Why would anyone want this game remade? Unreal is a crafted piece of art the way it is. If it was remade, it'd end up like Unreal 2 which was a load of shit. Unreal is one of the greatest FPS in history and does not need remaking.

i know this sounds "UNREAL" ROFL!, but i used to play this unreal game in my dad's computer after he came from iraq when i was about 6 yr=ears old!

I actually bought a 3Dfx Voodoo II accelerator card, just to play this at its full graphical specs!

By far one of the coolest FPS ever! The exploration & non-linear factor and over all length of this game are simply unparalleled. You actually feel that you’re travelling through an alien world! And the sky with the 2 suns is absolutely gorgeous!

Too bad they don't make games like these any more! :(

@alxxz Voodoo2 is cool of course, but if you want to play Unreal in Glide mode you don't need to use such an ancient card. Just use some decent Glide wrapper, like Zeckensack or dgVoodoo. Together with a modern video card, these wrappers will provide you with perfect Glide picture, and with much better framerates than any Voodoo 2/3/4.

Thanks for the info! I didn’t know that Glide wrappers were that good today. Last time I tried a glide wrapper was back in 1999 in order to make UltraHLE N64 emu work on a TNT Gfx card, but it was very slow, so I bought a Voodoo II accelerator back in 1999 & played Unreal as well. How ever, Unreal Anthology also has the option to play in Direct 3D as well as 3Dfx Glide.

So, how would I get the best graphics results & special effects & lens flares out of Unreal today? Play it with the glide wrappers you mentioned on a modern video card, or play Unreal Anthology in Direct 3D on a modern video card?

@alxxz It's difficult to say. Both approaches have their strengths. The Glide+Glide wrapper approach will provide you will the genuine, original picture, as the developers have thought it, but the modern D3D9/10/11 and OpenGL renderers, when used on maximum quality, with AA and AF, will also produce some quite beautiful graphics. You always can try both and decide for yourself, every program mentioned here is free and easy to install.

Stay on the far left of the catwalk and make your way to the room on the opposing side. Then push the 3 little yellow buttons. Go past the fan again (stay as far away from it as possible) and drop down, there's a hallway somewhere that you can enter which will lead you back to a previous area, but a new door will have opened up.

i hope so, just imagine this unreal 3 engine, and they could even make it longer, hey mabey some stand alone dev tam will make it? i mean half life is getting remade, but not by valve, and half life came out the same year as this. one thing i notice is that this game is IMO way better than half life and quake 2, it had better graphics, sound, music, game play, and even a story. hell imo i like this way better than doom! i just hate when a game like this is forgotten ;(

@peopleknowme2 when i run unreal at full resolution everything is way to small (nine is 1920x180 widescreen) is there a way to make it work at that resolution? i tried the double font thing but other stuff still screws up and goes off screen and in the menu the poster is stretched out.

I played it with nv7900 at 1280x960 with AA and AF and it looked more than superb. Use your card powers and you won't be sorry

i have an 8800 gtx and when i play unreal it has terrible mouse lag. the fps is phenomenal, but the mouse lag makes the game unplayable. it's like you're playing drunk or something. did it with my ati x800, too. worked perfectly when i had my ati 9800 xt

You should do several things to ensure smooth gameplay. If you have AMD Dual Core CPU, install the AMD Dual Core optimizer. Next, if you have any dual-core CPU, it might help to set CPU Affinity to the first core via Task Manager. Also, you should ensure you have the 2.26 Unreal patch installed. And the last, for newer systems it's recommended to update the audio/video capabilities of the game engine, by installing the "oldunreal multimedia patch". Google will find it.

Unreal Gold tends to offer more than one route, if you pick the wrong one, you end up backtracking alot.
