Just like a duck under in wrestling. Easy enough. I'm going to try this in BJJ tonight. Thanks! Obviously not from a Thai clinch, but sometimes you get into the clinch position in BJJ
street fighting requires much more mental training then physical even more so than ring fighting. I remember the first time I had a street fight even though it went okay but still my hands were trembling afterwards. Street fighting is a WHOLE different ball game. I know this from experience.
Gentlemen, I think this is a perfectly viable reversal here. bdm30, your point is well taken but this is a series of physical demos in the physical altercation. the psychology of pre-combat is important but a completely different thing altogether, so let's stick to what the vid is about. I think this would work just fine and is completely adaptable into other counter attacks. And even "drunks" watch UFC and clinch if they fight isn't going their way. seems perfectly viable to me...
Secondly you need to treach how to behave, for example your cut off in the carpark, the guy gets out "you mortherfuc!er, cant you fing see me" what happens next ? your vids seem to start at the physical level once the outcome is already bad . also if your going to use SD on someone besure they think they have you intimidated, either they will back off or continue to agress you but without any sort of guard which will make them easier to injure. Its actually very hard to hit someone cleanly.
Street situations are about agression and fear, for most, and I include here 99% of Martial artists (who are typically nice folks) this will be a VERY foreign experiance, responces range from shaking, feeling sick, heavy legs, crying, etc. Sorry chaps but hangin out with your friends at the gym does not simulate late night terror alone at the bus stop when someone is screaming at you.
Hi guys, Im sure your intentions a good. Just know a fight has very little to do with techniques, a better approach to self defence is training the fear responce so when your placed in that sutuation you dont a/ freeze or b/ worse behave in a kneejerk fashion like a 10year old and posture back. Simple diffusion... "you got problem you f'ing C*unt, what you looking at", appropraite self defence responce? where do you cover this is your videos ?
i agree up to where he says not to slam because the more you try to stay and fight/choke the mroe oppertunity the other person gets to fight back its better to slam and move away trust me you do this as a slam there not getting up
Furthermore, a "slap pummel" or "Punch pummel" is a MUCH more effective way to deal with a Thai grip. . It keeps your head away from danger and allows you to establish a more dominant hold so you can strike, take down or release and create space for "Self Defense" purposes. . .
""slap pummel" or "Punch pummel" DONT KNOW WHAT THEYARE,CAN YOU EXPLAIN IT PLEASE,I ALWAYS USE MY THUMB TO THE RIGHT EYE(I HAVE THAT NAIL A LITTLE LONGER ON PORPUSE) WHILE DEFENDING KNEES WITH THE OTHER HAND .DONT KNOW WHATS A SLAP PUMMEL,PLEASE EXPLAIN!

@bdm30 that is very true. i've felt that from personal experience. but its
only because of the fear of recieving that first punch. once that is out of the way
you'll have your senses back and your adrenaline will kick in.

this will work in a real fight. and thats why its important. hes talking about eye gouges so obviously not an mma setting
nicholasgregg 3 years ago 2
lol this will work about 1 in 2000 attempts in a MMA fight. . . . but it looks cool at least.
TheIrishPitbull08 3 years ago
It will work in a street fight, SELF DEFENSE. Forget sport MMA.

I am a professional MMA fighter and (former) avid street fighter. . This is VERY BASIC half pummel, with a duck under into an arm-triange...
I do this for a living, this is only going to work against an idiot or a drunk outside a bar.. And drunks dont Muay Thai clench - So goodluck lol.
