So humvees are fast and cheap, this making it a poor target to vikhrs. You must have eyes open for short range SAMs cause most convoys like this are protected by one short range ir SAM and one or two AAA.

Hovering is also poor too cause you can be killed by ATGMs which are not a threat if you manevruing or flying forward with some speed, tank main guns can be also very dangerous if you get closer than about 2.5KM from tank, they can kill you 0.7 secound after you recieve LWS warning.

so weird . I played same mission today an when the enemy launched not only did my wwarn reciver work but also the chicks voice in cockpit said warning you are screwed.I thought there was know warning ever .! I some how managed to get out of to enemy attempts then ,in the heat of the momment my blades collided an I ejected at about 40m of ground .Luv those moments;)

@northroad1 Missile warning, it can detect radar/laser/Heat-seaking, and the chances of an RPG hitting a helicopter are so low it's out of the question.

@TEHGROUND the KA50 can only detect if it's being lased. (the box below the Datalink, up-left in the cockpit). No light is on so it wasn't a laser guided missile (like a TOW fired from a HMMWV) and theirfor no warning.

There isn't a RWR to detect radar nor a system that can detect a missile launch so the only things you can do to stay alive are: keep moving, keep your eyes open for incoming missiles and programm the countermessures based on your planned attackpattern

That was a very NS w/ those rockets. I have this game and the track IR w/ an X45 and I still haven't been able to play it. I think because I have to map my own joystick, I'd rather have it already mapped and then change what I need to. That and I can't read Russian. I am however waiting for THE FREAK'IN HOG!!! :D

Tanks are what usually get me; They aren't your #1 threat, so you tend to put them on the back burner... but every now and then if you get preoccupied, especially while in a hover, one will put an HE into you. I have gotten into the habit of rocking back and forth laterally whenever I attack tank columns.

This is a cool perspective. I have a similar replay of a HMMWV mounted AA team firing a stinger right up my Shkval camera. Only difference is, I fired a Vikhr and took it out in midair.

Unlike in the movies, in real life, there is no way in modern aircraft to detect that an IR guided missile has been fired at you short of visually spotting it. Secondly, the Ka-50 lacks a radar warning reciever, so if that was a radar guided missile, you won't receive a warning either. The only warning system the Ka-50 DOES have is a laser warning receiver, and only a tiny handful of anti-aircraft missiles use lasers for guidance.

Only useful if it's an IR missile, makka432. Laser and/or radar missiles won't care about that method. Also, note that in 95% of cases where you get a warning through your LWR it is pointless to use flares - it's a laser guided missile or projectile and they don't care about extra IR signatures on the seeker head.

Well, technically, if you are positioned correctly and become aware of the missile with a bit of time, you evade it through moving back into cover. If it's an IR missile you can also drop flares, but they are not reliable (mainly used to upset the targeting of a potential shooter -before- the launch).

The way to survive is to always have cover available and maintain situational awareness.

not true, the Ka-50 cockpit is armoured so even of the helo is disintegrated, the pilot can still eject safely before it hits the ground, its not like jet plane warfare where the jets traveling faster than sound and any hit can cause every thing to be be destroyed due to the fast air flow that creates high pressure agaisnt the travel direction if the craft and aids in the destruction of the craft.

Ome99, depends entirely on the type of warhead hitting you, proximity/direct hit and point of entry. The kill on the video would most likely be quite fatal since the angle makes the point of entry of the warhead be the cockpit.
