Good music really serves as a time stamp for your life. Just seeing that album cover makes me feel like a kid, digging through my parents' crate of music. I remember getting up for school a bit early every morning to find an album to play...this was always a favorite. Chocolate Milk, Brothers Johnson, EWF, Stevie Wonder, The Gap Band, Teddy P., LTD, The Commodores...all made waking up early in the morning a little more tolerable. Back when Treme' was just my neighborhood, not a cable tv show.
I have been searching for this album for years - OMG!!!!! I am so excited because now Iknow I had the wrong name. I've been searching for Chocolate City, not Chocolate Milk - thank you YOU TUBE & Sharonmedia. My cousin and I would play this album every morning preparing for work and college. WOW - GREAT memories!!
Shoutin out at all my fellow WHO DAT FANS,, I use to watch them practice in a garage on Florida AVE in the 7th ward , hanging out with the band members,, WOW those were the days ,, and yes I def remember the Famous ,, the use to perform there ,, who remembers the Big Apple ??,, the Touch Of Class ?? ,, the Head Quarters ??? Nexus ?? The Bottom Line ?? PAPPY's ,, ETC ETC ,, the good old days ,, Club Wispers ,,, lol BIG MIKE ,,
@BiGGMIKE429 Headquarters and later, Alias Smith & Jones was my cousin Waynes place along with Budo. I used to bartend in the early '80's. Great memories! Also Georgie Porgies, The Rain Forest, La Boucherie in the Quarter!

This was the "CUT" back in the day at St. Aug and St. Mary dances. Groove City and "There Will Never Be" by Switch coming on back to back. Fellas would not let the sister he was dancing ("slow dragging") with go, and for good reason.
I am just sitting over here chilling with my litle shorty and she had to turn me on to this cut, have to admit it has a nice smoorhe ole skoole vibe to it. Born and raised in A town and for what ever reason this song dod not come across my pass. Thanks for the post and to my shorty we grooved to this on 18 July 2010.
"Yeah ya right" Boy, boy, boy. I remember this song. Talk about a blast from the past. Papa Smurf on FM98, would play this song for Classic slow jams and mellow moods. It was pretty much a signature song for Papa Smurf. I remember everybody at school pretty much was listening to Q93, while I was listening to "Grown Folks" music on 98. Love, love, love this song. I miss the "Old" New Orleans so much. The Big Easy Y'all!!!!
Nothing like this cut from the late 70s. Going to St. Aug and St. Mary's Dances and getting your slow drag on. Groove City and I Call Your Name by Switch coming on back to back. Fellas was on the floor like a pack of wolves looking for that special sheep.
Alfred Lawless fa sho...,.,.Lower 9th War CTC...aint no place like that NOLA....aint one of these dudes Dawn-Danity Kane's dad....this song is the siht.
u right facemob1985 everybody talk trash bout our city but there is no place like it, i was just home to go get my 14yr old daughter from visiting on the 4th it was pack wish i was there for essence n e way not having a daquri is so hard, got to make it in blender fucked up.
i feel u all my high school aint popular but i,m proud of it alfred lawless all day, lower 9, i miss sunday morning slow jams with uptown angela, 102.9 big easy and fm 98, i do live in houston now and i m moving to dallas in july, koleyah if i don't like it i will step off believe dat i ms home, but i am gd though
lot of people talk about new orleans but i've been around the world and their is no no other city that can compare to ours good food fine women and lots of partys thats real
I went to Booker T also, c/o 1978 'ya heard me? I live in Mid City, moved back to NOLA in 2004 and even Katrina couldn't keep me from where my heart wants to be! I am a successful product of 'Nolia projects too!
Chocolate Milk!! A New Orleans institution. I remember the parties/discos jumping, even in Kenner, Chocolate Milk, the Family Players, the late, great King Floyd and the Living Dead were in the house. I know all the Big Easy-ites remember each of these groups.
Chocolate Milk hit their stride and if the disco era didn't suck so much they might have been the biggest musical force to come out of New Orleans since Fats Domino. Damn, those were the days.
I miss the Crescent City, this song reminds me of the good days. I use to live across the street from some of the band members. Ziggy on Ursuline Street.
Chocolate Milk came to FT. Sill Artillery base back in the late 70ties...We Nawleans lost our mind with Yat pride...got on outsiders nerves with our signs asking Where Ya At? and our second line hankerchiefs...Yea Ya Rite...we secondlined our ass off thst night
Oh yes memories in the big easy 504...high school midnight with papa smurf wyldfm98 talking(sneaking) in the phone listening to mellow moods...boy those were the days .........
Groove City Is actually new orleans. If anyone have anything to say about it meet me on Orleans and Claiborne under the bridge across the street from Cohen Tuxedo!
Better yet go t the McKenzies on Gentilly and Elesian Fields and pick up a 20 piece we may get hungry...Oh Yeah I want a 2 liter peach big shot cold drank
Picture I am moving home today!!!!!!! I am getting the hell out of Dallas...this place is for the birds, i.e. peckerwoods. As soon as I get in the city I am heading to Genes and get that trout on French dressed like its going to the prom ya heard me.....
I hadn't heard this song since I was a 11 or 12 years old until yesterday Sunday when it was played on 107.3 in KC. I was so excited, I told complete strangers nearby to turn their radio to the same station so they could hear it, too. (probably thought I was crazy)anyway it was fun!!!
f.m.98 wyld.I made some of the best slow jam tapes from mellow moods,I used to be asleep and hear a song and would jump up and press record on my stereo. That was around 1987-1991 I was a freshman in high school in 1987,at St.Amant high school,St Amant La.Those were some good times,I miss those times.
This is a New Orleans classic, brings back memories of late nights listening to Papa Smurf on FM 98. Can't forget the picnics at the River View in Audubon Park either...
