  • This will always remind me of a time in my life just before things got really serious for me. I was free to explore great music and ideas, free to play my guitar, free to think and dream... And, oh yeah, Topper lays down a great groove here, doesn't he?

  • This track was also on a 10" maxi single!

  • Perfeito

  • This is also off of the 10" Super Black Market Clash. Great song

  • Google ... "THC Cures Cancer"

  • Thanks mate .youve made my day!

  • wow what thick bastards...its armageddon not gideon jeezus

  • dude its armagideon it says it on the album

  • I'm going to be singing this song on December 21, 2012.

  • @oldetownecoffee1 man you believe all this bullshit ?

  • @HumanOnFire

Do I believe that there will be some natural cataclysm when all the planets align and work their magic and wipe out 98 percent of us and take the world back to the stone age?

Not likely. Hey, it could happen...

But more likely, there are some psychotic religious nutjobs (probably Muslims) who will want to make sure SOMETHING happens that day because they want to bring about their own armageddon.

  • @oldetownecoffee1 hahah , that's interesting

  • cheers joe..always remembered

  • what a classic......i remember listening to this many yrs ago..still sounds way ahead of time......

  • I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head. Best way to start off the day.

  • Love this fucking song to bits!!!!

  • yeahhh Old scHool and original style ...

  • This is such a good song!!! \m/

  • i repeat...

    Great Thanks to Clash!

n great praises to the Rest!! ; )))

    "remember to kick it over!!!"

  • They changed the lyrics from the original. The original was

    "remember to praise Jehovah"

    and they wrote

    "remember to kick it over"

  • skin rock and raeggae = the clash

  • Great Thanks to Clash

    Tilfeldig123 and Yt too....

    Ahh!!! ; )))

  • The guys made doubles and triple albuns and made the label sell it for the price of a single record. Plus, they were signed to a major label to spread their message, so ppl on whole world could hear it. Joe strummer died and left 1 million in stuff. Is that much for an entire life of hard work? Compare that to sums that bands like green day get for one gig only and come here to argue about it. STFU if you're a fag who like to hear crass and their utopy ideas.

  • Is anybody seriously upset that The Clash made money with their music? Since when is it wrong to make money?

  • have this on 12", london calling, armagideon time.

  • U2 made money too they still are. just enjoy the music yall. The Clash rule!!

  • "A lotta people wont get no justice tonight"

  • great song!!^^

  • Super fun upload thank thank thank you..

  • REAL ROCK RIDDIM BY THE CLASH

  • The clash turned rebellion into money Lots of money but dream on if you want to

    good tunes

  • Can I ask. What money? Give us the details mate. Millionaires are they??? And so what if they got a few bob. They worked for it. More so than the shitty X-Factor stars of today. And speaking personally, they gave me inspiration. Made me a better person with a greater understanding.

  • Spray. Listened to them all my life still do seen them in concert top band. People should make money just think they over done the revolution thing sometimes .

  • it all went up the arm!

  • this is sick but i prefer the origional cos i got willie williams version on a 7"

  • Fuck anyone who doesn't like The Clash.

  • @betomas I liked them up until they became the very thing their songs preached against. They even admitted that themselves. And mellow out dude no need to get so hostile, guy.

  • @Capz541 Thanks for your comment. I wrote that as a joke and I'm laughing at the results.

  • @betomas hahahaha what are you ? a drunk teenager

  • @thegrandwazoooo Well on that note, fuck you too.

  • My very first concert at Red Rocks in Colorado, 1984. They opened with "London Calling"... what a great day! Of course, by that time Topper and Mick was gone, but I didn't care... Red Rocks was different then. They opened the park at 9:00 am or so. No liquor allowed, but you could bring soda. We would mix up 2 Liter bottles of Coke with Wild Turkey 101, have a couple packages of Clove Cigs and a Hackey Sack, and party all day till the show. Did that for Idol, Iggy Pop, George Thorogood, PIL...

  • The version on the jamician show is awesome, smack in the middle of mag 7....bonds great too

  • Loved the Clash. I got both 7" and 12" Armagideons when they were released - the 12" version is awesome. Unfortunately no turntable at present,so can't convert and upload !

  • I both this 12 inch.Fuck me al.

  • I bought this in the 'singles' set for $25 at Tower 30 years ago (?!) - the clerk was annoyed - I guess he wanted it, not like he couldn't order another.

Picked up the 12" in 1985 from some blonde selling it off the sidewalk at Astor Place by that big black cube for $5.

Still have the box singles, but not the 12".

Good times - good music - big party!

  • Yes, this is better than Willie Wiliams' version! I love reggae, I love punk - and this is a fantastic and respectful version of the song! :)

  • You cannot compare The Clash to U2. The Clash represent a state of mind and an idea of life. U2 is just pop for the kiddo's out there. It has no depth. Does it represent Ireland ? Well come on guys the bar is open.

  • hahahahaa totally rite zippy zipp it hehehe

  • The Clash are what U2 still strives to be. Their music will age better, IMHO

  • Willie Williams' version = happy melody

    vs

The Clash's version = "melancholic" melody

Result: I prefer The Clash's cover, even though I respect Willie Williams' songs.

  • dont push us when we're hot!

  • And on the 8th day God made The Clash.

  • @Vincenteloco and it was good

  • @Vincenteloco And on his day of satan made Jedward

  • @crassazell Then satan sang the blues

  • @Vincenteloco whos god?christian god? what about our god? i'm a shaman lol

  • the bands around today could not with live the clash

  • Absolutely, and the best live version that's recorded from them is on the album'concert fot the people of Kampuchea'.I bought that album just because this song was on it.

  • This is one of they greatest tunes they played, cover or not.Listen to the original to see how much they add to it.

  • brilliant hwo they did the real rock riddim pon this one willie wlliams vs this one this one wins hands down

  • The original Willi Williams one is better in my opinion. Can't detest that trombone solo and the organ parts!

  • real rock

  • love it

  • Remember......it.

praise...something we can still enjoy strummer & co.

    cheers

  • cant believe i was lucky enough to hug him.

  • Rest In Peace Brother.......................

  • RIP JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kelirichards I have this on a 10"I purchased new in 1980, it is titled lack Market Clash,"The Clash", copyright 1980 CBS records, manufactured by Epic Records, . The original is from 1977.

I do not know how to post on these threads and such but I saw someone ask what LP is it on? It is on many, this is the first one I got and still have. I copied it to tape, ǵasp! in 1981 and have only played the 10"Vynyl a few times. One solid band.

  • @kelirichards, Look for the E.P. "Black Market Clash"!

  • @pandaemonium12 yeah, had this on a 10" import, can't find it though :-( - thanks for youtibe!

  • @kelirichards theres a good dub of it on superblack market clash too

  • @kelirichards It was also on Give Em enough Rope. I probably should have written u first and not the poster.(doh)

  • @kelirichards I have it on vinyl as a 10" EP - "Black Market Clash"

  • @kelirichards Hey Keli. Do you know if " Armagideon time " the original b-side of " London calling " is available anywhere ? It's on the two live albums and the version on " Super blackmarket Clash " is the extended mix called " Justice tonight/kick it over ". It doesn't appear to be on any best of either.Just wondered.

  • my girlfriend hated the clash before she heard this song, and sandinista!

seriously. sandinista! made her like the clash MORE.

    ....im a lucky boy.

  • Yeah Sandinista was an awesome album, never understood why people didn't like it...

  • Clash's # 1 song!!

  • I agree with you that it's awesome but just in case you didn't know, it's a cover of Willie Williams' song Armagideon / Armageddon Time.

  • Thanx for your reply - Willie was a great influence in the reggae genre. He never got the recognition he deserved in the USA. But, as always, the British and Europeans are a lot smarter about the subject than we are.

  • Uk is a part of Europe ;) but I agree with you, Willie is an great artist and thx to GTA I know him too

  • not all brits would say that :)

  • most of my British mates certainly wouldn't ;)

  • The original riddim was by "Sound Dimension", the title is "Real Rock". Search for it on YouTube...

  • @1400deadwood I cant noun the best song of the clash

  • this sounds completely different to the original. not better though. the clash are the only white band that can do reggae half as well as the jamaicans. all the other white asses are shittttt

  • dJuice

  • don´t push us when were hot!

  • It's fascinating really, at about 2:59, theres a voice in the background, the producer, telling them they have got to get out of the studio, hence the "Don't push us when were hot!" :)

  • First of all; he sais: Alright Joe, let's stop this, let's hear all of ya".

Second of all, as far as i know, Joe didn't notice what he said, and just kept on going, so the Don't push us when we're hot is unrelated.

  • Actually... The producer says "Alright, time's up... lets 'av you outta here"... No mension of anything to do with "lets hear all of ya"... you dont know what you're talking about Tilfeldig... Anyone from london, with the same accent will tell you the same thing. Listen again at 2:59.......

"Alright, time's up... Lets 'av you outta here!!!"

  • Well excuse me for being Norwegian, and excuse me for doing a mistake.

But since you know what you are talking about, is the "don't push us when we're hot" related?

  • "... Deciding that the best pop singles were around 3 minutes long, the band asked Vinyl to tell them to stop when they reached the appropriate length. Joe Strummer's response of "ok ok, don't push us when we're hot!" was completely ad-libbed."

  • @Tilfeldig123

Yup, Joe was replying saying "don't make us leave when we're playing this well"

  • @Tilfeldig123 the story goes that they wanted to make a song that was exactly 2.59, the "perfect" length of a pop song (hence the reference in hitsville uk too). so they told the engineer to stop them at 2.59, but clearly they were pretty hot by then and carried on. and being fans of reggae (you sure?) they left the engineers voice in, like the rastas do innit

  • @Tilfeldig123 yes. read it on clash.wikia.com page Armagideon Time.

  • And in understandable english for a Swedish, what does let's 'av you outta here mean? I hope you answer cause I'd like to know

  • I just posted a comment here and I didn't think before I did it. It wasn't that hard to understand "lets have you out of here". :)

  • its kosmo vinyl that says it mate either that or the baker, not a producer

  • still the best CLASH song by far, I heard this for the first time when i bought london calling 7" in 1980 loved it ever since

  • Yea muthafucka! I got this on vinyl.

  • Nice cover :) 5/5

  • even better than bob marley, Joe, we miss you

  • Love it! Joe r.i.p. You and your band were great.

  • thankyou
