I have to concur with NevinJarek I'm afraid. Although I think you've got some interesting direction with the bassoon solo, sampling a common time excerpt from the rite of spring for the vast duration of the track has pushed the sample completely out of context and made it quite meaningless. Stravinsky hardly has two bars in a row with the same time signature at the point you've taken the extract. I would strongly hesitate against calling this a 'version' of the Rite of Spring.
@rockinmuse No problem! I probably would do a different version completely right now. There are actually some great versions on the web but still my favorite recording is of Michael Tilson Thomas conduction the New York Philharmonic back in the 70's. It was something we tried but..it didn't do it for everyone. I do know that when we played it for a bunch of Russian acrobats (I play in CIrque Du Soleil ZED in Tokyo)-they loved it and were dancing to it. The performance of that was better.
Obviously, ignore the haters. Anything which even half-decently glorifies a greater piece of music deserves a certain amount of applause. It was a little repetitive in parts, but I liked the arrangement. The Bassoonist had the absolute right idea. I loved his playing<3
@meowkie Hey no problem meowkie! NevinJarek has a right to his opinion. Actually-there are some better hip-hop/electronica arrangements of Rite of Spring popping up on YouTube. It was an idea and this video is a very loose, first time we ever tried it kind of thing. It's funny when people have to say 'damn you, damn you'-if they knew me we'd have a conversation about it instead of damning me. As a conservatory bassoonist-I listened to Rite every night for 2 years-one of the greatest!
this is vulgar. lady gaga's composition has more in common with igor than this, you just took some figures from rite, and did the most uncreative thing I have ever heard, not even metallica exploits the same stupid time signature for so fucking long, and its awfully simple, rite of spring has so many layers, harmony here, is.. ugh... so gross, and repulsive, even screamos have more talented musicians, at least they dont stain the name of musical kings like igor. damn you, i damn you
5000000000 stars!!!!
