  • Ha ha ha, he's wrong when he says that if you boil the kettle and then let the water cool it's de-ionised, lol. De-ionised water is free from any metals in the water, and is the same thing you use for a car battery. A better option would be to use a Brita water filter to filter the wat if you have one.

  • Help how do I do it if the smoke fluid is in an inbuilt tank???!!!

  • hey man i have just bought a 20 dollar smoke macine from a pawn broker it said on it pipes need cleaning but i have just run a whole tank full of water and vinegar and it still has that sound like it has nothing to pump through any suggestions

  • Thank you. It did work.

  • i have right now 3 machine that i use for every Halloween and i have never cleaned them am i doing anything wrong to the machine and i have a machine that i bought and i dosn't put out fog why

  • Wtf is a "CATEL" ?

  • what is the name of ur fog machine?

  • what kind of stuff is in the cup?

  • everybody type "gift" before typing in youtube.com

  • THIS SCREWED UP 2 OF MY 400W FOG MACHINES. DONT LET IT RUN DRY. THIS IS BULL S***.

  • I was told by a major dealer and manufacturer use proper de-iniosed water from a purchased bottle as it is pure. Tap water into a kettle contains minerals such as lime which causes kettles to get furrwed up and pipes, pipes just like in your smoke machine. So use clean battery grade bottled water - only costs £1 to £2. This will keep machine properly clear.

  • Thanks. That works.

  • I did it then when I tried to suck up the fog juice it wouldn't suck it would try but it seems like the pump can't pump it through the pipe help please party very soon

  • This screwed up my fog machine

  • Hi Jonathan, i'm a newbie to smoke machines, i know how it works but I have question. After the gig is over & you used your smoke machine, it's better to empty the machine's pipe & pump, or leave it like that until you're next gig?

  • i got air in my pipe, how do i get it out? i tried using me fingers to force it though the pipe but the air just stays in the top part of the pipe, if i force the liqurd though it smokes but using the pump, you can hear the pump trying to pump it, but nothing comes out.... gurrrr.... help as i got a party coming up

  • just watched your video. great tip. i have a Little 400w fog machine the im gussing clogged somewhere. i went ahead and pulled the heater out and cleaned it. i decided to use Throttle body cleaner and an air gun. worked great. yes i know TB cleaner is highly flamable. but that's before it evaporates. i also noticed the tube going from my fluid tank to the pump had a small mesh filter on it. i cleande it the same way ind re installed it. machine works as good as it did the day i got it.

  • macmitchdog, why do they call them smoke machines then?

  • @Chazyorkshire They call them smoke machines because the effect they give is similar to smoke. it is actually a vapor/aerosol.

  • Thanks man

  • press play! LOL

  • I think you're gonna burn out your heater doing that...

  • so hyped lol

  • how do you get the smoke/fog liquid out of the container

  • Its not smoke is FOG.

  • @macmitchdog smoke,fog almost the same thing

  • any idea on what the range is on the remote for that smoke machine? looking at getting the kam ksm 1100 but im gonna be a good distance away from the machine (booth logistics \ space)

  • I wouldn't recommend running the pump when theres no fluid in it!

  • I'm engaging with the outlet of a smoke machine and a kettle at the same time.

  • This is also a great way to break the pump...

  • this shit somehow broke my foggers on the day of a massive event. friggin lameee

  • How did u get the pipe out?

  • ma smoke machines not been workin for a while now it does thanks

  • you can also use 50% distilled water and 50% clear vinegar, the vinegar breaks down all the build up in the pipes. especially if you use fragrance

  • I do this but I also clear the hole in the nozzle with the cleaning pin thing that came with the machine (Martin Magnum 550).

  • mine just keeps buzzing saying the tank is empty but it has the water in

  • Great video thanks man,,,,,, i used difficult method before......... thanks to you now its very eazzzyyyyyyyyyy,,,,

  • my fog machine doesnt have the pipe

so i just put boiled water thats cooled inside and let it run until its all gone then add fog juice for a test run

  • i no u put this a long time ago but did it work?

  • yeah its simple maintence i actualy gotta do that to my fog machine soon its been awhile

  • excellent! thanx, but where do I get ionized water?

    anyway I appreciate this video

  • he tells it,

boil water, let it cool down and you have the water he talks about :)

    grts Gerdy

  • Boiled water is distilled water not de-ionised. De-ionised is made using an ion exchange resin not a kettle. You can get de-ionised water from Halfords (used to top up car batteries).

  • The clogge in he pipe is not in the big problem. It's the one in the metallic very tiny nozzle.

  • can u use distilled or iodised water and i hav been told to use cold water and vinegar and run that through the system untill the tank is half empty would this work please get bak to me on all of these ?`s i really need some help on this thank you

  • you can also buy an acid product, this does the same job but it has no chance of damageing the inside. it can be placed straight into the machine without clearing the pipe first. it does cost more thn this idea but reduces the risk of injury. it is also reusable and it doesnt vapourise, it comes out the nozzle as liquid

  • Just did this on my "choked" Antari F-80Z and it cleared!! It is now working like new!! Thanks for the tip, keep up the good work

  • can you do to evry SMOKE MACHINE

  • You can get deionised water from a car spares centre such as Halfords as its used to top up car batteries. They sell it in 1 litre bottles for a few quid. As someone said earlier, boiled water is distilled not deionised.

  • thx for the tut I'm going to try this right away

  • thanks good help !

  • You need distilled water which is basically pure water. Pure water wont rust out the guts as there is no contaminants that will start the rusting process. You can buy this in the shops, house wives use it in their irons to make them last longer.

  • Water which you have boiled in a kettle and then allowed to cool is NOT deionised and is NOT suitable for use. All of the ions are still dissolved in the water - in actual fact you will simply increase the concentration of ions due to some of the water evaporating. All you have done is killed off most of any bacteria in the water. To de-ionise water you must pass it through an ion exchanger. Perhaps you were thinking about distilled water, but you still need to actually distill the water.

  • John, In your opinion is it better to drain you fog juice from your machine after every event?

  • Well guys hows this for a test............

Old 15 year old Martin Junior Fogger............

    started to struggle.

cleaned as directed.............now its perfect..no problems

    many thanks

proving its not to late to teach an old dog new tricks!

  • I have read comments else where about adding vinegar or citric acid....any thoughts???

  • Not sure although vinega and citric acid are acids and may be able to help get rid of any blockages?? j

  • going to clean it tomorrow thanks for all the info it is appreciated......we are out here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In My Manual For My Smoke machine it sayz to do it twice.

Once with water and once with some 50/50 water and vinegar solution

  • @ellaskins I have used vinegar in my smoke machine to unblock it, not really cleaning as such.

  • @jearley2424 What ever you do... DO NOT use vinegar... trust me it only ruins the heating element.

  • @jearley2424

Depends on what your block is made out of, Acetic acid (vinegar) is a strong solvent when it is hot. However it has a tendency to eat away at certain metals (tin and aluminum are vulnerable to it). Vinegar will do a good job at cleaning a machine but i wouldnt suggest using it offten. I also suggest running about 8oz of distilled water after using vinegar.

  • @Lokivoid Good advice, I'm a Chem E - after you run either vinegar or citric acid (do not use any stronger acids) through your unit follow it with 8oz deionized water (you can buy this from most grocers). By the way boiling water in a kettle does NOT produce deionized water - it produces boiled water that is more concentrated in dissolved salts that may end up blocking your unit - therefore do buy DI water from your grocer - it's pretty cheap.

  • Thanks for the vid, J. It's things like this that really come in useful for some of us!

  • great vid! thanks, for showing hoe to clean one..

  • Thnx

  • always wondered how to do this, thanks!

  • I have a new Chauvet 1700 fogger and only used it 3 or 4 times. It shoots the fog out of the nozzle but all of it is not fog some is a liquid. So it spills on the floor and there is fog liquid on the floor, which is VERY dangerous I Plan on attempting your cleaning method when i get home. Do you have any other suggestions ? Like i said its damn near brand new

  • this could be down to the heating element not being hot enough , and so in turn the fluid is not condensing enough. j

  • im gald youve said this coz ive had a prob with mine for ages.. i know its a blockage but could never get to it.. thanks mate.. will give it a go

  • If you're in the states and don't want to boil your own, look in a grocery store for "Distilled" water. Distilled water is water that's boiled into steam and condensed back to water so it's free of impurities. You should be able to find it in drug stores and supermarkets.

  • I can't believe they are selling boiled water (:-}

  • Its NEVER a good idea to run the machine dry.. Empty the container of fluid and then refill with de-ionised water and run the machine till steam comes out.

DONT RUN THE PUMP EMPTY - IT WILL DESTROY YOUR MACHINE

  • to cfmonline, i sort of agree, but you need to get rid of all the Smoke fluid to get clean water through the pipe, so only one second of nothing in the pipe is fine. This way you will only get water and not a mixture . j

  • Smoke machines smell nice. That's why I go to parties - because of the smoke machine smell

  • @opmdevil they also have scents you can get for them too. thats probably what you smell. because regular fog dosent have much of a smell.

  • Johnathan, you said that WHAT kind of water we should use? Normal water or any special kind of?

  • de-ionized. you can buy this or, like J said, it's basicly normal water but boiled and coolen down.

  • It's the water that is usually used for ironing, right?

  • think so.

  • nice job, you can also use vinegar for stubborn blockages.

  • great vid, but where are your saftey goggles and gloves, tut tut lol

  • Thanks J!

  • nice
