I'm in the advanced band and I'm also playing this song at the holiday concert coming soon, this video made me able to litsen of what it is supposed to sound like.(Though we play it a little slower) Thanks! ^-^
Playing the song this fast (the main section, not the intro) gives it a sense of off the rails, craziness, kind of thing. As for the weird noises, Mr. Pratte had a cubic butt-tonne of exotic percussion, and I think it fit well. The "aooga" horn wasn't his, though.
If memory serves, Seth blew his voice this concert, at least for a long while.
Played this when u was a beginner with the intermediate band. Favorite song throughout all middle school. When I played it we played the beginning slow so it seemed scarier. And my band teacher played with the lights and stuff and did a creepy laugh near the end. It was just an awesome song to ply and this video sounded great too!
im playing this in sixth grade and our eight grade band sounds way better...just sayin............thumbs up if u played this in sixth grade!!!!! and sound just as good or better
For those who think this was too fast, it was the decision of the conductor to have it played this way. If you have heard it or played it slower, perhaps your conductor was exercising his judgment as to how well you could play the piece.
@grayhawk12 I AGREE! first of all.... At 0:21 the clarinets and other ones that play nothing but quarter notes needa b quiet while the other ppl who play the main is louder. And yeah u guys r going WAYYY to fast
omg there isn't that many trumpets!!! there are like 16 at my school, and then only 5 flutes and like 8 clarinets and 2 baratones and 2 trombones and some altos but wow...
i played this song for a seventh grade concert :D i played the timpani in this song, but we had a waaaay smaller band so it was easier to hear it lol. we used an acme whistle for the scream at the end instead of an actual person though lolol
Played this song in our band:) we played ALOT slower than these guys but i've been humming this song all day so i decided to listen to it for old times sake :)
hello, our band is playing this soon .. sounds really coool . good job and what kind of things are you guys using for the scary noises in the backround? There is one that sounds like a witch. please get back :) thanks.

I think you guys rush this way too much and that the clarinet and flute solo is rushed way too much, and I think that the scream wasn't at all good

An ooga horn - hooked up to a battery. Have your band director shop online for one.
pratte1975 1 year ago
The scream at the end was one of the students. Mr. Pratte had auditions for the scariest scream and Seth got the part.
