I have this on LP!! Chic was and still is one of the PREMIER BANDS AROUND!!! Another jam was BELIEVER and GIVE ME THE LOVIN' from the LP BELIEVER. Also there was HANGIN' OUT and from their last studio release CHICISM there was CHIC MYSTIC and YOUR LOVE. That CD was to be the last one that Tony Thompson, one of the BEST DRUMMERS and Bernard Edwards, THE BADDEST BASSIST IN HISTORY were to perform on. May they both REST IN PIECE. YOU'RE MUSIC LIVES ON!!!
I love the musical composition of this song. Which CD does this song come from? I also like " Stage Fright " and " Real People". Does anyone know where I can find them?
Both "Burn Hard" and "Stage Fright" are from the LP "Take It Off", which is another great song itself...Take If Off is a great album!...Real People is from the LP of the same name. That LP has "Rebels Are We" and "Open Up", both fantastic tracks...great pieces of music!
tibbsy .if im not mistaken, I remember nile rodgers stating that they were never a disco group per se. they just conformed to the beat and tempo but the further musical arraingments with him and bernard edwards musical talents was striclty soul. what came out of itseemed to be a hybrid sound with a soul foundation.
It's not that "they were never released"... they WERE;since the album from which it is issued ("Take It Off" ) came out in 1981... I think he rather meant that it was much underrated back then... and I would say taht it's because Chic was victim of having too much labelled a "disco" group...so, I guess that after the 1970s, they came to be forgotten... but they issued albums in 1980,1981,1982 and 1984 (and a last one,for their "come back" in 1991...) Chic is a FUNK group to me!
Bernard Edwards is a BEAST on this track.

@ruffd777 So is Nile. His sweet guitar riffs don't even sound like guitar here. Sounds like he's bangin' on glass or somethin' with a metal pipe.

From what I'm reading- these were never released? Pity, it's an interesting sound.

Word going round that CHIC were never really Disco to begin with.

@TIBBSY they were better than disco

@ukendcx2000
I agree with that....but unfortunately people pigeon hole you...except the wise.
TIBBSY 10 months ago
@TIBBSY true; but they were ahead of their time. A lot of disco sounds the same to me; but there is something deeper, richer, with Chic.
ukendcx2000 10 months ago
@ukendcx2000
exactly....and it's called....FONK !!
seriously though....some of the best musicians...in ANY "genre". CHIC. word.
