i dont like David Garrett...i respect his skill in violin and i think he has a lot of talent, but i cant feel any deep feeling from his music. Nigel is a real killer, the best violinist i have ever seen:)

I often listen to classical music while working. I clicked on this recording accidentally a few weeks ago; I did not know at all who the artist is. The music began, I returned to work. At 00:35, I stopped working and asked: my God, who is this? at 1:07 I already knew that he is the violinist I was searching for. Thanks to Nigel to play Winter and the other pieces the exact way I always wanted to hear them to be played and God bless him for making my life a bit more interesting and easier.
Pffey. I LOVE everything about this guy,. His energy, his courage to make the minor into major in you-know-where, his obvious taste for the true classicals. Actually, my only problem with Nigel is the football team. I'm so disappointed he supports the has-been Liverpool team, whereas ManUtd is the obvious team to cheer for.

Glenn Gould plays Goldberg Variations in 33m in the 50s and 5plusm in the 80s and Tatiana Nikolayeva in about 90 - always - and it is still fucking awesome all times :) tempo has nothing to do with our predilections, art is all about controlled freedom :D

Nigel is truly one of the best violinist in the world. He is quirky but unbeatable. Best version of Winter that I have seen. If you are a violinist then Nigel is who you strive to play like. He is the bar. A Tito thumbs up.

Kennedy is such a great virtuoso. This is my favorite version of Vivaldi's winter I. I like Perlman's version too but it's too slow and sweet whereas this one has a faster tempo and such an aggressive bravura just like a winter storm!

no i saw him on monday night, it's just that i posted it at about 3am which made it wednesday when i posted it.
i saw him at symphony hall, birmingham.
was amazing, although he turned up about 40 minutes late he stayed to play an extra half an hour beyond what he was supposed to perform, so it more than made up for it = D
@Giao1 no, as in he performed all of his pieces (on the programme so as to speak), so went on for the full time anyway, and then performed about 3-4 extra pieces on top of that, they were classy ones liked fiddler on the roof and a few of his own pieces
To comment on s0012823, Nigel may strike a wrong note now and then, but his passion, crescendos and decrescendos are excellent! Perfection does not always connote mastery!
I don't like this performance, I like the performance of Karajan and Mutter or Maki Itoi better. He strikes a lot of wrong notes and it sounds like a chainsaw.
Everyone makes their own version. But it doesn't sound like a chainsaw lol. And he is not striking wrong notes, what he does is that he also takes another note from the chord with the normal note.
