

  • Rofl. I love wapanese people. trying to be japanese.

  • Wonderful video. I hope to visit Japan and visit the fish market as well. I think I will pass on eating whale however. No judgement, I just wouldn't feel right about it. Best of wishes to you.

  • If you complain about fish smell at a fish market you are a an ignorant bimbo!

  • Yep, I'm such an ignorant bimbo that I speak two languages fluently, play two instruments, paint and draw decently, make costumes, know classical music AND have gotten several scholarships to Japan, not to mention am one year away from my degree.

Sorry my ignorance caused you pain; Glad my trying to set the scene for all the viewers at home was a waste. Have a nice day!

  • haha i love it.

    chaa ching

  • wow, burn.

  • the market really good.nice vid

  • Tsukiji is wholesale market.

    W h o l e s a l e .

  • So Sorry. I had gotten excited.

    However,

Here is a place of the battle of traders.

    Like NYSE.

  • LOL @ fast chewing.

  • "The Radish Spirit!" Haha I love that! Awesome video. ^_^

  • what a nose you have.. are you jewish? lawl

  • when you eat sushi you don't put soy sauce on the rice, only on the fish and it's not on every fish. To put soy sauce on sushi rice (niguiri sushi) it to desrespectful. It's obvious that you don't know so much about japanese cuisine, but I'm jealous that you've been to a japanese fish market, great experience, and if I were your friend I'd definitly buy a knife too! bye bye nice video

  • Hi there,

Uhhh first of all I know, but I was trying to dip the whale itself; the meat was hanging off. The rice got soy sauce on it when it broke in half. Second, technically you don't use your chopsticks when eating nigiri-- you use your hands. I just didn't want sticky hands then.

Please do research before saying someone has no idea what they're doing/are being rude. I've spent over half a year in Japan added up and 7 years studying. I learned what's rude from having asked Japanese people.

  • congratulations, you probably are a indredible person! well i don`t say chopsticks you know...I say Hashi...that`s the correct manner also, don`t say "mine", and use hands to eat niguiri zushi is the correct way yes, because it`s suppose to feel the texture also. But nice excuse saying that the meat was falling off, I`ll buy it!

I;m not from america, in my country we say all the japanese names when are eating japanese food

  • ahahahaha putting soy sauce on the rice is "too disrespectful"? check this out... when i go to sushi train restaurants with my family, i take the whole fish off the rice and eat only the rice after dunking it in soy sauce, i then proceed to place the fish portion onto the plate of the family member sitting next to me, i do this almost everytime my family takes me to a sushi place (i'm japanese AND vegetarian, u thought there was no such thing, well, we are out there...)

  • when ppl learn that i dont eat seafood, they always seem shocked, but (prepare urselves for some fully loaded vegetarian righteousness!!!) but i'm the one who is shocked, that they DO eat it, fish aren't food., fish are friends!!! FISH ARE FRIENDS!!!!!

(disclaimer: shark arent friends, u have my permission to eat shark)

  • Nah, sharks are friends.

Apex predators keep the whole system in check.

  • I always respect my friends requests.

Fish don't talk. Except perhaps for Charlie the tuna. Glad to hear you're Vegan. Have a good life, and be as respectful of us omnivores as we are respectful to you.

  • @Timerider : Indeed. We don't go telling Vegans not to eat veggies, so don't tell us not to eat meat (including fish and poultry). Most vegans live in democratic societies, and forcing your ideas upon others doesn't work. Let others decide for themselves whether to eat meat or not. Present your fact, then move on, instead of harassing people just because they choose to eat meat. No government in this world would stop people from eating meat, so get used to it (just as how we're used to vegans).

  • @dyingromeo oi! just so you know being vegetarian isn't better than eating meat. Technically plants are living things to, so if you eat broccoli or lettuce ur a murderer to let you know. The only things a super-ultra-vegetarian would eat would be fruits b/c they are supposed to be eaten by the plant. No matter how you look at it, it's necessary and natural to consume other things to feed the human body. Vegetarians are blind b/c they cannot see that whether they eat meat or not, no diff.

  • @jarostone by your logic, there'd be nothing wrong with eating humans too

  • I hope you are a good mannered visitor.

    See this also.

    jp. youtube. com /watch?v=tzBwtylHiqo

    Terrible foreign visitors.

This was broadcasted all over Japan, and it is serious problem.

Because of these ill-mannered visitors, Tuna Auction at Tsukiji became off-limits for all visitors.

  • I was totally horrified that people were doing this; as far as I am concerned I want no association with them. My goal is to be as polite and observant as possible of Japanese/other cultures.

We were fortunately very well behaved on our trip and had a wonderful time. Sadly, we will never get to see the Auction due to these idiots.

I wish all foreign people had to go through orientation before being allowed to go to Japan. No one gets that you still have responsibilities while vacationing.

  • Yes, I'm sure you're a good mannered pretty woman.

Recent days, many foreign visitors come to see Tsukiji, but they are all disapointed they cannot see them.

Oh! that's so pity. I want someone who can write English pretty well to spread this news to the world.

Not only Tsukiji, but all the tourist spots in the world must be careful of this, not to happen again.

  • TV says Auction is temporarily off-limits for all tourists for one month (busiest time in a year), but it is still under consideration what they should do after one month.

So, it will be opened for tourists soon, perhaps, but you must confirm if you want to come and see again.

  • That is wonderful! I was hoping to get to see the market again, and maybe the auctions if possible. I am posting a video soon of my opinions on the recent badly mannered foreigners.

Please look forward to it! Thanks

  • i love japan i hope to visit someday

  • do you know snow and king crab can be eaten raw? prefably the legs can be eaten raw.

  • that fish market was crazy what was that big black thing in the white stirafoam tank it looked dangerous to kill ?!!!!

  • Nice video but you really should not eat whale or support the Japanese Whaling industry.

  • The "smell" comment was like a "we're getting close" comment. Glad yu liked! XD

  • seriously, dont your clothing smells like chicken when you leave the marketplace? rare fishy-filot steak, interesting..

  • Uhhhh... nnnnno, my clothes didn't smell, but then they would have smelt like fish and not chicken, wouldn't they? XD

  • at 5:31-5:37, the shellfish is called "Uchiwaebi", also known as Slipper Lobster, Balmain Bug, and Moreton Bay Bug. I had the name of that shellfish in my video, telling all YouTube viewers if it is eaten raw as sushi and sashimi. Please tell me if it's eaten raw or not.

  • the music..its pakistani?!

  • Wow...lady you are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful!!!!

I wish you were MY WIFE ...LOL...Ha ha ha ha

  • Ha ha ha. Umm... My husband is a ninja. Really. He's scary. I thought he was the psycho killer on campus when we first met.

I appreciate the comment but uh... be careful. Have a nice day!

  • COOL VIDEO GUYS

  • and also your very very beautiful

  • Why, thank you! My husband tells me that everyday :P

  • yeah im the 15,000th viewer

  • just for the record- there is hardly any fish smell @ tsukuji. I was there too and it's the cleanest and most organized fish market in the world. ans yes, if you guys went there way too late. The real stuff starts at 3am and ends at 5am

  • seems a little late to visit a fish market... all the good stuff must have been bought alr!

  • nice video

mais i feel sorry pour les poisons

  • moi aussi...

  • "カメノテ" are not actually turtle legs, though the name is misleading. They are actually gooseneck barnacles or percebes. Pretty grotesque-looking but delicious. Great video!

  • yeah, the spaniards and the portuguese eat the percebes raw.

  • top vid nice and clear one of the best all the best neil

  • Thanks for posting this video, very nice!.i know Japan is a very nice place and rich in culture but i dont know anything about their wet market but atleast i know now. very interesting indeed!

  • nicely made video, thanks for posting

  • also, i have heard that one of the reasons the warehouse doesn't smell too bad is that it is kept so clean. does anyone know if this is true?

  • did ashley get to bring the knife home with her? i suppose one could put it in a bag that one was NOT carrying on, but that's the only way i could see bringing a knife on a plane....

  • Yep, Ashleigh still uses it. Put the thing in her under-plane luggage. That always is fine-- you can put all sortsa weapons under the plane-- just not in the cabin.

  • first of all: it's easier to eat nigiri sushi with your fingers, than with chopsticks, and last of all: do not dip the sushi rice side down, it crumbles the rice, always dip the sushi fish side down.

  • You know, I actually KNEW that, and I STILL managed to kill the nigiri! XD

  • what does raw whale meat taste like?

  • tell me. what kind of seafood that is suitable for sushi/sashimi, in this seafood market in japan? i just wanna know :-)

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing! I love Japan, and I only spent one day in Tokyo so I had to miss the fish market. :-( I really wanted to go! Next time I will make it.

  • FISH

  • Hi guys, love your video! I thought I would help you guys out on the names of some of the sea life you saw at the market. At 04:50 min mark the clams you saw are Geoduck clams, (pronounced gooey duck), and at the 06:15 min mark, the sign you read may have said "turtle hands" in Kanji, but really they're not. They're called Gooseneck Barnacles in English. If you goto "marinebio dot net" you can read up on them. Hope that helps.

  • ps... I would have loved to try the whale, and have always wondered what whale tastes like. Thanks on the "food review". Fish steak huh??

Mmmmm I wonder what it would taste like on the bbq with Teryaki sauce???

  • This is so unfair!!! Im hungry =))) I was in Tokyo for 5 days last year july but did not go there. I regret it... Nice video guys cheers

  • is anybody else getting hungry when they watch this video?

  • Did you guys ever think about how you were intruding on peoples' working lives/business when you shot that vid? I've been to Tsukiji about 5 times and always asked for permission to take photos.

  • Well first, I alone was shooting the vid with a camera the size of a coffee mug. I didn't go behind counters or into places not open to the public. I just shot things that were already in the open market.

I understand your concern, but believe me, if there's anyone who tries to respect the Japanese lifestyle, it's me. I just spent another three months there last summer; I love Japan.

  • OK fair enough, my mistake. I've seen tons of gaijin stomping into the auction area with flash photography and so on. Tsukiji is such a great place, nothing else like in the world. I'm back over there at easter to see my g/f - if you get a chance in the future visit yanaka in tokyo, its a graveyard town, very peaceful and strange.

    Again, my apols,

    jamesp110

  • Oh no no, I totally get where you're coming from. I hate it when gaijin screw things up and don't even bother to try or research anything. Bugs the crud outta me. But yes, thank you; I would HATE it if someone did that too.

Yanaka? Will do. I'm always looking for new places to check out there. I'm thinking of going back and documenting more; Nagasaki has totally captured my heart...

Thanks for the concern; you actually made me happy someone else cares too! <3

  • Too bad its going to move in the next couple of years, at least you've got a good vid for your memory. My g/f is taking me to some Ninja town in Mie at easter - have you been there? I imagine it will be quite tourist-orientated. I prefer Osaka over Tokyo, much more down to earth, apart from Umeda which seemed more busy than Shinjuku to me.

  • this is neat! thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Cool Video!!

I Plan On Going To Japan And This Fish Market Seems Very Interesting

    Where Exactly Is This?

  • This is in Tokyo, Ginza district I think? Just ask for directions at your hotel for Tsukiji Fish Market, or buy a guidebook here in the country.

Good luck! Have a great time! I know I did. ^^

  • This is truly pleasant image!!

  • great vid..luv da music track [nusrat fateh ali khan] he sang tht song!

  • "free willy flew over the boy into your mouth..." lolz! Good stuff...

  • oh! very good news!
