Emperors vs camel spiders would be a totally different fight- essentially "jaws vs claws".

If I had to put money on it, I'd have to agree with you & say emps would dominate the way you described, but I have to question the emperor's ability to sustain its palpal grip on a camel spider, for I've seen emps get startled & backed off by counter strikes. C.S. would no doubt attempt knawing on the palps & would (if not damage) at least cause a retreat.

That's interesting. That's similar to the small snake that primarily feeds on giant centipedes, or the Pepsis wasps that prey on tarantulas.

My guess is that neither scorpions nor camel spiders in the US come close to the tenacity & resilience of their African counter-parts.

I wish they could do more relationship studies in the wild, but obviously they can't in Iraq.

a) Disagree, scorpion WAS ready & in good position (0:34-:35). Agree, camel spider used the cave to its advantage

b) Don't know about 'better survivors'- The camel spiders that lose to scorpions are usually males (Only assuming this because of the skinny build). Bulkier camel spiders (likely females) usually tie or win

c) Agree, depends mostly on size

d) Agree, Emperors would win but only because they're nearly twice as big. How would you analyze that encounter (if same size)?

Yeah, over in Iraq, there are both camel spiders and scorpions all over the place. We used to catch them and put them in a bucket to duel. The camel spiders were not very aggressive and lost to the scorpions. Maybe the being in the wild versus being in a tupperware container makes a difference, but I never saw a camel spider beat a scorpion.
