Wow, what a slice of life (and history) I'm old enough to have watched this on late Saturday morning. As a young white guy I knew I was watching something that just wasn't in my DNA but man it was so cool to see. Thankfully You Tube is keeping all this for us.
These were the days.... when a man treated his women like a lady, and she in return let him know he was the man. A time when love was an art and we expressed it in all we did. Some how we allowed society to shift our world, and we all tumbled into this place we are in now. I still have memories of those golden days of peace, love, and happiness.
This was when we understood the beauty of being black. We loved our hair, we loved our uniqueness, we celebrated our dance without being overly vulgar, and our men....our beautiful black men..........loved our hair.....and get this..... they loved their hair too! This was when a brother would ask a sista to dance and a sista said "YES! LET'S GET DOWN!" with no hesitation. Wow......when we knew how to have fun instead of standing on the darn wall looking at each other trying to be cute.
@FRANKFUZZYNUTZ Hey, Mirror, sorry about the length…but,…"Looking at each other trying to be cute?" Girlfriend don't make me laugh! I work night club security, have been for 14 years. If the fathers of these girls could see their "angles" bent over, her tiny skirt almost around her waist (see doesn't know it, the club is dark) and lucky she wearin' draws, cuz' I've seen a lotta girls come in with none.
@MIRRORMIRRORTV (CONT) I long for the days when a pimp was considered the "scum" of the neighborhood. When we had little storefront shops that sold blacklight posters, dashikas and incense. Now we find every thing at the swapmeet. Where ironically sisters "buy" their hair. Remember the natural comb? Only white people alled it an "Afro pick". Thanks, Mirror, for a tip down memory lane. A few brothers still believe in respect. I'm still holding it down. Now if I can remember where I put it...?
@MIRRORMIRRORTV Nowadays folks trying to bleach their skin thinking it will get them ahead. Music with derogatory words used towards our men and women and corrupting the mind of kids. "Reality" shows that shows ignorance to our culture. Things have got to change...one day.
@TikiShootah HAAAAA! Mean muggin is an olympic sport. That was funny! HAAA! I was just imagining it in my head and it cracked me up. Brother against the wall with his drink mean muggin, sista sittin in her chair dancing because she doesn't want to sweat but mean muggin every one that walks by including brotha on the wall. Brothers just mean muggin each other cause they to dam cool to ask as sista to dance! HA! The annoucer "We have mean muggin on the wall in first place and he wins GOLD!"
I was a teenager at those times. I thought we were so cool and fly. can you dig it. solid and right on were the things to say, stuff like keep on truckin and on and on. But looking back at the way we dressed as men is a laughing shame. Low hanging skiny jeans aint that bad
thanks you x 100,000,000 for uploading this.. seriously awesome! brings back memories when I was kid. I'd watch soul train as a kid...correction I'd dance my lil @ss off to soul train and did my own soul train line in my room.
