I remember when I was a kid and saw Bobbysocks win Eurovision, it was pure magic indeed. Mom and dad made me and my sister minty milkshakes, they did that every year - you can't watch Eurovision without that! I loved this song so much. Wow, this brings back such great memories. You know, Bobbysocks won with 123 points, and I did read in somewere some critics because 123 points is the lowest winning score in the ESC history. But I think all the opposite, as that means for that particular ESC, several countries sent good songs and well known artists, so the votes were heavily scattered (not like nowadays), so Bobbysocks and Norway must be VERY PROUD to have won in those competitive conditions.

The contest should distinguish itself from tacky talent shows with the class and finesse it used to have. Isn't it a song contest and not a singing contest after all? If the contest doesn't add anything of substance to the world then it will become obsolete really fast and people will just loose interest. It wouldnt be a big disaster but mainly a missed opportunity for offering a platform for good music

I guess this is around the time when the euphoric frenzy of the Norwegian people really kicked off. The money from their oil findings had started to roll in big-time by now, and also in music, Oslo band a-ha became the first international pop stars from Norway a few months later. Norway wasn't the poor little country that no one cared about any longer.
