This level is incredibly annoying on Veteran. Not only are the bots/ AI useless, all the bad-guys shoot at YOU, and you alone it feels. Everytime I come up to the first barrel I die while pushing it over. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
@MrRanyeWest i did it on vet. you need to clear as many as you can with frags and the china lake then rush to the barrel. after you survive the first barrel you will get a check point so the 2nd one becomes easier ... just kill the guys that run up the hill next to the barrel then run to it and push obj. complete

Thats cuz hitcounts in blackops are ridiculously sporadic... Im going thru it on vet again and Im getting anywhere from 2-3 hits and im dead to 6 hits and im dead....and sometimes after getting hit once, i get hit again and game over.. -.- They seem to vary depending on where you are and just how close you are to the next checkpoint... at least thats the way it seems to me or maybe its how many youve taken beforehand.. but dont be judging by hitcount... cuz it does vary.. .
Damage is based on the weapon's damage and range, and the accuracy and range of the shot. Closer shots = more damage. Head shots = more damage. Chest and stomach shots = more damage. Example, Long shots with a pistol to the finger take lots of shots. Point blank shots to the head or body with the shotgun kill in one shot.
@HazyundSky I never said that head shots always kill. I just said that they increase the damage done to the victim compared to shots in other areas. What I said about the shotgun was just an example. I have played every single CoD console game and I find that damage always works like this. It works much the same in other games as well.
@HazyundSky If you wanna test it, then go to multiplayer with max health and count the shots it takes to kill a second player. Test head shots from various distances for range. Test shots from the same gun and distance to different parts of the body to find the extra damage done to head and body. Test shots to the head from the same distance with different guns to determine how weapon damage works. You will find that everything works as I said.
@smokeymcskater if bother players are standing perfectly still yes you are correct. but try this use an intervention with an fmj and stopping power... 1shot kill someone.... repeat 10 times see how many 1shot kills you get. ok not just change fmj to silencer... your ratio will change... you'll shoot 10 people only 1shot kill maybe half of them. black ops may be a little better on actual damage.. but mw2 half the time people don't die when they should and do when they shouldn't
@HazyundSky You have to account for the weapon's damage and range, and the ACCURACY AND RANGE OF THE SHOT in all situations. In multiplayer you also have to account for perks. When you remove FMJ, you lower your weapons damage. When you add the silencer, you also lower your weapons range. Thus, the same weapon with a silencer instead of FMJ has lower damage and range and may take more shots to get a kill.
@smokeymcskater i am sorry that i overestimated you i assumed you would predetermine that all would be accounted for... apparently not. regardless of range the intervention does not kill in 1 hit with the silencer. i have shot and been shot by interventions and shotguns from various ranges including point blank all the way to the distances across wasteland i have had many deaths but have walked away somehow with minor damage. especially against shotguns have i remand alive
@smokeymcskater and another thing... since you seem to think that mw2 and other cod games guns/damage are accurate... do you know how strong a desert eagle really is? if you did you would know that in 1~2 in torso or head your enemy would die(note this is from point blank or up to 10 feet) how come it takes around half your mag or 4+ shots to bring someone down with said gun

I am not talking about who is a better player or gut lucky. I am saying that the math for the damage seems pretty consistent throughout each game. If you attack someone with the exact same range/weapon/attachment(s)/perk/game/type it all adds up consistently.
I just tested what you said about the intervention, and you're wrong. On normal mode (not hardcore) with stopping power, an intervention with a silencer will kill with a point blank shot to the body or a shot to the head even with range. I don't assume that you are taking everything into account because you obviously aren't. If you understood the game the way many of us do, then you wouldn't question the games mechanics or compare it to real life.
@smokeymcskater You should also consider that not all headshots are the same: If you graze the ear, it does less damage than a shot between the eyes. Online you must also account for lag: you may see a shot go between an enemy's eyes while the host registers the shot as a complete miss.

In Firing Range(Multiplayer Map) if you spectate on the sign that says GATEWAY TO HELL under some lines there is a word "QUARANTATNE" and go inside the word you will hardly see a word "Khe Sanh"...so Firing Range is a part of this map!!!
Start to copy and Paste on every Black ops video that shows single player on this map or Multiplayer on Firing Range(I found it alone) :)
My least favorite thing is the "support" that Woods is supposed to provide...but when ur caught in a tight spot all the fucker does is say "Your gettin' shot up!"......NOFUCKINSHITDUMBASS
@Kr4v3rd I finally did it! I don't know if your still stuck on it but try this... Make it to the bunker right below the ammo bunker. There will be three or four guys you'll need to kill, then run out and stab that barrel. Then work your way over to the barrel it shows in this video. It took me a couple times with this method but it freaking worked! Let me know if it worked for you.
The worst part for me is the hit detection. It's among the worst I've ever seen. If my crosshair is dead-on at center-mass, a hit should be registered when I pull the trigger. If the enemy is the only thing in my screen, a hit should definitely register. All these false objectives and buggy designs just reinforce how much Treyarch sucks at making a pretty straightforward game. At this point, I would consider them turning on their computers in the morning an accomplishment for them.
Ridiculous on veteran... Not the difficulty but the false objectives and bugs... It took me ten tries to figure out that we're not supposed to follow woods but wait for the airstrike and 30 tries more to figure out there are napalm barrels
This looked way too easy to get on the first time. Took me about 2 hours to figure out a pattern to beat in on Veteran. You cant pop up because the opposition is key-holing shots every time.
this is the most retarded level ever, this campaign is horrible, half the time i have no clue what i am doing this is the perfect example of it, there is no instruction during the gameplay about any barrels
First time I played that mission I was high as heck and was stuck for an hour at least it let me go through even tho I didn't push the barrels. They put icons for obvious stuff but not for when a whole army is attacking you with unlimited troops, that's bull crap.

Not to discredit you, but this doesn't seem like veteran. On veteran, 3 hits, and you're dead. No offense, but you took 5, this has to be hardened or lower.

I was stuck on this part for so long that it made me not want to play the game. Now I see WTF I was supposed to do. Stupid ass game just said get to the right bunker and nothing was clear, sometimes I would spend almost an hour just shooting guys to death. All they yell would be "by the barrels!" so stupid.
@TifaLuva ya its so stupid how Treyarch has to result to infinite spawning enemies to make a game hard. The second i stepped 1 foot down this hill i got shot to pieces until i found this walkthrough bloody ridiculous. Still, those tunnels at the end of executive order were much harder :(

The only bullshit part, And the one cheap ass mistake 3arc makes is the "Infinite spawn" system, It's a fucking cheap ass way of increasing difficulty that for the rest of the game developers stopped using in the 90's and cheap ass 3arc still use it because they lack the creativity to come up with anything else.
infintyawards is a joke the levels on modernwarfare2 to easy veteren felt like regular it was a joke to shooting games and atleast treyarch makes the levels hard in places get you thinking what your next move will be for you people that like a challenge pay operation flashpoint one of the best shooting game out in years
The word barrels was nowhere in the mission objectives. I killed thousands of guys on hardened and got the the checkpoint at the bottom with a well thought out stratigic plan AND then held the position for a good 30 seconds before I died because my team was too wuss to get down there.
the shitty things is that when your playing on veteran.... the second you finish opening a barrel you get shot by the 20 AI that never stop spawning.... no way

@LilPupAnime I agree, it's horrible the way these games so often make all your buddies an unreliable decoy AT BEST. They never have your back yet you are supposed to charge ahead and win every inch of ground yourself. I'm sure there's a better way they could balance the AI - I thought MW1 was the best by far in this regard.
Also, I found the barrels thing REALLY annoying - how the fuck was I suposed to figure that out in all the noise and gunfire and confusion!?

I love playing call of duty campaign on veteran. I find it fun. I was stuck in this part for hours. Sometimes I give up and watch tv or walk my dog. But I keep coming back to this. I pushed down all the way hoping for a checkpoint. How the hell was I suppose to know to push the barrels? Trearch is awesome at making multiplayer games. But their veteran cod story modes suck so hard. CoDWaW's last level was like impossible. To this day idk how I finished it. Infinity ward is better at campaign.

Damage is based on the weapon's damage and range, and the accuracy and range of the shot. Closer shots = more damage. Head shots = more damage. Chest and stomach shots = more damage. I've been doing this for about 4 hours and I was tearing my hair out. Then I watched this video, noticed the barrels actually did something usefull, and completed the level in like 2 minutes. FUCK MY LIFE

In Firing Range(Multiplayer Map) if you spectate on the sign that says GATEWAY TO HELL under some lines there is a word "QUARANTATNE" and go inside the word you will hardly see a word "Khe Sanh"...so Firing Range is a part of this map!!!
Start to copy and Paste on every Black ops video that shows single player on this map or Multiplayer on Firing Range(I found it alone) :)

@Kr4v3rd I finally did it! I don't know if your still stuck on it but try this... Make it to the bunker right below the ammo bunker. There will be three or four guys you'll need to kill, then run out and stab that barrel. Then work your way over to the barrel it shows in this video. It took me a couple times with this method but it freaking worked! Let me know if it worked for you.

The worst part for me is the hit detection. It's among the worst I've ever seen. If my crosshair is dead-on at center-mass, a hit should be registered when I pull the trigger. If the enemy is the only thing in my screen, a hit should definitely register. All these false objectives and buggy designs just reinforce how much Treyarch sucks at making a pretty straightforward game. At this point, I would consider them turning on their computers in the morning an accomplishment for them.

This looked way too easy to get on the first time. Took me about 2 hours to figure out a pattern to beat in on Veteran. You cant pop up because the opposition is key-holing shots every time.

First time I played that mission I was high as heck and was stuck for an hour at least it let me go through even tho I didn't push the barrels. They put icons for obvious stuff but not for when a whole army is attacking you with unlimited troops, that's bull crap.

I was stuck on this part for so long that it made me not want to play the game. Now I see WTF I was supposed to do. Stupid ass game just said get to the right bunker and nothing was clear, sometimes I would spend almost an hour just shooting guys to death. All they yell would be "by the barrels!" so stupid.

The only bullshit part, And the one cheap ass mistake 3arc makes is the "Infinite spawn" system, It's a fucking cheap ass way of increasing difficulty that for the rest of the game developers stopped using in the 90's and cheap ass 3arc still use it because they lack the creativity to come up with anything else.

The word barrels was nowhere in the mission objectives. I killed thousands of guys on hardened and got the the checkpoint at the bottom with a well thought out stratigic plan AND then held the position for a good 30 seconds before I died because my team was too wuss to get down there.

@LilPupAnime I agree, it's horrible the way these games so often make all your buddies an unreliable decoy AT BEST. They never have your back yet you are supposed to charge ahead and win every inch of ground yourself. I'm sure there's a better way they could balance the AI - I thought MW1 was the best by far in this regard.
Also, I found the barrels thing REALLY annoying - how the fuck was I suposed to figure that out in all the noise and gunfire and confusion!?

I love playing call of duty campaign on veteran. I find it fun. I was stuck in this part for hours. Sometimes I give up and watch tv or walk my dog. But I keep coming back to this. I pushed down all the way hoping for a checkpoint. How the hell was I suppose to know to push the barrels? Trearch is awesome at making multiplayer games. But their veteran cod story modes suck so hard. CoDWaW's last level was like impossible. To this day idk how I finished it. Infinity ward is better at campaign.
