  • I rode this all the time as a kid - today, it's still one of my favorites. Those turns over the pond freaked me out. Plus you alway thought you'd hit your head going under the tracks. Great coaster, shame it and the park disappeared! The other great ride were the old bumper cars with electricity shooting from the ceiling - sparks everywhere. I miss Riverview.

  • This is the first rollercoaster I ever rode. Thanks for the memories!

  • That right turn, would have (if it went off) would'a gone into that smelly little pond,...not the river;) The river was a half mile to the south. That was a scary right turn tho! As it got older, that turn got scarier and scarier.

  • WAAAAAA F7 F7 F7! That FOV is ridic!

  • wasnt there one rollercoaster that moved to adventure land but is no longer at adventure land either...?

  • @dumbdude007 There is a rumor that the Tornado at Adventureland came from Riverview. The truth is that the wood coaster at Riverview was dismantled and scrapped and also the Wild Mouse was scrapped. Neither made it to Adventureland.

  • Why is the FOV so strange in this video?

  • Great job on the simulation. I recall, the cars were more like a bobsled. Where one passenger sat behind the other and the maximum number of riders per car was two. Am I right, or has old age done its damage? I do remember, the few times I rode the Wild Mouse at Riverview, it felt like the car was going to fling right off the track!

  • @tombrehmer Good memory Tom. Yes, the actual cars were more like a bobsled. You could squeeze 3 people in a car but usually two was the norm. Everybody that rode it remembers the right angle turns that seemed to be headed right into the river more than anything. There are pictures at the Riverview web site listed in the description above

  • Were all Wild Mouse rides the same, regardless of where they were located? I remember one at Roseland Park in Canandaigua NY that (from what I remember) is very much like this one.

  • This video makes it look like a nice smooth ride but when it came to those corners it really jerked you all over the place, and it really felt like you were going to fly right off. Of course, before you got on some one always told you that a car had flown off once, true or not. That was a scary ride!

  • This is really cool. I would never have guessed I'd be able to see Riverview again with simulation. You did a great job. I remember getting a day off school and going to Riverview for being a sixth grade crossing guard at Perkins. Thought I was going to die that day as the Mouse would shoot off and land in the water, but somehow, it didn't! That was probably in about 1975.

  • I rode everything at Riverview EXCEPT the Wild Mouse. I never got up the nerve, it looked so rickety and unstable, and heard bad things about it.

  • looks a bit like the fairs new wild mouse, just a little bit

  • MAN i wish it was still there im a kid and i never got to go becauce those retars tor it down. but i live very close to it and my brother works there

  • I went to Riverview one time as a kid in the late 70's. It had to be near the closing of the park. The Coaster wasn't working that day and the Wild Mouse was working. What a ROUGH scary ride. I thought the car was going to tip and go off the edge. My head beat against the hard back of the seat. Scared the crap out of me and I didn't ride it again. The park was in pretty sad shape as I remember.

  • Okay, I have to ask, "have you guys considered getting together with some others in Des Moines and rebuilding the Park? Using as much as possible (even though I know most is totally gone)...That would be a real boost for Highland Park, and Des Moines.

  • This is awesome...this was the first roller coaster I EVER rode...one thing though, I seem to remember the cars being painted up to look like a mouse?

  • the wild mouse was my favorite ride as a little kid in the 50s...always thot i was surely going to fly off into the lake, but no one ever did. luv this, thanks so much!
