Landing a glider is diferent to powered aircraft You should pick i point just before the runway and aim for it. once you have this attitude selected you sould not touch the pitch controlls. The aiming point should always be just above the compas and you controll this by using airbrakes. At about 5 meters above the ground you should "roll out" this means selecting level flight do decease speed. Once it starts sinking pull back on the stick. it should be at backstops by the time you land
The best glide speed in the DG808S is 58 knots, raise the nose to keep you airspeed at 58 KIAS, and put in one notch of flap. You should be able to stay up much longer
Takeit, as an emergency landing. It was just a short flight demo, made in 10 minutes how much long you can put a video on youtube, without using any video processing, (cutting, linking etc).
It was a little bit "forced" landing. From that altitude i could fly much, much more time. I just want to make a short fly demo. That's why i used so much the air brakes, not the spoilers, to make a fast landing. Have nice flights! ;)
Sorry, but i fly gliders in real life and i have been doing so for 2 years now. So trust me, you can also call it spoilers, because it spoils the air going past the witng to make it loose lift. And it's sometimes hard to make a glider go down if the thermals are strong with-out spoiler.
They are definitely called airbrakes. They are not designed to spoil lift, they are there to increase the drag only. Spoilers are the panels on the back of an airliners wing. They work on a different principle than the Shemp-hirth style airbrakes on a glider.
I'm usually not up to gliders but this vid was cool! Do you also think that sometimes that annoying noice in the cokpit blows you're brains out? That's what happened to me XD. Good Job!
Yes, lol, that sound is annoying. Usually in the simulator is not hearing so strong, but here in the video, yes. Unfortunatelly it sounds much louder than the sound from the outside air.
Does this come with FSX to start with?

@iliveonjupiter Yes, this glider is included in the default FSX's planes.

awful landing! you were much to fast... use more braking flaps! and a sailplane is not able to fly throw clouds!

sorry but does san andreas have altimeter vsi and all that jazz? no
You can't play halo then move to Flight sim!

Let me tell you a little somthing about landings, make a full pattern not a 5 mile final. use 55 knots + 1/2 the head wind!

You've got to get yourself a TrackIR...makes all the views much more smooth. Also makes the flying experience more realistic and enjoyable.

Thanks!

But, at the landing you should not point the nose down that much aand rely more on the spoilers. And also you should come in more straight.

If you don't like the sound you can turn it off by presing the vario button in the cockpit. I fly glider for real.
Just some advise.
Best regards

On flight that vario is not sounds so loud, i think is a sound setting from recording. Anyway i replaced the sound, problem solved with a song.
Glad because you fly a real glider, i intend do do the same in one day ;)
