  • 'old friends are acting strange..' get new friends. :)

  • Hi Daryn

listen i have that trouble with people all the time but what do they want me to play late at night when they have all had a few beers yep you got it all these kind of songs songs with feeling and a bit of depth .

you have a great voice and you sing from deep inside so take no notice ...i wonder what they will be listening to when they are in there rocking chairs hip hop ..rapping i think not . have a good day brian

  • i agree with you 100%!! the songs on the radio arnt that great. i mean occasionly one might be catchy but really its nothing compared to, idk maybe johnny cash or haley westenra

  • If you listen to Joni Mitchell chances are you ARE listening to music your parents and grandparents listened to...lol. But I know what you mean....that's not the point here though. You should be very proud to listen to what YOUR heart finds attractive. I feel sad that a lot of people your age are being sucked in by "trends"..be it music or fashion. March to the beat of YOUR drum. I salute you! And, yes, tell your friend to suck it! lol!!

  • u r very pretty great voice tooo

  • Wow hells yeh!!! I agree with you 100%! Music industry is pretty much on a downward spiral and everything is manufactured these days! Don't listen to the haters. Most of the stuff I listen to is from the 60's oh and nice voice and your beautiful :D

  • Who cares what other people think about you or your music? It took me 35 years to learn this lesson. Learn it earlier than I did.

  • So true girl. Joni all the way.

  • You tell them girl, folk music will never die it has to much relevence to the world today (your guitar is outa tune but hey thats music)

  • I love this...

  • Good song...but that guitar is hurting. I think it needs a tuneup and some strings.

  • Some advice...you don't need the guitar ....

    regards Simon Cowell....

  • you have a nice voice, but your guitar sounds really sad =( i thik it wants new strings

  • Perhaps your roommate has the bad taste in music? I love this song and think you did a fantastic job with it. Keep them coming.

  • Great song - good taste in music - not too bad of a rendition. With enough practice you could sing this one fantastically.

  • Wow this is one of the best covers i have ever heard of this song, well perhaps except for Judy Collins because, well i liked that more than the orrignal.

  • some people just dont understand the differance between music and sounds there is a differance and you picked a great song to show them all good jon

  • Haha you put it in a nice way. People our age listen to trash.

  • nice job .. i agree with what you we're saying at the start of this video. I am in the same position .. i adore joni mitchell and the smiths and other things my parents used to listen too .. and i get the same from my flat mates about listening to it. Dont listen to them .. if you like joni i am sure you have an excellent taste in music :)

  • You have a BEAUTIFUL voice! Let people say mean things. It only makes you look more dignified. But don't ever put anyone else down because you're only stooping to their level. I don't post negative comments on my page. I just block the mean people. That's the only way I can keep my sanity from haters. Rock on, girl!

  • don't worry about insulting people, sadly she is so threatened by you she resorts to a kind of deperate hostility. Challenge her to a musical duel...bet she cna't play a tune anyway. You have a great voice and sing with a lot of expression. Just get a better guitar, you deserve it!!

  • Please change your strings and tune the guitar, it takes away from your fairly nice voice!

  • i was just thinking how i really liked your taste and pick of covers!

  • truth is hard to come by.

  • I'm sorry your room mate has to listen to you sing. You take all of the soul out of this song.

  • no reply yet? not at all curious?

  • (continued from below...)

I am 23 years old in Halifax (east coast of Canada) and I don't think very many people around my age can honestly say they enjoy deep, whole hearted, soulful music. Joni, among many other artists have meaningful lyrics - I can connect to..and generations beyond me will be able to as well. Same as the Beatles! They are staples of GREATNESS. If you are ever in the east coast - come jam out east coast style!

  • Hey it's Joni's 65th birthday today - CBC radio 2 morning did a tribute to her today and played this lovely song. I think there is a certain group of people who really appreciate solid music and you can always find it on CBC radio. Your roommate and you obviously don't see eye to eye. Personally, I think your taste in music is sensational..Joni Mitchell is Canada's great female vocalist! Stan Rogers being the counterpart on the male side. Its hard to find people with a solid intellect!

  • my comments may appear to be superfluous, however my prose is intended to be prosodic. i fancy galvanizing some peregrinates into composing my peroration, however my assiduity prevents me from this.

  • this is absolutely ______. i have never once, when pondering the efficacy of well here we go we're just here wondering what what it is we have on our screen

  • i like to consider myself fairly literate. i fact i have a big vocabulary too but i can't really figure out what you're trying to say here.

  • @Cawlikesparrow Great voice and great song. keep it up !

  • your mouth is clearly bigger than your voice!!;-)

  • Anger is one thing, but hate, is much more constructive, which depending on how bad the individual is kept from the awareness that everything exists is made of atoms, which are made of energy, it isnt solid until our brains decode the energy fields into solidity, and the body is just a biological computer for the soul. Soul is consciousness, which consciousness is energy, so everything that appears to be external only exists in the mind, and it is only an illusion that we are divided. Great song

  • i really like this cover, i'm in france and people tend to listen tall music, from the 60's til today. I was shocked when i went to the usa to find each age

group stuck in time and space

  • joni mitchell rocks... good job.

  • nice cover girl. i'm also trying to learn this song and but i'm having some problems with the strumming pattern (the DDUU). if you could help me out with the pattern i would really appreciate it. send me a message please! again-nice job. :)

  • My mistake sorry,

it was written by Mitchell and covered by Frank Sinnatra.

my apologies, you do sing it well tho ;)

  • You cover this song well,

but you as well as every other person on youtube who covers this song KEEPS crediting Joni Mitchell,....

    Its by FRANK SINNATRA.

  • you play both sides now really well,i agree with you that kids our age do listen to shitty and narrow minded music and dont get me started on panic at the disco or faker, they suck, people do need to expand thier minds and listen to the old stuff like folk music because its about the human spirit, feel free to check out my classical version of both sides now

  • I checked out the video you were talking about. Great stuff. You're right. People of our generation sometimes overlook the really good stuff.

  • Hey Caw Like Sparrow, it's Taroeel. I still have the file. Have you tried to sing to it yet? I'm wondering if the guitar needs a different rythem. Just wondering if it's compatable with your way of singing. Let me know.

  • Your roommate clearly doesn't have the sophisticated tastes in music that you do. I think Joni Mitchell is awesome! You should check out Court and Spark & Don Juan's Reckless Daughter if you haven't. By the way, I think you have a really pretty voice!

  • people shouldn't post videos on youtube unless they are good at what they do, which you are not.

  • i loved it. completely loved it. especially your little bit at the beggining. a little tip, without sounding rude, strum the guitar a little softer, it'll do your voice more justice. other than that, i loved it :) x

  • Totally Fucking Agree With Your Message Bro. You'd Figure that All the New Shit Coming out Comes from Inspiration from much older music That Sounds So Much Better. You should Play "You'll Be A Woman Soon" by Neil Diamond or "I Won't Back Down" by Johnny Cash

  • you should learn how to tune and play that guitar you wield.

  • you should learn how to tune and play that guitar you wield.

  • As long as you make one person happy with your music it's all worth it,isn't it?Maybe she's alittle jealous,so don't be mad at her; you might go and show her some chords..Anyways,I like you voice, bluesy greetings from germany,Jesse

  • I clicked on this because it came up as a related video to my cover. & I AGREE. A lot of my friends are the same way.

  • Still beautiful, but there's something wrong with that guitar. It seems to resonate on a low bum note. Kinda buzzy. Have you tuned it, and is there a fault in the bridge?

  • oh wait, i dont want to start a rukus, some stuff on the radio i admit is decent, however, I think that about 90% of it on mainstream stations=crap.

  • I think that a lot people 'our age' your profile says you are 19? I am 18, and a lot of my peers listen to a wide variety of music from velvet underground, dylan, joni, CSNY, etc. to music today. However, I am canadian and I think in a sense canadians are raised to listen to different music...just like anywhere else? I see you are from the states, dont know where, but maybe its differnet. I agree radioo is shit today. People who do listen to that crap, need to find some respect in themselves.

  • Who cares what other people think. My cd collection ranges from the 40's big bands all the way up to Pantera etc. I love all music. AS far as both sides now I'm the child of a former Hippie. Mom was 17 in 1968 and hanning and performing in the NYC village. My mother used to play that song for me on her Gibson Acoustic when I was a kid in the early 80's. You brought back good memories Thanx

  • two comments:

    1) You have what Amy lacks - one word - Perspective

    2) Since you have several singing videos would you please do one with your chest voice I think it would give more color to your performance.

    & btw great hair

  • I don't care if your iPod song list is shameful - I still like your singing and the way you tell Amy off.

  • Who cares what other people, think you're amazingly beautiful, and you inspire many!!!

  • hey, I got like 9000 songs on my ipod, and most of them are not trendy songs that everyone else listens to. great cover.

  • i love this song and the first part of this video is hilarious:)
