  • Thanks for sharing this video clip. Wonderful.

  • This is just sad. The comments explain everything.. 1. Nice sunny spot. 2. Weed free- keep dreaming. 3. No tools, hahaha.. sad.

  • In the words of my grandfather.. that right there is the height of lazy

  • man you can get city folk to buy anything.

  • I don't know what gardensocks cost in the US but here they are quite expensive. I would rather just spend an hour and save myself the expense. Your trick would take an hour anyway, including the time it takes to purchase these socks.

  • I liked your video very much.

  • I liked your video very much.

  • I liked your video very much.

  • hahahaha this is such bullshit.. there is next to NO microbial activity in there, or space.. its this stupid middle class gardening crap AGAIN. pathetic. get your hands dirty or dont do it, simple.

  • I wonder how much you got paid to promote this. You bought the plants after any work was required, you bought the soil in a sock, you bought the mulch, and I would bet you didn't build that bed frame. How in the world is that gardening?

For that kind of money and an equal amount of effort you could buy a lot of vegetables.

  • She's hot !

  • socks it to me

  • the point of urban gardening in boxes and containers is actually doing it yourself!

  • Well I found you today. I wonder if chia seeds would grow in your garden. It grows best in tropical areas contact use for seed samples.

  • IMHO this totally defeats the idea of growing your own, and I hate to say this is an overpriced gimmick. To grow vegetables, all you need is dirt, seeds, water, fertiliser, lots of sun, and time. You don't need "MicroNutrient Technology(TM)' ,UltraFiber Containment System(TM), and Brawndo (it's got what plants crave). Back to basics!

  • @ChayD,

I absolutely agree with ya. Seeds is the best way to start a vegetable garden and waaaay more exciting!

  • this is an awsome movie, ill have to try this! my garden rosks and im so excited to begin making video this year. EVERYONE! IF YOU LIKE GARDENING TIPS, HOWTO'S, AND GARDEN VLOGS, CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL. COMING THIS SPRING I WILL BE MAKING A GARDEN VLOG EVERY WEEK.

  • What happened to good old fashioned hard work in your garden, does everything have to be made easy for fat lazy people to do? the idea behind gardening other than getting fresh fruit and vegetables is to be active and get fit...[ex fat bloke]

  • Nice, Dirt Sausages!

  • I ♥ your channel :D

    Keep uploading more

  • You can buy the sock with or without compost inside, if you want to do it more inexpensively. If you want to use your own compost that's great, you just have to make sure you fill the sock not too tight, not too loose. Potato bags are good too, but the beauty of the socks is that they are made to breathe. That is the point, that the compost can breathe and stay active so it can release nutrients to the plants. And it doesn't get root bound like a pot.

  • $15.00 for 1 foot of compost!!! OMG no way. I'll use a shovel and my free compost. It seems like a good idea I agree, maybe for preppy city folk.

  • save yourself some coin and buy a roll of garden fabric..works great.

  • Patti, love your videos. Much success in your endeavors. BTW, what do you do about Japanese beetles? Re: Gardensoxx, good thing I found your video. I would have walked into Lowes and asked if they had any garden socks, size 91/2. :)

  • Great stuff Patty - always love your vids:)

  • Well, I guess we know what this channel is all about now. Sucking in viewers, and selling BS. I won't believe a single new idea she's got, or that anything she shows actually works or isn't just props

$225 + tax ... for dirt bags lol. She used wood that won't last long before it rots, so sustainable? No, and it will attract termites. In any warm areas where termites are hardy, that would lead to a home infestation eventually. You need treated lumber or stone material

    What's so wrong with real?

  • @omegahpla Treated lumber leaches toxic substances into the soil. So not a good choice. Wood won't last forever, but it will take a while to break down.

  • i love this!

  • Nice vid

  • Wow, these are great! I would have never known about them if not for your video. Thanks!

  • Great video excellent for the urban gardener:-)

  • I'm not sure about this. I think creating your own compost (even if small scale) would be better than purchasing a compost sock. Patty, you must have a lot of compost waste from your animals and garden to create a decent compost pile. Perhaps I am wrong? No disrespect or challange offered here. Just a question.

  • You are beautiful and a joy to watch and learn from. Enjoy your new harvest. I have never seen anything like this idea before, very interesting! Ps. GORGEOUS hair.

  • Hi GardenGirltv

    I like your videos!!

    Now I 'am hungry!!

    I just subed!

    Thanks

    Bob

    "MYSHOES"

  • Gives ya lots of ideas! Great video, and I'm gonna be experimenting tomorrow!

    Thanks Patti!

  • what can I type to address this video?

garden socks get 4:34 of visuals and pumpkins hanging on vines get zero visibility. ...what is congruent or perhaps what is real/natural in these visuals? this video inspired more questions than answers for me.

  • Ok I'm gonna go fill my old jeans with compost and soil and make my own soil bags. :)

  • this is strange..... it going into winter across the US,

  • Got the same cat problem :) ...but they also rid the yard of mice so, its one or the other i guess. Like the sock idea, it saves a lot of watering and weeding! As usual, excellent video Patty! Looking forward to seeing what you maybe growing over the winter in the hoop houses! :)

  • LOL I see it drew that cat right away..I guess he will be "making biscuits" on that every chance he gets! They love to scratch and knead on any kind of soft squishy fabric...good thing she covered it with mulch, haha

  • Great idea but I am guessing that Patti was GIVEN the Garden Soxx by the mfr to promote them....too expensive for my budget.

  • these things seem amazing for boarders and that really innovative, but it seems like a waist to pile them up like that..

  • Great idea!

  • I suppose it can be good for some people. I mean anything that get people into growing their own food is awsome in my book =)

  • Wow, Those garden socks are nice, but at almost $15 a two foot section, I think I will stick to hauling dirt. I can get a truck full of great soil for $21. Oh well, I need the exercise.

  • If its expensive then how come the Garden Girl likes it.

  • 2 words SPONSORED EPISODES

  • Exactly! calex, these things are too expensive to use that way...all they are is that fabric like they use for neck pillows stuffed with compost...guess a person could sew some up and stuff them with compost cheaper than buying them..but i think they would best be used to fix sloping areas that are causing u to lose your topsoil.

  • That's very interesting and sooo easy! People may complain about the price, but for someone like me? If I wanted to start a garden I'd have to buy all the tools (shovels, hoes, rakes etc, weed killer, fertilizer, gloves, dirt, plants the list goes on and on) that would cost more than $250 alone. So to spend $300 Initially (with the socks and plants) vs. all that other stuff would be amazing.

  • you can put rocks down on the bottom of the box then sand then weed block then dirt and you will have the same thing. Both ways you will still get weeds however, not as bad as not having any thing.

  • @crewlla, I just put in loads of free flat cardboard..if ur using wood boxes i also line the bottom edges with free saved plastic sacks i get from the grocery stores as I have noticed that is usually where the grass sneaks in from those cracks & spaces and root upwards..I am now using concrete blks as they are cheap, easy to stack and dont rot , plus u can use the holes to put pvc pipe for covers or wood posts for trellis, or just plant marigolds etc.

  • How tough are these things? I ask because our farm has lots of "vermites" round about, both the domestic kind and the wild kind.

  • Fall planting?

  • Five Stars!!

  • Using this method, would it work for Millet? Would the seeds germinate through the socks? How would you grow Millet?

  • would the sock be suitable for over~wintering some tree seeds in pots on a window sill?

  • I guess it all hinges upon how much you hate weeding and how much your time is worth

  • Fail-

    $15 for each sock??

  • indeed. Spent about $250 filling that bed with soxx. cheaper to hire someone for an hour filling the bed with cheap soil, or - heaven forbid - doing it yourself for free!

product would perhaps be better aimed at cities/companies with flower beds outside of their buildings as a way to cut down on maintenance

  • $250.00??? Did that include the wood frame raised bed?? Ouch...that just doesn't make financial sense to me. I could buy a years worth load of vegi's (organic) for that price. I like playing in the dirt so this system doesn't appeal to me.
