Um, excuse me, hi. I write code for a living. I'll be the first person to tell you that the entire point of a calculator, or any other computer, is to delegate menial tasks like MATH to the MACHINE so that you can spend your time worrying about more important things. Calculators solve all my problems, especially the problem of where my paycheck comes from. Thanks.
Observe, kids: all you need to make your own time machine is to cement half a kerosine heater and the seat from a luxury high chair to your winter sled.
Oh, man, did I ever feel for Joe when I saw this the first time. I have dyscalculia, which means I suck at math. Worse, I was taught how to use a calculator, and then I wasn't allowed to use it!
It's true that a calculator doesn't always solve your problems, but it really can help, once you get used to it.
I'd buy these on DVD. oh my god I know most of these people from subsequent work. ROFL And also, this was one of my favorite things to watch coming home from school.
@gidgetlover1 The original air dates of the Wishbone series was from October 9, 1995 – August 31, 2001. This one in particular I do not know the original air date.
There are still really good reading positive kids shows out there, including Martha Speaks, Word Girl, Between the Lions, etc... Sesame Street, although not the Henson fantasia of my youth, remains a sound educational format for reading, early math and basic critical thinking.I also kind of like a new show named 'Mad About', but it may be for somewhat older kids.
@antebellum Totally, they are not going to do a show like this today, they can't have anything that'll make the kids actually think or want to turn their attention to books. It seems instead that TV, including children's programming, has taken such a turn that it serves a purpose now to shut people up and turn off the minds and keep them glued to the couch. Of course there have always been people like that but these days it seems to be much worse.
@AndForAMoment I guess it must be different grading criteria in America then. C's are pretty average here (you know, with B being good, A great, F fail, and U being why-did-you-even-bother??)
This gives me a child-like feeling of awe. It's a clever adaption. A white boy who wants to try out for basket ball... now, that's a fantasy. A better premise would have been a cool trip or 'summer school'? Pity they never had a 'Dogs of War'? Wishbone as Christopher Walken.
It feels so good thinking back to my youth and how much I've grown truly living in a great life in a good time hope this made u guys as happy as it's made me
@Garrettk41 well star trek is on the verge of becoming reality, i'd say in a couple hundred years starships will be flying the galaxy, time travel too.
I watched wishbone when I was so young, I really thought Joe was a cool dude, and its shocking to see him so young...I just remember him being so much older than me...hahaha.
Yay! Thank you for posting this! I recorded this off of the TV when I was a kid and watched this episode almost every day after school. I even attempted to read the book but I was way to young to understand it at the time!
Joe could use one of those advanced scientic calculators that can do fractions like the one I have. The one David gave Joe is just a regular caculator. Of course, you stil need to understand how to do math when no calculator is available

Right, it's a tool. The reason we live now in houses rather than caves and can eat bears rather than the other way around is because of TOOLS.
