  • lol ... loved it.

  • Hey can you do any autorotations?

  • This looks like a very nice model with enclosed cockpit and all. The 25 mph headwind explains the 0 mph landing so I wasn't all that impressed. I thought the takeoff was more impressive and wonder how much the pilot weighs? I also wonder how close that propeller came to hitting the ground.

  • Hey guys this zero landing looked cool , does that mean That this Gyro copter can't crash when the engine fails , on let's say 5000 feet?

  • So at 0:37, the pilot tipped the nose forward to avoid stalling, right?

  • @1lllllllll1 I made the same observation.

  • the cameraman is a little nuts for standing that close with the rotor blades spinning at that angle, could have taken his head off, unless he's just zoomed in.

  • This is an autogiro by Juan de la Cierva from Murcia (Spain).

  • Can you stall the rotor? If so, is there any chance of restarting it or do you crash?

  • hëy_ì_fëEl_so_lÓñÊlý_tøDAÿ

  • 0:35 straight to heaven!!

  • Hell, I've seen guys climb ladders as fast as he climbed back into the air. Cool.

  • lol stall speed is non existent

  • @Calvert1212 no stall speed = no worries :)

  • omg I must buy one how much are they?

  • fake

  • So is it the wind, which was probably challenging, also make the zero speed landing possible? I'm obviously not a pilot. Or physisist. Or weather man. What the hell am I, anyhow? Nevermind about that. What was my question?

  • How safe are the gyros?

  • looks fake

  • that was a very cool bit of flying

  • Superb. Fly by a 20kt wind. Many small planes do not fly by such winds.

  • I was very badly raped in one of those.

  • that guy hould have been flying the gyrocoter in mad max 2 the road warrior ;)

  • about how much does one of this cost????

  • are those things dangerous?

  • they must be incredible planes to fly, do you need a lot of training ?

  • isnt it bad to back slam the tail like that or was it less hard than it looks to do

  • Great!!! But wasn't the takeoff dangerous??? It looks like the Rotors could hit the ground!

  • Remember my friends, the airplanes are big " business" they will buy off anyone who builds this in mass quantities to sell the public the airlines would go down. Any massive mega industry is like this it is the year 2010 it is a disgrace the common people teens and everyone can't go to work this way and shopping or just go out for a ride. what a joy this is lovely inception from the mega billionaire airlines of today. Please make available for all rich pay high poor pay low. its an idea :)

  • Its got to be so cool to fly' I know I'd like to, Hey' would all of you like to see my new invention? its the most extreme rat trap ever.

  • Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great flying !

  • Nice Gyro cockpit ! bet its warm ?

  • no fake

  • damn thats so sick do they have it in U.S.A.

  • looks like a helluva lot of fun

  • faszinierend :)

  • I am really fascinated by this :)

  • Ich bin wirklich fasziniert von den Dingern :)

  • not fake but its good you added that its a zero Ground speed landing. Very cool and nice flying!

  • some ppl are so ignorant.

simple maths, simple physics, and for the ultra daft...wiki.

fake? why? whats fake? even the pilots smile is genuine...

  • I hate it when people who know absolutely nothing about the video say it is fake. These copters are magnificent invention and look like a blast to fly. they way they are is so different from other aircraft. I hope to fly one of these some day (as well as ultralights, helicopters, cessnas, and gliders). XD

  • is it homebuilt??

  • @tsunamim

It's no fake ... it's just enough wind - you can hear it on the micro ...

if the minimum horizontal forward speed of your gyrocopter is 20 knots, a headwind of 20 knots will make you look like starting vertical.

I today made also a very short landing with < 3 m ground roll.

  • @tsunamim no fake!

  • @tsunamim

no its because you're a retard

  • Very nice

  • waw - nice

  • I love how the stall speed is so very slow!

  • WANT

  • Honey, where's my keys?

    They're in the Gyrocopter

Thanks! I'll see you when I get home!

  • I WANT IT!

  • Excellent! Nice job piloting i know this can be a very technical maneuver.

  • i heard that this helicopter doesn't stall, true? can you explain me why?

  • @heberorozco Because it's not a helicopter. If you noticed in the video, it's very windy there.

When facing head winds, a gyrocopter can take off and land in a very short distance because the headwinds are creating the life.

Essentially like how a plane can fly stationary, inside a wind tunnel.

The windier it is, the safer gyrocopters are, as long as you can keep it facing the wind

  • awesome

  • ВАУ! То ветер такой сильный? Или АВТОЖИР!?

  • O CARA É BOM MESMO.....

  • que lindo!

  • If you cut the engine in mid air, do these float down gradually or do they drop like a brick such as cutting the engine in a regular helicopter? I know the top rotor isn't powered and rotates with the wind made by forward motion.

  • You can"glide" to a safe landing in a gyroplane because the rotor is always in autorotation. Helicopters are capable of autorotations too. Helicopters have an overrunning gear that allow the rotors to spin freely with the engine off. They definitely don't drop like a brick unless you pull in more pitch and allow the RPM to drop. I've done a few practice autorotations in helicopters myself.

  • That looks extremely dangerous...

  • i love gyrocopters

  • I was very badly raped in one of these.

  • could you kindly elaborate on how you could perform sex in a single seat gyrocpter?

  • @yyyzzzz You still have one hand free.

  • That looked terrifying!

  • I was very badly raped in one of those.

  • Whoever can fly these obviously have balls of steel

  • @usernameavailable152 rubbish, they are a lot safer than a helicopter, I flew one 20 years ago, had motor cut outs, etc, all safely lived thru'. I'm too old now to fly, but they were great machines.

  • 45kmh... so the takeoff speed is 50

  • I really do not know much of anything about these rigs, I fly fixed wing, but these little sukkaz scare the B-Geezus outta me

  • Modern designs are quite safe, the large horizontal stabilisers and the fact that the CG issues which plagued some older designs are now understood have solved the pitch stability issues that gave gyros their bad rep. The training is also of a much higher standard these days too. Flown within the envelope they are quite safe. Unfortunately the accident rate is still quite high. I suspect this is due to the fact there's still a lot of older designs flying around with people being too vigarous.

  • Why ?

  • ... but it isn't! It's easier to fly like this than to fake it!

  • gyrocopters are built to be able to do this, its not hard 4 the gyro to do it at all.

  • you idiot!! 25kts headwind!!! Your mom fakes!

  • nice means of transportation! Could it economically beat any plane? what about the fuel economy?

  • "Could it economically beat any plane" ... frankly speaking: no! Fuel consumption is about 13.5 l/h MOGAS, which is slightly below 11l / 100 km at no wind. But also in terms of fun it's a class of it's own!

  • @deefoutu I beg to differ on the economy question your focused just on fuel but operating a convetional plane would be far more expensive. Not to mention landing fee's. I would think what you lose in fuel use you would more than make up for in other saving's, maintenance, registration storage, I could be wrong. I was once before. Nice flying mate.

  • @deefoutu Now it is understood that the overhead rotating wings act like an aeroplane wings. Is it possible to built the overhead rotating wings like a fixed circular wing and also take-off all the same but much safer?

  • @deefoutu 11l/110km?? Dude, that's almost like a car. It's awesome! How much do these things cost?

  • @deefoutu Weeeeeell... It may be more in lph than fixed wing, but it is way cheaper than a heli. The other issue with fixed wings is that you have to get to and from the strip where you land, park, and take off. An autogyro can take off from most surfaces in a short distance and land in an even smaller place - both very close from points of departure and destination.

  • @LessAiredvanU I like the idea of flying, I went to a party las weekend and a girl had few air rides in this kind of things. I am in Panama City, Panama, and she told me there is an airstrip by Calzada Larga place. I will get over there soon and find ouy by myself.

  • Comment removed

  • Typically, no, but it depends on how far you have to drive to an airport that could handle a regular airplane. If there's safe & legal space for this machine at your origin and destination, this may be better for some missions. You have to consider the entire trip, not just the airborne part.

  • @paul260478 And you don't need a runway.

  • @paul260478 When you say "any plane" do you mean any single passenger plane? Or do you mean any plane, any plane at all?

  • where do you get these?!!?!?!?!? i want one so effing badly

  • ROFL 0:32 LOLLLLLLL

  • really nice! ^^

  • are there gyrocopters that have engines that also power the rotors?

  • Of course there are: they call them HELIcopters! ;-)

Most modern gyros prerotate their rotors with motor power BEFORE flight. But during flight there is no power transmission to the rotor to keep the whole thing simple.

  • ok. but can you still takeoff without the prerotator?

  • Yes: Just push your rotor into a slow rotatation manually, climb in, pull the stick back and roll slowly against the wind to increase rotor RPM. When the RPM exceed 200/min you can finally start as usual ... But on a populated airfield it is much more convenient to just prerotate with rotor power which makes this procedure also safer for other traffic.

  • ok, now things are clearer.

  • kinda, but theyre tail propeller is bent 90 degress and the thing is called a helicopter :D,

but there are some gyros that power up theire rotors while on the ground though, for shorter runways.

  • Do you need a license to fly it?? Or it is more of "knowing how to fly" and you are ok to fly.

  • I'm not sure about the legal situation in US - but in Europe this gyro is regarded as an "Ultralight Gyrocopter" and you need to have a special sport pilot license.

  • ok.

  • For a single seater homebuilt gyroplane in the USA no licence is required - by law. Nevertheless, instruction is highly recommended.

    Michael

  • @GyroTecMio Really? What makes you think that?

  • @GyroTecMio can u fly in and out of small airports too? Can u bly over cities?

I am wondering what the max speed is on these and what their cruising fuel economy is.

  • Freakin sweet. I want one of these so bad...

  • Gotta love the pilot's cheesy grin after that landing.

  • Nothing new. Anyone remember the Wallace autogyro in the Bond films?

Unfortunately Wallace died after a crash. He used to do some pretty extreme manoeuvres during demos.

    Dave.

  • I must apologise.

Ken Wallis was not killed in the accident & as far as I can ascertain is still alive.

    Dave.

  • sorry, consensus has it that you're still a complete tool for saying "nothing new"

  • i'm going to get one next week

  • what a wonderful gyro.10 out of 10.. very windy day and still able to fly . now thats cool

  • wow, I WANT one!

  • woo, how did you do that?!

  • just need a good gyro and some wind -

@ patches2486: no fake, I was the pilot.

  • Show de bola, maquiuna quente>blz.

  • nice landing!! :)

  • It was just you. Its as real as your stupidity.

  • Yeah! How much does a thing like this cost??

  • Around 14000 dollars for a used one.

  • 1-50 g's depending if you want 2 seats or a body shell.....

  • WANT ONE!

  • Nice landing! And the takeoff wasn't shabby either! Wow! Gyros are so cool.

  • How much did you pay for that? Ive been looking at some for 8,000 but don't look near as nice as that one.

  • Wirklich "zero speed", bravo! Ist der 582 ideal für den DF02? Ich habe auch einen in meinem Zenair STOL CH 701, aber etwas mehr Leistung wäre besser.
