I believe this is mislabeled as the London Festival Orchestra; If you use the google translate feature then the last sentence shows that it is the St. Petersburg Philharmonic led by Yuri Temirkanov violin soloist is Sayaka Shoji. Arigatou gozaimasu to @jfkd86 for this.
She reveals Thcaikovsky in fact was Japanese.. this is the most critical discovery of the Classical Music World of the last century and the millennium.. Yes TCHAIKOIVSKY WAS JAPANESE!
She is really an artist, an interpreter.. yes an interpreter: HOW MUCH THIS PERFORMANCE IS SO IN-WITHIN JAPANESE MUSIC AND WAY OF BOTH JAPANESE LANGUAGE AND MUSIC RHYTHM VARIATIONS AND INTONATION CHARACTER!
...
She is really an artist.. so nationally.. so artistically in-to-the universal!:
Second movement in hers leads to a unique romance peak into the end and the third is as sweet and as heart feeding as hot bread with milk.. so sweet together they are sugar-"free".
a very very outstanding performance. However, the cameraman (or the video director) have spoil this wonderful performance (visual part) because there was no close-up shorts focusing on the conductor nor other musicians, what a shame.
I'm fairly positive that is Yuri Temirkanov which would make the orchestra the St. Petersburg Phil and not the London Festival....I also recognize the concert master....guy has awesome hair
@kablue79 nope they didn't. those were actually dinosaurs, or even earlier, just vulcanos... Kinda sad but you don't seem to have evolved much from the jelly blob the humans evolved from... Credits to Evolution, not the 'so called 'gods"
The fact that this young lady and other young artists like her who have chosen to master this masterpiece ( no pun intended ) is even more impressive when one considers that when this
concerto was written the greatest Russian violinist of the day declared it unplayable due it's
extreme difficulty. It is not only a tribute to these great violinists but also to the genius of
WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWOWWO! I literally just cried tears of awesomeness from this. What an incredible performance/interpretation! Thanks so much for sharing this video!
When I first saw her play the Shostakovich violin concerto on Youtube, I knew she would be a violinist that needed to be watched closely. After seeing this performance, I can say without a doubt that she speaks the violin more than most violinists today. Her tone is so rich and unique.
In my opinion, this is the best performance of this concerto for violin and orchestra by Tchaikovsky today. A girl plays even better than Jansen, Kavakos, Oistrakh or Repin .. Sorry, but I don't know her name...
You are so awesome! I wish I can meet you : )

At about 8:10 the conductor takes break to blow his nose. He was right, Sayaka and the orchestra didn't really need his help. :)
