  • @crazymanwhois

  • @420THECRYPTKEEPER Agreed! Just to listen to this knowing that Chaplin wrote this for a movie he wrote, directed and starred in, is amazing..........

  • One of her best performances and one of the best performances I ever seen.

  • @rottweilerplaypen why do you say that? I'm not insulting you, but I'm just curious. I think it's great, but I'd honestly like to know why you don't like it.

  • I <3 :)

  • Wundervoll!

    Angélique duvier

  • Incredibly gifted woman. Amazingly beautiful and heartfelt song.

  • I love Lil Wayne, and I love Nirvana and TI and Superheavy and all the modern bands, but Judy Garland puts more emotion into this 1 song than ALL those bands put TOGETHER!

To me its the best version out of all o fthem

  • This wouldn't be that bad if people didn't start talking a third in.

  • she really could put on a show and thrill an audience

  • wow!

  • It's such a tragedy, Judy's life and ending. Despite all the troubles, her voice was (and is) and inspiration to so many - including myself.

This song gives me shivers, even more so when she is singing it. Beautiful.

  • 3 people listen Justin Bieber

  • Wait a minuet Judy Garland was born in 1922 so if this was 1936 she would only be 14?? am i missing something? But great song and video SMILE <3

  • @pianogurl24

Smile was originally composed in 1936, by Charlie Chaplin I believe. This performance looks like it's early 60's

    .

  • @babaloolabeast

    Early 50s to be precise.

  • @babaloolabeast thank you. I was scratching my head...

  • @MavynFL stupid bitch,,,,,,,,The Judy Garland Show - CBS Television Network episode 12 -Air Date: December 8th (sunday) 1963. Garland was 41 yrs old.

  • @babaloolabeast Yes.. Charlie Chaplin was composer of this brilliant sound. Judy is old lady here so I think too, itse early 60's or lately 50's.

  • @xjaja1975 this is from her CBS TV show, so would be Fall of 1963 or Spring of 1964

  • Yes early 60's you are right. Love me some Judy!

  • @pianogurl24 - The song was written in 1936, this performance is from 1964, making Judy almost 42 at the time this was taped.

  • Garland looking gorgeous & sounding magnificent, poignant & beautifully sung "Smile" defines what great singing & performing is all about...Bravo beautiful lady & RIP

  • Smile remember that is what music is all about so lets enjoy our Diva's no matter what they have or have not done! And let the beauty of all the Ladies music bring us together so the two of you can Stop all that negative and get into the positive Love that both Judy and Aretha gives to what is left of our World....Another words PEACE.

  • Judy Garland was so amazing such a great actress, singer and entertainer what happend to her is just so sad

  • I listen to her everyday and she gets me high.People that can't feel what she gave, are the younger people can't feel it i think. There lives are not like this past frozen in time.Thank you all for posting everything you can get your hands on of Judy Garland!!!! As she grew into a Woman there was not a Man out there that could take care of her the way she wanted. She sang for her supper no doubt and my oh my what a supper it was!!!! Still loving you Judy Barb...

  • Judy Garland was the greatest entertainer of the 20th Century. There was was no one better. Even after all the ups & downs, the flops & come backs, she was one of a kind. A woman with a talent that only God can give. But addiction, trusting others to do her right, & her mother caused her great pain & a untimely death. Even after all these years she still sends chills up my spine when I listen to her recordings or watch her films. I still listen to the Carnegie Hall Concert at least once a week.

  • She takes my breath away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 42 years later she can do that to me and many more and if you want to talk about some one else then get off here this is about Judy Garland.Rest in peace you are truly missed Barb.......

  • If you are here to dog Judy go find an other dog. This is about being a fan and was given to us to enjoy so sho....

  • so what if she was drunk or on drugs, the lady could sing!

  • @whatigot2say: Nearly everyone smoked back then. What's your point? Smoking made her broke? Where's YOUR albums? Where's your movies? Are YOU a legend? Have we heard YOUR name somewhere that we might defer to your imperial opinion? F**k off.

  • @DonJuanLovers smoking didn't make her broke it contributed to the deterioration of her voice. like so many losers before her she died a drug induced death and then was pronounced a legend by idiots like yourself you cunt.

  • @whatigot2say You are pitiful, Judy is dead and gone, let her be! What the hell is wrong with you, you truely are one fucked up individual , and you have some nerve calling anyone a loser thats like calling the kettle black!

  • @TheQueenAretha heifer get a life and stop living for wht I say and do. pig.

  • @whatigot2say I have on, now it is time for you to get a fucking life!

  • @whatigot2say Bitch I got a life now it's time for you to do the same!

  • @whatigot2say BItch why don't to slip and fall on a knife, you are a sad, pathetic asshole. It makes no sense how petty a person can be!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say Because you are an asshole, that disrespect the likes of great singer such as Judy and Aretha. Lets get this right trick Aretha is a fucking legend, nay Aretha is LEGENDARY! If you want to talk about someone talk about Diana Ross! LEave Aretha and Judy the fuck alone and anybody else for that matter. You are nothing more than a pathetic bitch, that is so insecure with yourself that you take it out on other. Bitch go die! Just die!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say Trick Aretha and Judy have cemented there status as LEGEND! They will live one forever! Get that shit right!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say Aretha's time will never pass bitch! Arethais a fuciking legend. The most respected woman in music for that matter. Aretha is adored and praise by every musical critic know, she has did more in her musicial musical career than any other female singer, besides Ella FItzgerald! And you are pathetic, who are you to judge Judy, she lived a hard life. Judy is a legend and she will alway be remembered! She will live on forever as will Aretha. ANd bitch Aretha will alway her have fucking

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say No but i but you are the drag queen that thinks he is Diana Ross. No matter what you say, you can never change history and make any of the crap you say true! Aretha is the most respected woman in music point blank, for god sake The Grammy opened the show with a tribute to her!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say Aretha Franklin chosen to interview with Wendy Williams because Aretha is a fan of the show!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatigot2say The only one that has prove to be tasteless and classless is you! You are filled with pity and i feel so sorry for you!

  • Celine Dion is going to be singing this at the Oscars!

  • she was one of a kind and we may neve see any one close to how gifted as she was.

  • @goldark91

    Celine could never match Judy!

  • @pm12345pm

    Celine: Judy : : Turd : Punchbowl

  • she has a smokers voice. rather than getting the help she needed, she lived her whole life pretending to be happy on stage and ended up dying broke .

  • @whatigot2say she tried to get help but it wouldn't last it wasn't really her fault she was given drugs at the age of 12 to stop her from gaining weight x

  • She is phenomenal. Thought i heard other good artists sing this song, but she takes my breath away.

  • Nobody can ever come close. How come they dont have stars like her in our days now?

  • @minijmin Because people today are more preoccupied with image and materialistic things like twitter and facebook etc, in other words, the inspiration just isn't there because people have forgotten how to tap into their feelings and emotions because technology is running our lives, that's what I think.

  • @Desperadounico no everyone's like that. i just think it's b/c she was unique.

  • shes was so beautiful. and she had a beautiful voice as well. <3

  • <3

  • This is real craftsmanship. Her voice is powerful and effortless. The timbre, vibrato and timing are remarkable. What a talent.

  • They don't make them like this anymore, the true definition of a star.

  • @billybingle you are absolutely right! but... sometimes .. as we all know ... she also had problems with "smile".......

  • @billybingle i hope they don't make them like this anymore. they should have allowed judy garland to perform at her own rate, rather than forcing methamphetamine down her throat.

  • she can sing this sing 2

  • This is so true.

Judy Garland having to go through so much pain and grief especailly from her mother as a child, to get where she was at that point of her career was horrible.

All that beautiful lady did was smile to make us think that everyonething was alright.

    God bless xx

  • I am in tears...my older sister used to sing this to me when I was really little after my nightmares....I miss her so much. This song used to make me feel better all of the time. It's the first time I have listened to it in nearly 20 years. BEST SONG EVER!

  • no matter how sad i am, listening to hear singing always puts a smile on my face. love her sooooo much!!! love you judy!!!

  • wow...im tearin up...lol

  • I'm smiling through my tears as hear Judy sing...she has the ability to move us mortals with a breath of her soaring voice.

  • As much as I love seeing Judy sing this song, with such emotion.... and I do love it.... I'd give it all up if she could've stayed on this Earth a little longer.

  • you can really see how much liza resembles her ... God rest her soul

  • Look how long you've been gone and our hearts are still empty. You will never know how much you touched our lives. GOD rest your weary body, dear Judy. No one will ever come close to your GOD given talent and The Greatest singing Voice known to man. We miss you so much, Judy! xoxoxo

  • @NFitalianGuy Amen I could not have said it better

  • Not my favourite dress.

    Does it matter?

NO! A voice like that -- cor blimey, NOTHING else matters!

  • So beautiful!! I love this version over all of the others!! Amazing, passionate and beautiful!!

  • My fav cover. it gives me chills each time

  • this is not 1936... she would have been 14. This is probably in the 60's, on The Judy Garland Show.

    Regardless, she is divine.

  • @thelovelymshulia: You are absolutely right--the song is from a Charlie Chaplin's move made in 1936, and Judy's show ran for 6 months, late '63 to mid '64.

  • @thelovelymshulia

it's from Charles Chaplin Modern Times 1936

it's not means Judy sings in 1936

  • gorgeous

  • She gives me chills..she is a beloved artist and woman

  • love her

  • Magic.
