im pretty new in photography and just got myself a canon xsi its pretty amazing and cheap i love it its $700 dollars right now and its a pretty sweet deal its my first canon camera and if all their stuff is as good ill be a pretty loyal customer
Macro photography for one, you don't want to touch the camera because of vibration. Astrophotography especially as well (and the USB2 video out plays even more here too, if you haul a laptop, if not you can use the LCD). In Astrophotography it can ruin the shot if you should touch the camera as you will be taking long exposures. Hope that gives you some insight.
Just got the 40d...Have been doing research for a long time...and I am so excited...any great places to get info on using the camera on youtube or other places...thanks...
Don't go with the RebelXT. The 40D for its price is awesome. While the rebel is easier to use menu and Manual shooting wise, the 40D is not hard to learn how to navigate. I own a 40D, 5D, 1Ds and a RebelXT and the 40D for a midrange camera is absolutly brilliant.
yea i like it but here in sweden it costs like 2307.69$ and in the US on ebay i costs like 1200.00$ im tinking about importing a 40D to sweden but the warranty wont last :( across th atlantic. what sould i do i have 1250.00$ please help me!!!!!!!!
Wait for a little while longer man. They will be bringing new 2008 models soon so that will make a dramatic price drop for the older models. If you cant wait go for the Rebel XTi. although it is a novice camera it still takes AWESOME photos for what it is and the manual shooting option is very useful
ive tested a 40D awesome but the eos integraated cleaning system doesent work as good as they say. thats wy i choose a 350D over a 400D. In the end of the eos integrated cleaning... movie you can see a small notice *Depends on the kind of dust
i got it in hands early (in my shop) and i tried out the 6.5 fps .. wohooo its the hammer and the live view is really nice. i wouldn use it often. but its good to focus exactly cause you can zoom into it by 10 times....
it will be mmy new camera.. at like christmas with a canon EF 24-105 L...
Hi, I currently have a 30D & 10D, 17-40mm L USM, the fabulous 100-400mm LUSM and a back up 100-300mm USM & 580EX flash. I work for a local newspaper and the 30D gets a hell of a lot of work, in all sorts of conditions, especially here in Ireland, where its frequently pissing down !
I look forward to the release of the 40D, however the new batteries for the grip are a bit pricey.
Nice one mate, I am currently using a EOS 400D with a 100-300mm MK1 f4.5-5.6 to shoot motorsport photography and I am coping out well.. (at the moment)
Hopefully 2008, should be getting a 40D alongside with a 70-200mm L f2.8 non IS which should be a winning combination! ;)
Thanks for the video, helps a lot since I only found out aout the 40D's release a day ago! :P
I am still on the Canon Powershot SD700IS camera. I'm thinking of upgrading to a DSLR for more crisp, life-like, quality photos. Plus I want to use Aperture's amazing editing potential. Now that these specs have been released, I'm considering this camera. It sounds awesome! Thanks for the specs Glenn. I couldn't find them clearly spelled out anywhere except your blog and this video.
lol so this guy is showing us something he didnt have, and explaining what 3, 6, 9 frames per second are????
are you retarded or do you think we are?

Yes, I am using a point and shoot - but have been leaning heavily towards and SLR for quite some time.
Everyone suggests/recommends going entry level with the Rebel, but in my mind, I don't want to outgrow it as I have read others have.
Hence, the 40D is looking pretty darn impressive.

Next time I see a list on a website I'm going to go and get a video camera, sit infront of my computer, and film myself reading the list.
Then I'm going to put it on youtube and be congratulated by people for reading the list.
