@doublethumpbass89 yes it was best picture, the academy said so. the oscar's aren't open for public vote. the oscar voters decided hurt locker was the best, so it won best picture. deal with it.
The Hurt Locker was overrated movie. Don't get me wrong I loved it and think it deserved 1 or 2 Oscars but 6??? No way. It wasn't the best film of the year.
Anyway Jeremy Renner impressed me very much - brilliant acting. It was also great to see Evangeline Lilly.
i was in afghanastan and egypt.and i must say the people are very nice.but you still dont feel 100%safe because a bomb went off about a few feet away lol
Anyway, down to business. My favorite movie is? Hot Fuzz. The movie, in my mind, is perfection. The screenplay is packed to the brim with jokes and numerous callbacks, and Edgar Wright's directing is terrific. The movie succeeds not only as a brilliant send-up of balls to the wall American action movies and a loving homage to great cop movies, it's also a phenomenal film on its own merits.

My favorite military/ combat film. "Saving Private Ryan" and "Platoon" fall right beneath this one. @ fjwjr, I was in the army from 1990 to 1998 and it definately captured the mind state of a soldier who is deployed. As far as the technical inaccuracies you just have to understand when a movie is made it has to go at a certain pace in a certain time frame or the story gets lost. This movie had so much heart.....I didn't feel anything when I saw "Jar head" so I do get where your coming from.
This movie was crap. There were so many things wrong with it. Mistakes and inaccuracies right from the first 60 seconds of the film. Not much attention to detail made it almost unwatchable.
@themancalledzac Well, for starters, in 2004 nobody in theater had those uniforms or body armor. ( remember all the politicalfallout from a lack of body armor?) Also, there was very little turret shielding and NOBODY drove around cities or the countryside in single Hummvee patrols never mind splitting up a team and running down alleys alone. Hadji vendors were NEVER allowed to drive their vehicles onto a base. (ever heard of a car bomb?)
James Cameron had a beautiful, talented wife.

@fjwjr Really? I have heard ALOT of soldiers saying how realistic this is and how its the best film to capture what its like to be at war.
StaticID 2 years ago
@StaticID You either made that up or they were soldiers who never left a base.
